Bit late starting, but as it's Easter coming up I thought the Bunny Fighter edition of Eduard's lovely little MiG 21 would be rather seasonal. I picked this up last year at Eday, together with the etch set and mask set.
Here's what I got:-
Over the weekend I made a start, as usual with the cockpit, where the raised detail on the instrument panel and side consoles has to be removed so that the etch overlays can fit in place. The main undercarriage bays were built up on the one piece wing, and the rear bulkhead with afterburner ring moulding added to one fuselage half, as well as assembling the fin/spine.
Yesterday I started adding the etch, which went fine in the morning, but after luch one of the seat shoulder straps went "ping" out of my needle nosed tweezers - cue the rest of the afternoon on a major search and rescue mission! Three hours and a very tidy modelling room later the errant belt was found and in place.
Here's the weekends work (minus the tidying up!)
And a close up of the cockpit parts
The jet pipe was rolled around a hole punch. Eduard give you a strip to glue over the join, but as this is hidden inside I think mine will remain wrapped in masking tape.
Anybody built this kit know whether it's a tail sitter without noseweight? there's not a lot of room up front!
