These are 2 of the great DACO 737 kits. Beside the -300 also the -400/-500 series were offered,but sadly they are now sold out. I found those for a bargain at a aviaition fair,one without markings,the other included the TEA decal set from Liveries Unlimited I guess. As I wanted to do a TEA 737,this came in handy. Back in 1990,when I went to Kenya with my grand parents,I saw a TEA 737-300 landing as well in Mombasa. I was surprised to see them there with that kind of aircraft. Later I found out that TEA Switzerland not only flew from Zurich via Luxor to Mombasa,they also offered flights to Malindi as the only international airline. TEA Switzerland ordered factory fresh 737-300s from Boeing in 1989,fitted with additional fueltanks to be able to use them on long haul routes. As a reminder of those childhood memories,this 737 has a special place in my collection. TEA Switzerland was incorporated in Easy Jet and flies nowadays as Easy Jet Switzerland using a fleet of A320CEOs and A320NEOs The other one comes in the beautiful livery of Air New Zealand in their all green "Holliday," livery. As a base coat for the green,I used Gunze white primer 1500,then 3 thin layers of Tamyia mustard yellow. The decal set comes from PAS decal and is nice to work with. The build of the kits was mostly straight forward,just the wing to fuselage fit proved a bit problematic. Otherwise really beautifully designed kits. Thanks for looking Alex

A few pics of my latest build, a Belgian Air Force Sea King Mk.48 based on the 1/72 Revell kit and using the excellent decal sheet from DACO Products. For me, the Belgian scheme is one of the most attractive Sea King schemes out there. I really like the combination of the bright orange with the sand and spinach camouflage. Matching the green was straightforward. I used MRP-376 which is their version of Olive Green BS220. Matching the sand was more of a challenge. Following some exchanges with @janneman36, @825 and @thorfinn, I finally went for Xtracolor X813. This is actually an armour colour that I used c.15 years ago when building a Gulf War Challenger (BS361 Light Stone). Despite its age, it sprayed very nicely. Finding a good match for the Dockerblaze orange was also challenging. After various trials with Humbrol and Tamiya, I opted for an automotive colour from Zero Paints in the end: ZP-1057 Jägermeister Orange. I had to scratchbuild the radar at the left of the cabin. It's not 100% accurate, more representational than anything but "good enough and done" is the right way forward. I cobbled it together from 2 balls of Milliput, a Little Cars lens and some plastic card. All in all, it was quite an involved build and I am pleased to have got this one over the finishing line. The Revell kit still holds its own despite being over 20 years old. I actually like the raised rivets and the subtle surface detailing. The kit goes together well and is sharply moulded. Although they flew in full livery, Sabena’s BAe-146s and Avro RJs were actually operated by Delta Air Transport (DAT) which would later form the nucleus of Brussels Airlines following the collapse of Sabena in 2001. Here is the Revell BAe-146-200, one of my favourite airliner kits, finished as OO-DJJ circa 1996. OO-DJJ was delivered new to DAT in 1991 and apart from a brief lease to Malmo Aviation in 2003/4 served until 2007. She is now a water bomber fighting fires with Neptune Aviation Services in the USA. The Revell BAe-146 is a straightforward and enjoyable build apart from the rather fiddly undercarriage. The cabin window line is slightly too high and the windows are too small which isn't a big deal if you use decals. l placed the window decals about 1mm lower for better alignment with the large titles. Paint is overall Halfords white. Decals are by Daco with Authentic Airliners windows. In 1996 OO-DJJ and some other DAT BAe-146s were decorated with “Suske and Wiske” (aka Spike and Suzy and other names depending on country) to celebrate 100 years of Belgian cartoon strips. Apparently there were plans for Tintin to feature on the Avro RJs but copyright issues got in the way. Thanks for looking and constructive criticism is welcome. For the 2001 Airshow at Leeuwarden AFB, F-16A (MLU) of the Dutch Air Force was painted with a special tail scheme depicting 323 Squadron's badge of Diane (the hunter). In latter years it has carried several other tail designs (most of which are available from Daco Products). The only photos I could find of this airframe from 2001 had rather boring loadouts but I did find an undated one where it has live GBU24s and AIM120s (though with a plain tail - so I've wielded my Modeller's Licence to produce this combination) It was built from the Eduard "Nato Falcons" limited edition boxing of the Kinetic plastic, which included resin seats, exhaust, wheels and photo etch for the cockpit and some airframe details. It is one of my earlier efforts which never got fully finished - I'm not too happy with the fit around the nose BUT Kinetic's use of multiple choice panels to enable various Block versions to be built can lead to fit issues. Painted with Gunze acrylics, decals are mostly from the kit though those on the armament were mainly from the FighterTown F-14 "extras" sheet. Mike

G-BNNL was delivered to Dan-Air (hence the designation 4Q8 rather than 436) in Jan 1989 and acquired by British Airways in Nov 1992. In March 1995 ownership was transferred to BA's franchise partner GB Airways. In the late 1990s it was painted in the "Chelsea Rose" variant of the "World Image" tail designs as seen in this model built from the Daco 737-400 kit. Main paints used are Halfords Appliance White & Fiat Capri Blue, with various metal shades on the engines. Livery decals from F-Dcal, windows from Authentic Airliners and leading edges and coroguard are kit decals. and finally a "tails" shot of my four BA 737s. The other three were built in the STGB last year but unfortunately the Chelsea Rose decals didn't arrive in time - so I was forced to visit Danny Coremans stall at Telford to get another kit for them. This is the third F-16 that I've finished this year and the second that needed my own KUTA! If you are interested in the other two, here are the links US Navy Aggressor and RNoAF. The Orange Jumper was started over five years ago in the early days of my return to aircraft modelling. Back then I didn't appreciate the complexity of F-16 Blocks and so technically this model is incorrect as it should be an MLU version of the "B" - most obviously it is missing the "bird cutters" in front of the cockpit. Built from a Hasegawa kit with Eduard etch, Daco decals (which included the strengthening plates and a small sprue for the centreline Orpheus pod) and an Aires exhaust - paint is mostly from Gunze, with Alclad for the exhaust. The weapons are from various kits and include three modified missiles to represent sensor pods and homemade cameras on the rear fuselage. A special thanks to @Corsairfoxfouruncle for sending me a spare canopy to replace the original which crazed badly during polishing. For those of you who are not familiar with this aircraft, it was used to test various electronic systems and the extra wiring for such was done using orange jumper cables - hence the nickname. Anyway, enough background and here are some photos As you can see, the Crew Chief has had everyone working hard to produce a clean looking aircraft ready for an Open day and has also ordered an untypical loadout just for show! This has been on the shelf of procrastination for a few years but having got another detail fret from Daco at Telford, it is now finished. An out of the box build with Authentic cockpit decals. It took several attempts to get a good finish from the Daco (Xtracolour) paint; thinned, brushed and polished with micromesh. And a few of its sister, which has been on here before but I suspect the photos are in some lost bucket

Evening all, I used to build lots of airliners but had lost a little interest over the last few years. However, I have always loved the MD-11 and when MicroMir released their's in a 1/144th scale injection-molding I decided to have a go at it. It's your typical short-run kit with a bit of flash here and there and no locating tabs etc, but it does have lovely surface detail and although it didn't have the quality of fit such as those from the latest Zvezda or Revell, it went together pretty well. I bought the Eastern Express KLM edition of the kit, but I really like the colourful and non-white CityBird scheme so bought some aftermarket decals from Daco which, as usual went on perfectly. Paints were from the Humbrol and Xtracolour enamel ranges, with a coat of Humbol Satin Cote to finish off. Tom

Here is my entry for the GB, I have had this in the pile for a few years now and I think that I should take this opportunity to put it together. The yellow paint could be fun to do, I just hope that I can get a nice dense even colour. I may even be tempted to splash out on some Authentic Airlines windows for this one. The timing of this GB isn’t great for me due to the seven(!) other models I need to finish for the IPMS Scottish Nationals on 28/29 April so if I’m going to have a chance of completing a 737 by 6 May I’ll need to get cracking and try to keep things as straightforward as possible. My first contribution will be the DACO Skyline 737-400 in the older version of the HLX New York Cab livery, “Fliegen zum Taxipreis” as the slogan used to say. I have a second project in mind, another -400 in Air UK Leisure livery, but at the moment that’s no more than a slim possibility. The HLX decals will mainly be from BOA sheet 14409 but I’m doubtful about the black checks which look slightly too big and BOA unhelpfully don’t make any provision for them to fit round the wing roots. I’ll probably cannibalise a Drawdecal 737-800 sheet I bought some time ago for a model which never got built. The livery decals will be supplemented by detail decals from the kit sheet and windows from Authentic Airliners. Hopefully it will be fun! Dave G

This model is my contribution to the current Boeing 737 STGB. Hapag-Lloyd Express aka HLX was a German low-cost airline which was established in 2002 and operated until 2007 when it became part of TUIfly. The airline used the slogan "Fliegen zum Taxipreis" (Fly for the cost of a taxi fare) and their aircraft were painted in an eye-catching livery inspired by the Yellow Cabs in New York. The kit is by DACO. Yellow paint is Humbrol 99 buffed up and coated with Klear and the light grey on the engines and lower fuselage is Xtracolor X371. Contrary to what most decal manufacturers say these areas were NOT white, a mistake commonly made in relation to KLM as well. The wings and tailplanes are painted with Halfords Racking Grey. Livery decals are a mixture of BOA, Drawdecal and Brasil decals. Detail decals came from the kit sheet and windows and landing lights are by Authentic Airliners. Hello everybody!!! It's just few day till Christmas and I finally got my Daco 737-300 1:144!! Great!! 🙌 It's my first model ever!!! I'm quite scared how it will look like when finished😨 I'm going to make it Jet2 plane, reg G-CELK Jet2 Edinburgh. And why Jet2 and why LK? I've first flown aircraft in Jan 2012, Manchester to Prague on Jet2 737-300, but I don't remember the reg. And LK is as I currently live and work @Edinburgh and even work at the airport! Now to the model. It's pretty nice. I've found only one small dent on underneath the wing. No big deal. I will add more photos as building will continue DAY 1

This was purchased at Telford last November, basic build was quite quick ( no real issues) and final painting + decals in June / July. Two thinned brush-painted coats of Daco WP blue for the fuselage, my own mix of Mr Hobby grey / white for the wings and decals for the leading edges and coroguard. Authentic Airliner decals for the cockpit but not for fuselage as their spacing is slightly out from the Daco window deacls. and alongside another from the WP fleet which will be "Crested Butte" - unfortunately the purple paint has gone very gritty, so will probably have to wait until after Telford this year to get another tin of paint The fuselage decals are VERY large - recommended to use Daco's own setting solution but only had Microsol/set so a few wrinkles!!

Nearly 5 (?) years after its first announcement the DACO 1/48th injected F-104 super update/detailing set (http://ultra.glo.be/daco/KDCC4802.html) dedicated to the Hasegawa's Starfighter kit seems in progress. The first test shots are now in the hands of Mister DACO, Danny Coremans. No release date yet but it will be probably available at Telford's SMW 2013. Hi I started this project before the very nice Airfix PR Mk.XIX had been announced (had I known I would have waited for that one instead ) The basis for this is the Academy Mk.XIVc kit with the Daco correction nose / spinner with radiators and gear legs The bowser wing with lower camera ports comes from the Heritage Aviation Resin PR.XIX kit. (Didn't have the airwaves conversion set). I used the Aires cockpit set for the Mk.XIVc with some major alterations to get in the PR.XIX specific stuff. Seatbelts comes from the HGW line of fabric seatbelts (this sure beats pe seatbelts by miles) 4-spoked wheels with block tread comes from Ultracast and the canopy comes from falcon. Finally finished my F-104G aircraft 26 + 90 from MFG 2, German Marine Hasegawa kit with Ultracast detail set in resin. Resin bang-seat. Cannot remember if the burner can were resin as well. I've used Daco's excellent decal set for this. Future on the canopy and modelmaster gloss and flat lacquer mixed. Thought a German Marineflieger would be rather weathered, considering its operational environments. Clean, no weapons save the internal gun. I scatched the chaff / flare launchers aft and the mounting plates they sit on. I also scratched a position light on the spine and under the belly, in front of the vertical fin. Easy kit - it went together with no problems. Kinks here and there entirely my own creations. I hope you like it!

Hi All, Well you know what they say, you can never have too many spitfires... Just finished build number 2 for the year, which going at my slow work rate would be something of an achievement if i hadn't got most of the actual construction complete before Christmas I started this in the vain hope/anticipation that a major manufacturer would bring out a more accurate mk.XIV from the box but well..theres always next year... As the title says, this is the Academy Mk XIVc kit with the Daco improvement set grafted on to it. The kit itself is lovely to build, with great fit and finely rendered surface detail but with various dimensional 'issues' that result in a bit of a fat overall appearance with a badly shaped nose, spinner, props, radiators and rear fuselage that result in a bit of a portly approximation of what is IMHO the most brutishly beautiful mark of spitfire. As i'm sure many of you know the Daco set goes some way to improving the overall look, i have to agree but you be the judge... Its my first resin conversion of sorts and was a nice kit to use, the detail on the replacement nose section were soft to non existent in places so that had a rescribe and an attempt at doing the DZUS fasteners with a bit of sharpened Revell contacta glue tube and a pin. I added some Eduard etch parts for the panel and seatbelts to dress the pit up a bit, though the detail out of the kit is pretty nice. Also added the underside ID light in what I understand to be the correct position for a mk.XIV and also the little boat antenna underneath and main antenna on the spine from fine fishing line. Finished with Tamiya XF81/82/83 for the main camo colours and Xtracrylics matt (well satiny) varnish. Also had a go at hairspray chipping for the wing roots and some access panels and AK effects oil streaking for the underside, which I think both came out OK for a first go, the chipping was quite good fun too Decals are from one of the two mk.XIV/XVIII sheets recently released by Xtradecals and went on really well. They are great sheets with some lovely options but only issue i had is that the fin flash as supplied has the red part chamfered to fit to the front of the fin but the profile that comes with the decals and any contemporary pics I could find of a mk.XIV show a rectangular fin flash aligned with the back of the fin. Managed to fix this by borrowing the correct flash from an airfix mk.22 that I have. Anyway, enough waffle as my fat little fingers are struggling to get this all typed up before the end of my official lunch break... Hi Starting a WIP for this though not a start to finish build as I've already started Started this to practice with a resin conversion set and because Airfix will surely release a super duper XIV like their XIX. I also have a low back XIV and another Daco set so its practice for that too Construction is mainly done. I made a right mess of cutting the kit nose off but its mostly tidy now Daco cannon covers used as this will be an 'E' rather than the kit 'C' Underside with new rads It will be finished as RN135, later scheme Whad'ya think?
