  1. Messerschmitt Bf.109G-6 Gustavs over The Balkans (ED48001) 1:72 and 1:48 Exito Decals Polish company Exito are new to us, and have launched their brand from their website where they also sell general modelling "stuff" such as kits, tools, books and so forth. They have sent us their first issues in both scales, which arrive in a slightly larger than A4 releasable foil bag that is stiffened by a large piece of card, a sheet of paper front and rear, with the decals hiding in the back, and a set of side profiles on the front advertising what's inside. Inside are the decals of course, plus a page devoted to each option, which is printed on heavy glossy stock on both sides, with three-view profiles, a photo of the aircraft in question, and other information that may be of use to the modeller. Decals are by Cartograf, which is a guarantee of good registration, sharpness and colour density, with a thin gloss carrier film cut close to the printed areas. There are sufficient national decals on the sheet to model each of the three options, with a dotted line encompassing each option, plus another annexing the corner that allows the vendor to cut off the the Swastikas, which are also included in two parts on the body of the sheet to comply with local regulations regarding this contentious symbol. From the sheet you can decal one of the following: Bf.109G-6 White 12, flown by Uffz. Anton Riemer of 7./JG77 Mizil, Romania , January 1944 Bf.109G-6 Black 5, 2./JG53, Borovo, Croatia, May 1944 Bf.109G-6 W.Nr.166133 flown by Capt. Constantin "Bâzu" Cantacuzino, San Giovanni near Foggia, Italy 27th Aug 1944 The most attractive option to this modeller is the stars and bars equipped aircraft that was crewed by an Romanian Prince desperate not to be shot down by his Allies over Italy late in the war when the Luftwaffe were a spent force, and Allied pilots were probably desperate for a kill. Conclusion What a professional and attractive package this makes. As well as some cracking decals, you get profiles of all the options that are of such high quality that they could be framed or incorporated in the display of your finished model. We expect great things of Exito if this is their first issue. Very highly recommended. 1:72 Scale ED72001 1:48 Scale ED48001 Review sample courtesy of
  2. Hi all, I got to the decaling stage on my Academy 1/72 F-15D this afternoon, using Caracal's Lakenheath F-15 set. I have to admit, my heat sunk when I saw that they were printed by Cartograf. Every time I have attempted to use decals printed by Cartograf they've silvered, and this sheet is no exception. The decals themselves seem to be really thick and just won't submit to any decal solvent in my arsenal*. I've also tried the diluted Klear trick, and that didn't work either. They just won't bed down onto the model and the silvering is as bad as I've ever seen. I've been using other decals over the past few days, including those from the Airfix 1/72 Lightning F.6, Modeldecal and Xtradecal and these have been fine, so I'm pretty sure it's not me. Has anyone else had issues with Cartograf printed decals and managed to overcome them? As it is, I'm contemplating having to try to pull off the decals that are on there and abandon the twelve quid decal sheet and look elsewhere. To say I'm displeased is putting it mildly. The F-15 fought me all the way through assembly and having beaten it into submission and getting a pretty decent paintjob on it, to have it ruined by decals that won't play ball is kinda gutting. Right now, any advice would be gratefully received! Cheers, Mark. * Microsol, Mr Mark Softer, Solvaset and Humbrol Decalfix.
  3. Just trying to plumb the experience of some more experienced modellers here: I'm currently approaching the decaling stage of a WNW Pfalz DIIIa, my first. I figured this one would be a gentle start rather than attempt the other dozen WNW kits which I have gathering dust in my ever expanding stash, and I was correct - it's gone together very nicely (and any and all mistakes are solely my own!). My question is this: I realise that WNW themselves advise against using any setting solutions in favour of using a hair-dryer, but is that entirely necessary? I used Micro- family solutions for the smaller decals - cockpit etc. - without any adverse effects (so as a very limited test there seems to be no issue), and I have never found Cartograf decals to be anything but tolerant of these solutions (with aircraft of other eras). Frankly I'd feel more comfortable using these solutions instead of risking using a hair-dryer (risk being relative, but I've never used the WNW recommended method before). Has anyone else gone rogue and used my proposed technique, or will it all end in tears if I push on? Any suggestions or cautionary tales are eagerly sought. SAS
  4. Dear forum members; Based on your wishes and feedbacks, we changed and improved the box content of our RF-84F kit, which we released to international market in January 2016. Therefore, new kit no. of our RF-84F is now 2201-1 and its barcode number is renewed. As TANMODEL, we put great importance to your feedbacks about all kits that we release. Plus, we are very glad to be in contact with you for our new projects. We strive to present the best for you, with support we receive from you. Please do not hesitate to contact us about technical documents, pictures and decal options you consider that may be useful for our new projects. First we would like to give information about decals. Content of our decal set is changed and printed by Cartograf. Dutch Decal prepared a multiple-choice decal set once again. We’d like to thank Daco Products (Belgium), Mr. Kim Zimmerman and Mr. Jens Jensen (Denmark), who assisted us for decal drawing. Decal options : 53-7571 KA-E No.729 Sqn. Kastrup Airbase Royal Danish A.F. – Denmark 1958 FR-27, 42e Smaldeel, Bierset Airbase. Belgian A.F. – Belgie 1970 FR-34, 42e Smaldeel, Bierset Airbase. Belgian A.F. – Belgie July 1971 “Adieu a Toi Petit Dernier” with farewell badge. 51-17056, AZ-O No.717 Sqn. Rygge Airbase. Royal Norwegian A.F. – Norway 1956 52-7367, 171st Tact. Rec. Sqn. Taktik Jet Kesif Filosu, Eskisehir, Turk Hava Kuvvetleri – Turkiye 1956-1972 arasi Modelers liked profile poster and mouse mat but your expectations were different. As our kit has many clear parts, you asked for mask set in your e-mails. We evaluated your requests and prepared a wonderful mask set. As we are modelers ourselves as well, we added Anti-Glare Patch to the mask set in consideration of beginner modelers. We used a special paper for the mask set. Plus, we added a detailed application sheet printed on double-sided paper. From now on we will not give profile poster and mouse mat. 2201-1 box will include a detailed and high quality mask set. We corrected our minor issue on part no. 18 (Ejection Seat) of F sprue. We re-polished the moulds. Instruction Sheet was very well acclaimed by everyone. We corrected some numbering issues, added color names next to color codes and printed it on glossy paper. Decal Placement Guide is also printed on glossy paper. This way, the good became perfect. We added a download link to our official Facebook page for instruction sheet of previous 2201 kit, for those who haven’t built it yet. Everybody can download. Download link : http://www.dosyaupload.com/Vot Box-art was re-drawn in order to make changes noticeable. The new box art drawn by renowned Dutch illustrator Mr. Ronnie Olsthoorn (http://www.aviationart.aero/) is very well acclaimed. We thank him and now he is preparing a great box art for you for the 1/72 T-33 kit that we will release. (Homebee I’m sorry, we developed a re-box project without taking your permission. I hope you can forgive us ) Our 2201-1 kits have landed in USA, Germany, United Kingdom and Croatia. Japan is next. Boxes are being prepared for other distributors. If you’d like to see TANMODEL kits in countries where we don’t have distributors, please support us and encourage your local companies to contact us.
