Hi!
I would like to present you my project - CDL tanks in 1/72. It really interested me from the first time I have heard about it. I consider the idea true to British nature .
I read some articles about the usage of the special turrets assembled to the tank chassis such as Grant, Matilda, Churchill and even Valentine. The last two are not documented, only the Churchill is mentioned once in a book.
So the idea was in the air and the next step was for the kits and resin casted turrets to be found on the market. For the Matilda tank, I used very beautiful model kit from S-model (I really reccomend it) and for the Churchill I used the ex Matchbox/Revell 1/76 Churchill AVRE Bridgelayer. First, I wanted to use the Italeri Mk.III Churchill kit, but I concluded that the original might have been the AVRE type, and the only AVRE I had at home was this Revell kit. (I also have Dragon, but I am saving it for another day...).
The shining turrets are from the Lonewulf models (I really appriciate the shop's service) casted for the Matilda and the Churchill separately with a few differences. The inspiration for the Matilda was the museum original from The Bovington Tank Museum - "DOVER". My mate made the decals for it just as for the Churchill. The Churchill is simply a what-if. I named it "BRIGHTON" in connection to the Dover Matilda and for the word "bright"
I hope you'll like this duo even with some minor faults in the work. Bulding them was really fun and the CDL tanks will have a special place at the display.
Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
Andrew
