  1. Really very lovely 3-D printed Ripley bust, about 12cm in height, bought as a kit (all of two pieces:) ) Before paint
  2. Hi everybody; thought I'd sneak in this bust among aircraft builds, as a sort of diversion. It's my first Young Miniatures and only my second bust, lets' see .... Boxart Here's the content, coming in a very sturdy box and packed between two thick layers of foam After removing the casting blocks (using a Dremel and a sawing disc, plus soem refinements with my Electrical Toothbrush Sander), here's a dry-fit (blue tack used to hold it together): And here after priming I've yet to decide what to tackle first, will see... Ciao
  3. There are some who call me... Tim I've not had much time for modelling over the last couple of months, but I have managed to get a couple of bust prints painted. The first is this one of John Cleese as Tim the Enchanter from Holy Grail. It's a single-part print that stands just under 2" in hight. Painted with a mix of Vallejo and AK Gen 3 acrylics. Quite! Thanks for looking Andy
  4. I recently finished up this 1/16 scale mini bust from FeR Miniatures. It was a fun little project that I used to play with painting different textures. Comments and criticism welcomed as always!
  5. This is a 1/6 scale bust of Boba Fett (as portrayed by Temuera Morrison) sculpted by Piotr Kupper (Corax Artifex). It was an exercise for skin painting and directional lighting, both things that I have been wanting to improve upon. Comments and criticism welcomed as always!
  6. I finished up this great 1/10 scale bust from Nuts Planet and it was a lot of fun. I tried to experiment with armor modeling techniques in the finish instead of taking a more "painterly" approach, which was fun. Comments and criticism welcomed as always!
  7. I printed this bust back in the summer, but I've only just got around to painting it. The 3D sculp is from Archvillain Games on MyMiniFactory, and it's probably the best thing I've printed to date. The level of detail is very impressive with a hand beaten texture on the armour parts, and individual strands on the feathers. Pretty good for a file that only cost about £3.80. I'll definitely be getting more from Archvillain in the future. It was printed on my Mars Pro as a single piece, and stands around 12cm high. The base coats for the skin and the tree were airbrushed with Tamiya acrylics, and everything else was brush painted with a mix of Vallejo, AK Gen 3, and Citadel paints. Thanks for looking Andy
  8. This is my third painted figure. Fantastic 1:16 bust packed with detail and expression by FeR miniatures. Originally I was a bit intimidated by the size but it turned out to be an amazing experience overall and a fast one too! I was able to finish it on a weekend. Painted with Abteilung 502 and Scale 75 dense acrylics line using a wet palette. Thanks for looking Jorge
  9. My recently completed 1/10 Life Miniatures JFK. Had some trouble with the photography; this is the best I could get. Any comments and criticism are appreciated! Thanks for looking, Miles
  10. RX-78 test type. My custom exceed gundam head modified into what I think a prototype RX-78-2 head might have looked like. The standard RX-78-2 was the other one of these I built for a bit of a before and after.
  11. Finished this guy today. There are a couple things I don't like, but overall I'm satisfied. C&C welcome as always!!! Adding a close up of the face... Had a hard time getting a decent photo that realistically shows the fleshtones. This is the best I could do:
  12. Hi everyone. This is a bust I painted at the beginning of the year. Thought I would upload it here. There's a lot of i've learned since them but I'm still overall happy with the result. C&C welcome as always!
  13. Barsom Ripley bust, about 5 ins high,Nice little fun project, really enjoyed it. As it came.
  14. Hi everybody; here's the lovely Mitchell Military Models Roman General Bust in 1/9. Outstading resin model, only two parts (head an torso), making for a boatload of painting fun Huge value for the money, if you ask me, and my thanks to Ross Mitchel for the really kind service. Thanks also to everybody followed and contributed to the WIP thread, which can be found here: On with the pics: This bust has been painted mainly with Lifecolor and Italeri acrylics, plus a few other paints for metallic parts; the black base coat was airbrushed, and so was the steel shoulder armor and the face base coat. All the rest is brush painted. Any comments welcome, hope you enjoy it. Ciao
  15. Hey guys, As the title suggests, the nozzle in my Sparmax SP-20 just sheared when I was cleaning it, (was only finger tightening it?) Anyone know how best to get the nozzle threading out from the brush? Or should I just return to sender and have them replace it? I'd understand if the brush was old, I've not even had it a month. Thoughts? Cheers! Ugghhhhhhhh
  16. Hi Folks, In among my other work, I decided to do this rather beautifully cast Bust of a Barbarian/Warrior. Only two parts (the body and the shield with sword attached). Supplied from Model Display Products. This is going to be given to one of my bosses at work (couldn't hurt, eh? ) as she is a very talented artist in her spare time with a penchant for Barbarians. Paints are mainly Acrylics (predominantly Lifecolor and a couple of Tamiya) with metallics by AK Interactive (their tubes of metallic waxes) and some Alclad Pale Gold (brush painted over gloss black acrylic). Any and all comments and questions are welcomed. Here are a selection of views: Thanks for Looking Kev
  17. I picked up this 1/6 Resin bust from tommys war stand at the BMSS nationals a couple of years ago. for £5 ! it wasnt the best kit though as it needed a lot of work getting it to all fit but u think it turned out ok. hope you like it.
  18. Hi everybody; here's my second figure for the year, and only my second bust ever. It's the beautifully sculpted Templar Knight in Jerusalem, from Young Miniatures. It is obviously inspired to Sir Sean Connery (I have a still of "The name of the rose" in which he has exactly the same expression - used for reference when painting his face), I hope I didn't ruin the sculpt too much with my painting. There's an extensive WIP thread here , for anyone who's interested in. Here are the pics: I'm not entirely happy with those pics, I need to take at least a better one frontally. Comments are more than welcome. Ciao
  19. Hey again folks, This is a bust I completed just before Christmas for my local IPMS club Christmas competition, he got 2nd place which I was mightily chuffed with considering the quality of the other work on show from the aircraft and armour modellers, not forgetting the pesky ship diorama that got 1st place (well deserved I may add, it was a cracking diorama and even made last month's Airfix mag). Anyhoo, the bust is from Model Cellar and is entitled Over The Top. He is sold as a Captain of The Gloucester Regt but I've reworked him slightly to depict a Captain of The Norfolk Regt, to give him a more local feel. The base and cap badge were purchased seperately and the barbed wire, poppy and parchment were scratch built. He is painted mostly in water mixable oils over acrylic base coat with the exception of the helmet which was airbrushed in acrylics so that I could try some chipping effects for the first time. Comments and critique are most welcome, as always, for both the model and the photography (I'm still learning, as I'm sure we all are) Thanks for tuning in. Cheers, Billy
