  1. PAF Blue Diamonds F-86F & F-5A 1:48 Blue Diamond Decals The Philippines Air Force (PAF) started their aerobatic display team in 1953 flying P-51s. When these aircraft were retired in 1955 the team was stood down, only to be resurrected in 1959 flying the F-86F. These aircraft were fitted with smoke generators. In 1968 the team reformed on the new F-5A. Until now there have been very few stand alone decals for the team let alone in 1:48. These decals have been produced by the aptly named Blue Diamond Decals from Philippine Military Scale Models. The decals are printed on continuous film with the white backgrounds separate. It is recommended that the modeller seal the decals before cutting them out. The printing looks crisp and clear with no registration issues for the colours. Conclusion While it maybe a niche area of the modelling market it is welcome to see quality decals being produced of the worlds smaller air arms, and of aerobatic subjects. Recommended. 2. Hiya Folks, I know that Pen & Sword books can sometimes be a little hit and miss but I have just bought two absolute crackers which I`m sure will appeal to Post War RAF modellers. The first is; Images of War- The RAF in the Cold War 1950-1970 by Ian Proctor; I have some other books from this series which have been disappointing but this one is a cracker, packed full of top quality colour photos of RAF aircraft and ground personnel with many photos that I have never seen published before including 14 Sqn Canberra B(I)8`s, Phantoms, Lightnings, Pioneer, Twin Pioneer, Vulcan, Valiant, Victor, Javelin, Whirlwind and many, many more! Very Highly Recommended Indeed! Blue Diamonds- The Exploits of 14 Sqn RAF 1945-2015 by Michael Napier; The follow on from the first book `Flying Crusaders' this book covers the rest of 14 Sqn`s highly interesting history, most of which has been spent serving overseas. Starting off with Mosquito`s, each chapter covers the aircraft types employed by the unit and among the personal stories and anecdotes the Cold War years of the unit are brought to life and also illustrated with an excellent collection of photo`s, many of which come from personal collections and have never appeared in print before. There are also colour side views at the back of he book covering each type employed by the unit since 1945, covering Mosquito, Vampire, Venom, Hunter, Canberra, Phantom, Jaguar, Tornado and the current Beechcraft Shadow. Again this book comes Very Highly Recommended. Cheers Tony Edit; This article has appeared in The Mail written by Ian Proctor which contains a few of the photos from his book mentioned above, well worth a look if you like colour 1950`s-60`s RAF Photos; http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2960251/How-RAF-ready-face-Russians-Stunning-images-depths-Cold-War-surface-air-missiles-V-bombers-radar-stations-protecting-Britain.html#ixzz3SGbvABwy
