Hello all from the shed. First finished model of 2024. So, there I was making Chinook HC1 BN for a friend when crack went the canopy while I was giving it a little polish 😧. Nothing for it but to buy another Chinook model for the canopy. As the HC1 was the Airfix kit I thought I would get the Italeri kit for a change. However, it was remarkably similar (in fact identical) to the Airfix one apart from the decals. Just as well I suppose as I was swapping bits between kits. The HC1 built in parrallel has lots of Black Dog resin on it, as I enjoyed using those parts I bought Black Dogs snow shoes for this Italian cab build. I also added a little bit of scratch work in the form of aerials and the decals are a mix of Airfix, Italeri and Model Allience. Its finished using Xtra Color paints and varnishes and is panel lined and weathered using Flory wash and Tamiya powders. Not the best fitting kit but I do like doing a helicopter (two in fact) for a change. I'm looking forward to seing how the new Airfix moulding of the Chinook is in comparison to the old moulds. "Down But Not Out" Black Dog resin base with Panzer Art resin figure, 1/35 scale. Finished with Mr Color lacquers, Tamiya and Vallejo acrylics, and Ammo by Mig enamels. This was my first wedgie diorama and it was a lot of fun. I also managed to crank this out in about 24 hours, which was pretty crazy when I think about it. Comments and criticism welcomed as always!

Hey all, Here's my Tamiya Cromwell. I used Black Dog Models stowage set and hessian set along with Miniart's Tank Crew & Tank Rider's set. The Black dog set utilises an all new resin turret as well as a whole load of stowage. I used a figure from the Miniart Tank Crew set along with the original kit commander along with the tank riders that Miniart do as well. I painted the vehicle using Humbrol Enamels and I weathered it using a mix of oils, Ammo by MiG and pencils. Thanks for looking! Again, thanks for looking guys, Sam

Dear all, I trust you're all well. Here's a look at my recently finished RPM T17E2 Staghound in 1:72, in the markings of the 'Brigade Piron' from the liberation of Brussels and Antwerp in 1944. RPM has produced a great little kit with tons of detail, although rather over-engineered in places. The turret for consists of over a dozen parts, which is why I choose to swap it for a (correct for this version) resin one from Modell Trans from Germany, with a brass 37 mm main gun to top it off. As I wanted to show the entrance hatch open, I included the interior from the kit with some extra added details, and also glued the basket under the turret. The equipment came from various sets from Black Dog, the figure is from Tom Taylor Modelworks. For the decals I used the 'Brigade Piron' sheet from Braille Strike, that has several more armoured cars from this unit on it. Weathering was kept rather light, I just added a black brown pin wash and finished it off with a dusting from Tamiya's weathering set A. I hope you like it. Peter

#20/2016 Here´s my dad´s newest little armour model, suiting for today´s 4th July. Hobby Boss kit with USMC/Wading conversion from Black Dog. Painted with Gunze and Tamiya acrylics and Faded Olive Drab from Model Master. The eagle-eyes among you may notice that the numbers are slightly of different size. The decals were taken from the sparesbox and didn´t belong together, saw too late the slight difference, but the Marines always had to improvise Somewhere on an island in the Pacific....

British Sherman Hessian Tape Camo (for Dragon Kit) 1:72 Black Dog Hessian tape camouflage was widely used on British and Commonwealth vehicles during and after the Normandy landings in June 1944. It was comprised of netting to which strips of brown, green or khaki coloured tape were attached. Its primary function was, or course, to disguise the vehicle and make it difficult to pick out from the natural environment. This type of camouflage can look very effective when scaled down, although it can be difficult to achieve in the smaller scales without the use of aftermarket sets such as this one. For those not familiar with the name, Black Dog are manufacturers of resin and photo etched conversion sets, figures and diorama accessories from the Czech Republic. They have a number of innovative and exciting products in their range, including this new set designed for the Dragon Sherman Firefly. The set arrives packed into a sturdy cardboard box filled with plenty of packing foam to protect the contents. It is comprised of a new upper hull, a turret and a barrel for the fearsome 17 pounder anti-tank gun. An additional part representing a neat collection of stowed kit covered with a tarpaulin is also provided. The parts are nicely cast in grey resin and I couldnt find any bubbles or flaws anywhere. The level of detail that Black Dog have managed to achieve is very impressive indeed. The complex tape pattern has been captured well, and the strips of tape are arranged in a convincing and natural way. The resin is quite flexible too, which helps prevent any of the delicate tape strands from breaking off. The only work that will need to be done in order to prepare the set for use is the removal of a casting seam around the upper hull. This should only take twenty minutes or so with a sharp scalpel blade. The component parts look like they were based on the original kit parts, so hopefully there won't be any issues with fit and finish. Conclusion This is the first product from Black Dog that I have been able to get my hands on, and I have to say I am very impressed. The quality of casting is excellent and the level of detail is absolutely first class. Of course Dragon's small scale armour kits are amongst the best around, so any accessory set designed around them will be built on strong foundations. This set from Black Dog certainly has the wow factor and it should look mightily impressive when complete. Review sample courtesy of
