  1. I tend to overdo things just a little bit.... It's exactly the same with my P-61 build. I can't help myself, when I try to build things out of the box I end up scratchbuilding most of it. So I thought to myself why not start a second long term project that involves a lot of scratch building. I take my inspiration from the likes of Airscale, tomprobert and roymattblack on these forums, all you amazing scratch builders out there inspire me to try on pretty much the worst best idea ever. A 1/32 Handley Page Victor K2. This all being said I could not even have started out on this project without the help of Antti_K and his mountain of resources on the Victor. You truly are a hero Antti. I shall be using the plans that were provided to me as a reference to the build along with my Wilhemshavener Modellbaubogen cardboard model plans that I recently acquired. The plastic required for this build is going to be epic in volume so I've gone ahead and ordered a few 1000x600mm sheets of the stuff in various thicknesses. All the plans and references have been scaled up to what can only be described as 1:31 scale. So let's just call it 1:32. I am not going to be aiming for 100% correctness as long as it looks the part. That's the main thing here. I am in love with the looks of this magnificent aircraft. So no more words and just a single picture to prove why this might be one of the worst ideas ever:
  2. The Trumpeter 1/16th JagdTiger is in stock at Axel's Modelbaushop. Mine shipped yesterday and I am hoping it will be delivered today.
  3. Well She is finished. Big Bad Bonnie was the first B-25 i ever saw flying. Back in the early 80s at Stapleford in Essex. When Kitsworld produced the decals i new i had to build one. This one came up on ebay for a very good price so i snapped it up. The build went OK but it was one of those models where i had bad luck along the way. First of all i accidently poked the seats out after the model was already finished. This meant i had to get them back in through the turret opening , then the dog got hold of the nose glazing and cracked it. Luckily my friend had a spare one , then one of the scratchbuilt exhausts fell into the rear of the engine , which meant i had to pull the engine off to get it back out. The model Has been modified to represent the TB-25 , so i had to remove some exhaust stubs form the cowlings and make a new exhaust. The hardest part was scratchbuilding the new taller squarer carb intakes. It is fitted with SAC metal legs. I had seen and heard bad things about these but mine were perfect. The noseweight is the profimodeller one but i needed to add more to it so be aware! Wheels are the superb Brassin one. Prop blades are loon models and of coarse the decals from Kitsworld. Im very please its done , but im starting to wish i had gone for a 1/48 one. Its a bit large and i dont really know where to put it!
  4. Just clocked this over on Armorama, looks very nice indeed. http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=SquawkBox&file=index&req=viewtopic&topic_id=226523 Regards Dan
  5. Second part of photos this time covering the Saturn V [/ URL] Enjoy Dan
  6. I dreamed of owning one of the Tamiya 1/16 tanks when i was younger. The King Tiger was the one i wanted. It had a rotating turret and a strobe light in the barrel! Trouble was , it was very expensive , and then there was the radio gear and battery which were also very expensive. I ended up having the Leopard which was the cheapest but very much loved. This is the 1981 version of the KT with the single motor , twin clutch setup. I have not run it and im not sure i will. Its totally new built other than the modern 540 motor. I will be replacing this with the original old one soon. Im also hoping to get period radio gear , battery and maybe a kit box if im lucky. Ive airbrushed it in the ambush style , but i did not really follow a certain tank so its probably not 100% accurate. Well its taken long enough but i have the tank i always wanted and at a very nice price. Right 1/16 Leopard A4 next methinks! Nice shiny new internals
  7. Ive had this since they were reissued. It came from Creative models in Cambridge. I tried getting one for a while. I built 2 of these in the past , one was standard Nasa the other was a Moonraker one with LED engines and cockpit , once built they are VERY impressive. This one is the latest reissue , but its still hard to get in the UK. The fit on the original issue fuel tank was a bit poor. The halves were warped and took alot of hard work to get them together straight. Luckily this latest issue doesnt seem to have the same problems. I got the halves together with mr cement liquid glue in about half an hour. Thats the hardest part of the build done first , just need to rub it down and try to match in the textured parts. I like the box art too. Heres the tank. Thats a large 500ml Halfords can in the photo. More soon....
  8. Just finished the build, my first train model try which I enjoyed building. Looks more weathered in some of the pictures than it actually is somehow. Regards...
