  1. Hi to all. I am pleased to show you this finished kit. It is the H asegawa's Bf 109F-6/U "Galland special, # 09521. I tried to depict one of the F versions modified by Galland. I hope you like it. Best regards, Pablo
  2. Hi to all. I started this lovely kit, the Galland special Bf 109F-6/U, wich acually was a F-2 model with some Galland's personal modifications, as the adittion of MGFF 20 mm cannons in the middle of both wings, plus a bulge that covers the drum magazine. For depict this model, Hasegawa cleverly adds the cannon tips in white metal and the underwing magazine covers in PUR. I took care of gluing a plastic piece as a limit for the metal pieces of the wnig mounted cannons. I used a resin cockpit of muy spare box, I don´t remember the brand. I also added a door with its fixinng strap in the back of the cockpit. I added a set of photoetched seat belts form my spare box too. I hope you like it. Regards, Pablo
  3. My first aircraft completion since April, the AZ Model Bf 109F competed out of the box as an aircraft captured by 1 Squadron SAAF in Libya, 1942. Intended as a quick build using what paints I had, so can only be considered a representation. Brush painted with Tamiya and Italeri acrylics, made grubby with oils and finished with a brushed on coat of Italeri acrylic flat clear. Build thread can be found here. Nice, easy, quick build - very relaxing way to ease into the vacation. Thanks for looking and Seasons Greetings to all!
  4. It’s been a long time since I have done an aircraft build thread, but with the start of the summer vacation, and making progress on some vehicles this last week I felt like getting back to aircraft. My local hobby shop has just had a big restock, and in amongst the new kits was this. The box top scheme really tickled my fancy, so I grabbed one. Looks reasonably straightforward: Plan is to do a straightforward quick build over the weekend before the Christmas shenanigans starts. I’m going to make due with the paints I have in stock, so it may be that the colours will be a bit off. So, making a start at 10 am after the Saturday morning chores, first job is to glue all the parts of the cockpit using Tamiya extra thin cement. After a quick check with the exhausts, it looks like they can be added later from the outside. Just in case, I glued some plastic card on the inside so when I do add them I don’t push them all the way through by accident. Then on with some paint with brushes, using Tamiya XF-24 for the inside of the cockpit. The propeller hub received a coat of Tamiya X-7. That’s the state of play at 12 noon.
  5. Dear All, As part of my current thread regarding the wheel wells on the F2 and F4 variants I've discovered a bit of a puzzle which hopefully some Bf 109 experts out there can help clarify for me please. I received a highly informative and detailed reply to my thread on the wheel well shapes which confirmed that there was never an F-2/Trop version, and so presumably never an F-2z/Trop either, which I found surprising as all the written and on-line references I have refer to such a beast, albeit the Trop modification being carried out in the field. So can anyone confirm whether the F-2/Trop was an official designation/specification for this aircraft or is it just a designation that has arisen over time by historians and/or modellers to cover off those F-2's which were retro-fitted with the dust filter? Apologies if this subject has been covered previously. Regards Colin.
  6. Dear All, I'm currently building two Bf 109F's in 72nd scale, the AZ F-4 and the Zvezda F-2, and wondering about the correct shape of the wheel wells. The AZ kit has the rounded style which I believe to be correct, and the Zvezda kit has the angular version seen on the Emil and Gustav so wondering if this is correct for an F-2? My understanding is that the original F-0 and early F-1's retained the angular shape of the Emil but thereafter all F versions had the rounded shape, however I have a pic of an F-4/R1 with the angular shaped wells ('Augsburg Eagle' by William Green, page 79). So my question is was the rounded shape uniform or, much like the strengthening plates at the tail which are often seen not just on early F versions, did it vary depending upon which factory the aircraft was built in? The tail strengthening plates appear to vary depending upon when particular factories adopted the new modification so wondering if this is also the case for the wheel wells, as suggested by this pic of an F-4? If so then I can then happily leave the F-2 wheel wells as is. Apologies if this has already been covered in a previous thread. Regards Colin.
  7. Here is one of several Sweet 1:144 Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 kits which I built back in 2008. It represents "<<--", of Stab/JG54, Luftwaffe, flown by Geschwaderkommodore Major Hannes Trautloft, from Relbitsy, Russia, in March 1942. The kit was painted and varnished by brush. Thank you for looking and all comments are welcome Miguel
  8. Bf 109F Essentials 1:48 Eduard Brassin - BigSIN In this set Eduard offer us the 109F cockpit, wheels, control surfaces and pitot tubes. Cockpit Set The set gives you a complete new cockpit including sides and floor which will fit into the model with some work being needed on the kit moulded details. A mix of resin and PE goes into this to create a small model in itself. There is the option of using a one part instrument panel, or a multi part one using the PE & film supplied. Though lets be honest if you are going to the time, trouble, and expense of this set then it really has to be the multi part affair. Control Surfaces This set has has the rudder, tail surfaces and flaps in resin. Balance horns are also supplied in resin. Trim tabs are supplied on a small pe fret (not pictured). Wheels This set has the two man wheels with separate spoked hubs. The tail wheel is moulded with its strut in a stronger type of resin. Bf 109F&G Pitot tubes This set has three replacement pitot tubes in resin to replace the kit parts. These will I suspect be more susceptible to damage than the kit parts despite looking more realistic. Review samples courtesy of
  9. Hey guys, here is my latest work - the kit is very nice Eduard 1/48 Bf 109F-4. It was finished in a bit over a week - on very last minute i have decided to go and see the Moson kit show this year, as it was my dream for some time already. And because i did not want to go there with empty hands, i had to build something.. The kit is amazing, goes together realy well and all problems vere caused just by myself and the limited time i had. I have used the Profipack boxing, so i had some basic PE sheet and canopy masks from the box,on top of that i bought the Eduard Brassin flaps - the flaps in the kit have sadly some sink marks (i have noticed it on the G-6 kit earlier too, which is using the same sprues with little parts) and also the Brassin flaps have some very nice details added. Because of the rushing i did not make any WIP thread around, so hope you wont mind some WIP shots I have added a bit of details on the cockpit sidewalls - mainly in the front areas as these were totaly empty (but as you ll see later, these front areas of the pit are almost not at all visible after the fuselage is glued together). I wanted to create some textures for the basic camouflage as i was not sure how many of it ll be visible later (did not know how much of the white i m going to remove, but on my next winter camouflage model i m going to skip this step as totaly nothing of this is visible later, so it is just waste of time/paint.. + so many paint layers effectively lowers the visible details later. But when i have already put the time in, here we go with the shots The original idea was to make the winter camo scheme and also some snowy base. As a part of it, i wanted to make the canopy glass icy/frozen from inside as i have seen it like that on some photos. So i tried some stuff for re-creating ice on it. At first it looked ok, but in the end.. well.. simply it did not turn as good as i hoped. The snow on the base also did not look good to me, so i have scraped the idea for now... I ll need to practice and try more and more Then the fun with Washable white started (in my case from AK751 as it was in stock in local hobby store). The effects you can achieve with this kind of paint is very nice, also the effect depends on how long you let the white paint dry, before you going to wash it off. Long drying time makes the paint goes off in some kind of chips, after short drying time the paint is washed off in sort of "fuzzy" way First layer of washable white, washed off after long dry time Second layer of washable white, washed off after short dry time Third layer: chipping flow + dusty layer of flat "dirty" white, chipped down after few minutes, followed by brown-ish filters (mainly on wing roots where the crew would be moving) And here it is in the very end I m sorry for so many shots, but you know me guys, i cant decide which shot to use, so i use more of them... And trust me, i have used only like half of the images i have made.. Hope you like the result and thanks for watching guys Have a great day.
