  1. My next build continues with Erprobungsgruppe 210 - this time I want to build a Bf110D. I have no link to this other than my mother lives in Southampton, over which the aircraft was targeting the Supermarine works on the night of 24th Sept 1940. Interestingly one of my other builds, a Spitfire flown by Crelin Bodie, is mentioned in my main reference source for the build, Bombsites over Britain, by John J Vasco. His Sqn, 66 Sqn RAF, engaged 3 x Bf110 over Aldebugh, downing 1 x Bf110D. This build will be of Bf110D-0 of the 1st Staffel, Wr 2284 coded S9 + HH. I
  2. Greetings to you all, looks like we are getting a new re-boxing of Eduard's 1/72 Bf 110C/D. The distributor leaflet suggests that it will be a limited edition titled "Adlertag" and will presumably cover markings of aircraft participating in the Battle of Britain. Judging by other releases, there is a some chance that it will have some resin add-ons, or perhaps just a larger decal sheet. We shall see. Jan
  3. I'm pleased to present my latest build, the Eduard 1/72 Bf110. It's a lovely kit which goes together with no issues at all. I've made it pretty much out of the box including the PE provided by Eduard - look at the sight on that rear gun! The only extras are the riveting, a bit of plasticard to add some detail in the wheelbays and aerial wires from stretched sprue. She's airbrushed with Tamiya and Mr Color acrylics and weathered with artists oils. The huge school boy error I made early on in the build was to use the wrong fuselage parts for the 110D I wanted to complete but I've made peace with
  4. Hello guys, here's my most recently completed model! It's Heinz Wolfgang Schnaufer's Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4 from Revell/Pro Modeller. I used Print Scale and Xtradecal decals to get this model finished.
  5. Hello all - Just finished my Airfix 110. Built pretty much OOB - added some Eduard seatbelts, some Mig rigging for the antenna and replaced the under side circular antenna with some wire. I attempted to improve the cockpit details with some scratch built elements. I used the kit scheme - Staffel II / Zerstorergeschwadar 1, Northern France 1940-1941. The scheme is very dark - RLM 70 / 71 so I attempted a very worn air frame look to try and make it a little more interesting - I think this was successful but I sacrificed colour accuracy in the process. The kit itself is far from an accurate repre
  6. I would build a Bf110G-2 with belly 37mm gun for my friend. When searching photos, I found an article building eduard's kit: http://modellboard.net/index.php?topic=37170.0 The author removed rear-firing MG81Z, replaced this area with a large tank. I don't understand German, in translator it reads"The central part of the tank of a 1:48 Revell-Eurofighter formed the basis for the tank of the GM-1 system. I built the cannon magazine in front of the radio seat out of round profile and plastic strips." Origin words: Das Mittelteil des Tanks eines 1:48er Revell-Eurofighters
  7. So I had originally entered the Academy A-10 (Iraqi Freedom) kit in to this GB but unfortunately this has suffered from irreparable damage caused by me stupidly knocking it flying off the bench. After a fair amount of expletives and raised blood pressure, I have since gathered my composure and being the bigger man that I am have decided to continue with the GB but only this time with the following kit: This is a superb looking kit with some excellent detailing - particularly for the cockpit. It comes with a variety of options for paint schemes and I am drawn to 2 at the m
  8. We've got the new (non weekend edition) Eduard December and January kits on our website now (see the future release section). That's the 1/48 Bf109F Royal Class, 1/72 Spitfire F Mk IXc profipack, re-issue Bf110G-4 Profipack and Sikorsky flying boat, all with better than 10% off UK RRP! In fact the Bf109F Royal Class is almost 1/3 off what another well known large retailer is advertising it for!! Please check out the listings and fill your email address out if you're interested in any of them (you'll be emailed when they are in stock) and if you want more than 1 of any, please messa
  9. Just a quick message for anyone interested in cheap Eduard 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf110 kits. We have the Bf110C-6 Ltd Ed kit in stock for only £17, the C/D profipack for only £11, the E profipack for only £12.20, The G-2 Profipack for £14.20 and lastly the weekend Bf110C for a mere £6.50!!! So head over to our website and give me something to pack tomorrow! thanks Mike
  10. Ok so I have reached a stage in my modelling where I am thinking I may have sufficient airbrush 'time' served to have a go at some of the German WW2 aircraft I have in my ever growing stash! Whats put me off so far is the 'mottling' but I would really like to master this technique so can anyone give me any tips or point in the right direction on BM or anywhere on how to do this effectively. I should say I am using an Iwata HP-C + in terms of airbrushes (if that makes any difference). Any videos I can watch I guess would be most useful! thanks Chris
  11. Dear Fellow Modellers I heard good reports of the new Eduard 1/72 Bf110 series and they weren't wrong! I added Eduard resin wheels, and rear MG15 as well as Quickboost exhausts. The markings are from the kit as ZG76, an aircraft brought down in the latter part of the Battle of Britain near Tonbridge. ZG76 retained their old fashioned RLM70 and 71 scheme throughout the battle. The Bf 110 had a good record in the Battle of France with the best kill to loss of any fighter by my analysis. But in the Battle of Britain they had less chance of carrying out bounces due to radar and the reque
  12. So I thought I would pick up something nice and simple to keep me going until my SU-33 & MiG 29 arrive from China. Browsing around the many excellent stalls at Bolton model show I decided upon this gem (£16): I have a 1/32 Eduard Bf109 E-4 on the bench which kind of swayed me to this kit, as I have found the Emil a nice model to build, apart from the shocking fit of the lower wing to the fuselage. ( I have had to strip the paint off the Emil as I found that Humbrol clear over Gunze Sangyo Aqueous is a non starter , I will probably paint both together to save on paint / time) Not know
  13. And all through the skies, Not a creature was stirring not even the flies. The ammo was stacked by the cannons with care, In hope that the Englanders soon would be there. Hey all After my brief bout of insanity, during which I constructed a car model (see http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234991043-deuces-wild/) I have returned to the side of light and reason with yet another aircraft Today I present Revell's 1/48 Bf 110G-4 finished as the example flown by Obst. Hans-Joachim Jabs of NJG 1 in the spring of 1945. Enjoy... So the Revell/Promodeller Bf
  14. Hello Everyone, This is my third build for Karen at work. This time I have gone for the "enemy" and provided the BF110, before anyone asks or notices, I am not allowed to put any swastikas on the aircraft. Complete crock I think but I can live with it. I used an Eduard Zoom set for the interior and mask for the canopy, both I will be using again, but not relying on them. Oh I also had an Eduard Brassin MG15, which I also like as well and I will be using the other one that I have. I'm not too sure on the colours, but this is what Vallejo suggest and I am aware of the cock up on the righ
  15. Bf 110C-4 AX772, 1426 Flight RAF built for the Messerschmitt Bf 110 STGB . My first Group Build, and my first finished model for 2015. I have never built a German aircraft before, but a photo of a captured Bf110C-4 tickled my fancy. The aircraft is Bf 110C-4 AX772. This was originally a Luftwaffe reconnaissance machine brought down near Goodwood in July 1940. It was then repaired at RAE Farnborough, tested and eventually found its way to 1426 Flight RAF, the unit responsible for evaluating and demonstrating captured enemy aircraft. It would appear to have been painted in a couple of diff
  16. Hi All I'm jumping in here as a (slightly) late entrant with Dragon's Bf110D-3. I've turned up this photo via Hyperscale of what looks to be the actual aircraft shown on the box art... Usually I'm one for browsing the aftermarket decal selection, but since I've owned the kit I've not seen anything I prefer to this so think I'll be sticking with it. I'll be plucking the kit from the garage tonight, and should have some progress posted up fairly soon Jon
  17. Bf110C-6 2N+RH of 1./EprGr.210, St.Omer, July 1940 This is the Eduard 1/72 Bf110C-6 Limited Edition built for the Bf110 STGB build thread here This model represents the aircraft flown by Leutnant Erich Beudel and his gunner Obergefreiter Heinrich Diemer, which took off at 16.35 on 29 July 1940 to take part in the gruppe's attack on the convoy codenamed 'CAT'. As the attack developed the 110's were intercepted by Hurricanes of 151 Squadron and this aircraft was one of those damaged in the attack and later crash-landed back at St.Omer.
  18. My 11yr old daughter decided that she wanted to build a model plane, so off we went to the local Hobbycraft with some Christmas money burning a hole in her pocket. After much deliberation, she settled on the Airfix Bf110C-2 - purely because she likes the shark's teeth on the nose! Also on the shelf was the Bf110E-2 Trop, so I decided that we would do a parallel build together. She's done the vast majority of the cutting and trimming of parts (new knife skills for her and palpitations for me!), she used my airbrush to paint it (Lifecolour and Tamiya acrylics), did all her own glueing and sand
  19. I can almost feel the grass growing under my feet, so I would like to start my second build... It's another one of these: I'll be finishing it in the markings of this aircraft from Eprobungsgruppe 210 (the middle one): ...from the Authentic Decals sheet 72-40 for the Bf110D: I've bought the Quickboost exhausts to add to it as I was very impressed with them, and their ETC 500 bomb-rack... which actually doesn't look very different from that provided by Eduard, but I will use it anyway... ... and it will be painted with Phoenix Precision Paints RLM65/71/02: So today I will be m
  20. Bf110D-0/B S9+HH of 1./EprGr.210, Denain/Boulogne-Ost, September 1940 I've just finished this, the Eduard 1/72 Bf110C/D Profipack Edition built for the Bf110 STGB, build thread is here This model represents the aircraft flown by Leutnant Ulrich Freiherr von der Horst and his gunner Obergefreiter Franz Öllers, which was destroyed on 24 September 1940 following the gruppe's second raid of the day on the Supermarine factory at Woolston. The aircraft crashed in the channel off Southampton and Ltn. von der Horst and Gfr. Öllers were both killed
  21. Hi All Time to join the GBs rather than watch from the sidelines, this one will be OOB. I'm also joining the KUTA & Bomber Command GBs, if I finish the 3 it will be a blooming miracle ! Cheers Pat
  22. Bf110C-1 M8+FH of 1./ZG76, Norway, April 1940 Finished this yesterday, the Eduard 1/72 Bf110C/D Profipack Edition built for the Bf110 STGB, build thread is here This aircraft, flown by Unteroffizier Helmut Mütschele and gunner Gefreiter Karl Lorey, was shot down on 09 April 1940 by Sergeant Kristian Fredrik Schye of the Royal Norwegian Air Force, flying Gloster Gladiator No.427. Helmut Mütschele and Karl Lorey survived the crash without injury and were taken as Prisoners of War by Norwegian forces. Minutes later Sergeant Schye was shot do
  23. Poised and eager: I'm not sure what markings I will be going with, I have approximately 1 metric tonne of 110 decals in the bank so will have a sort through later and see what appeals... For sprue shots etc. please see Woody's excellent review here Cheers, Stew
  24. Just a quick reminder that we have Eduard's excellent Messerschmitt Bf110G-4 Nightfighter Profipack in stock now for a mere £15.50!! That's almost £10 off UK RRP!!! So if you've not already got probably the best Bf110G-4 in 1/72, now's the time to grab one while they're really cheap! http://www.mjwmodels.co.uk/02eduard-172--kits---profipack-132-c.asp thanks Mike
  25. Hi all This is my most recent finished project, a BF110 C-4/B from the new tooling Airfix range. I'm becoming a huge fan of these new new toolings. They are easy to build and have a crispy detail overall, not to mention the decals, very good quality and a lot of stencils provided. I've built out of the box with no accessories added. My intention was to represent a plande from the II/Schnellkampfgeschwader 210 Operation "Barbarossa", Eastern front, 1941. This is what I got: Please feel free to comment and critic (critics
