  1. #14/2023 After the Peruvian Tucano, here´s an Ecuadorian counterpart for the Cenepa War between the two countries in 1995. My dad used the nice Trumpeter kit with Aztec decals. Painted with a lightened Gunze H331 BSC Dark Sea Grey, Gunze H303 FS34102 and AK Real Color Forrest Green FS34079. Tail antennas with 0,3mm plastic rods and the fuselage antenna with a 0,4mm one. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235123931-cenepa-war148-cessna-a-37b-dragonfly-fuerza-aérea-ecuatoriana/ Ecuador received their first A-37 in 1976. They came in SEA camo and stayed that way during the Paquisha War between Ecuador and Peru in 1981. Later on most of them were repainted in an EURO like scheme, some kept the SEA camo. Peru also used A-37s in both wars. Aztec stated in the decal instructions, that the FAE A-37s had large yellow triangles with black outlines painted on wings and tail to distinguish them better from the FAP ones during the 1995 war, but found no foto proof of that. The 1981 Paquisha was the one and only time when A-37 engaged against each other in an aerial combat/dogfight. In 2009 the FAE started to phase out their A-37s and replacing them with Super Tucanos. 2. This kit is one of the very nice Fujimi Mig 21s, of which I have built several of. My particular boxing was the SMT, or the Hump Back as they are know. One problem was, the plastic that appeared in the box was that of the Bis, as indicated by the word being molded into the inside of the fuselage spine. Not only that, they give you the MF tail, The main external difference between the Bis and MF is the fuselage avionics hump proceeds further down the base of the tail in the MF bis. I think this may have been a packaging error as I've seen other boxings online with similar parts and those with the correct parts for the SMT. Anyways never mind, I can make an MF from the parts I have, so that's what I did. Aztec Decals Latin Eagles II was used. I was rather attracted to the top surface camouflage of this particular mig. The kit itself builds very well with adequate detail for the scale, it does not require any nose weight but it is recommended to put a couple of grams in the forward nose just to make sure. Decals are also very nice and lay down well under Mr Mark decal solution. Another aircraft is added to my Cuban collection.
  3. Not my usual kind of subject (no propeller...), but I joined an F-16 group build of my regional model club. I'm not very interested in the 50 shades of grey that normally adorn modern jet fighters, so I opted for an aircraft in the SEAC colours of the Venezuelan Air Force, with the bright commemorative markings for the 25th anniversary of the 'Dragones'. The kit is from Revell, that I kindly acquired from a fellow modeller from Denmark, through the Scalemates network. The decals are from Aztec, and using the 'strong' version of Daco decal setting solution they confirmed beautifully on the tail. I hope you like it. Peter
  4. #6/2023 After the Cuban T-33, my dad continues with the Latin American subjects. Airfix Canadair F4 kit with Aztec decals. The white weapons block on the left nose side isn´t provided by Aztec, made a rectangle with decal stripes. Also the nose gear front cover number isn´t provided, used a number decal from the sparesbox. MB Mk.10 resin seat from PJ Productions. Painted with Tamiya XF-57 Buff, Gunze H303 FS34102, Gunze H309 FS34079 and Tamiya White. Well, the kit is no Tamigawa, molding and fit in some areas could be better and it has the Airfix typical "crude" panel lines. But all in all it goes together without major problems. Added a little plastic rod between fuselage and rear area of the canopy to have a better stabilization for the open canopy. Special thanks to fellow Britmodellers Martin Williams and Alex Sosa for providing some useful pics. Alex Sosa is from Honduras and his father served with the FAH and flew the Sabre. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235119477-old-mayan-warrior148-canadair-sabre-f4-fuerza-aérea-hondureña/page/2/ In 1976 the FAH acquired ten former Yugoslavian Canadair Mk4 (F-86E(M). Initially they were painted in a 2-tone sand/green upper camo and came with the original NAA seat. After an incident/accident with one of these seats, they were replaced with Martin Baker seats, as it looks on pics Mk10. During the years the planes were repainted in a SEA like camo scheme and towards their service life end in 1986 they looked very worn with faded, washed out and chipped paint. 5. Now that the Cuban T-33 is almost finished, ma dad gets ready to start the next Latin subject. Hoduras used ten former Yugoslav AF Canadair Sabres from 1976 to 1986. Sources differ, some say ten Canadair F4, some eight Canadair and two F-86F. Gonna use the Airfix kit with Aztec decals. Furthermore a resin seat from PJ Productions, the FAH Sabres have been fitted with a MB 10 seat. 6. #14/2019 Tamiya M kit, Aztec decals, Eduard seatbelts, EZ Line for the antenna wire, MRP White Aluminium for the NMF. All nose trim, wing and fuselage stripes are painted. Although Aztec provides decals for all the outlines, my dad decided to paint them too. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235053258-aztec-warrior148-republic-p-47d-thunderbolt-fuerza-aerea-mexicana/ The model shows an aircraft of the 201st Fighter Squadron of the Mexican Airforce shortly after WW2. The unit was established during the war and fought alongside the USAAF in the Pacific. The 201st is still an active duty unit, using Pilatus PC-7. 7. I haven't posted for a while, loss of modelling mojo but I have finally completed the AMK 1/72 Kfir as a Colombian AF C12 I added the High Planes refuelling probe, Master brass pitot and some Eduard brass in the cockpit. The decals are from Aztec the only thing I would say about these is that the 'No Pise' markings on the trailing edge are in black and the pictures I have seen on the internet suggest they should be in red. The weathering was kept minimal as these Colombian jets seem to be kept very clean. 8. My project for this group build will be Hasegawa’s F4U-5N Corsair in the colours of the Argentine Navy, 2nd Attack Squadron. Argentina used Corsairs for around 10 years retiring them in the mid 1960s when they were painted in very light gull grey/white scheme. There is evidence of them flying off ARA “Independecia” which had been HMS “Warrior”. The Corsairs were used in action during an attempted Army coup, attacking Army targets. I will using in addition to kit JT75, Aztec Decals, True Details wheels, Quickboost gun barrels and Eduard Superfabric WW2 USN seatbelts. Some initial photos. Thanks for looking. Grahame.
  9. More or less finished! easy build, no complications at all. After the Italeri's more scratch than kit MiG-23 and KP's heavily modified Su-22 nearly too easy quite relaxing and great to see where modern manufacturing methods can lead! small spare PE upgrade of the Mk 10 ejection seat I liked Aztec decals quite a lot they offer this unique scheme of this not so well known operator of the mighty and long living Kfir. It is the older scheme, now Sri Lankan roundels are a bit bigger and look different. (provided on the second aztec sheet ) very recomendable kit! work in progress and more detail: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234951106-kfir-c2-amk-148-decals-on/ a suitable bomb load will follow soon, a MER is also provided in the kit, as well as an assortment of dumb and 2 types laser guided bombs old style GBU-12s and Israeli Griffin regards Werner
  10. SF-5M AE.9 Ala 23 Talavera aIr base, Spanish Air Force Classic Airframes 1/48 Aztec Decals I am a bit late with my entry, because of too many things I am working on at the moment... nevertheless I promised to take part here as well, so here we come! I'm gonna use Aztec low viz decals as when I bought them those were the only ones available for a modern Spanish F-5M ( in the meantime Series-espanolas released a very comprehensive F-5 sheet... http://series-espanolas.com/en/35-se2148-casa-northrop-sf-5a-sf-5b-srf-5a.html the current F-5Ms are used for advanced training from Talavera airbase in the west of Span. they are modernized with glass cockpit, Hotas and very recently some got modern ejection seats. as time flies, only one month to go, I will probably only do the most necessary updates in the cockpit and use the old ejection seats! maybe I will add some ordnance though... many nice pictures here: http://www.portierramaryaire.com/foro/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1603&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=75 Expal BR 250 and 500, MK82, practice bomb launcher, etc.... hope you like my idea! regards, Werner
  11. One cannot have enough started kits I think,,,,, while one is drying, youcan always sand some parts, or rescribe something, or else,,, so I decided to do another Mirage with canards, this time it is set to be a Mirage IIIEBR of the Brazilian Airforce (FAB), or F-103E as they used to call them the kit will be the ancient ESCI/ Italeri kit for an Mirage IIIE, still mor or less the only choice out of the box. As I bought a Neomega resin cockpit once for it and also got an AML exhaust nozzle, I really wanted to build it once.... so here it is.... parts are already partially rescribed, the raised lines were quite crude. (as is my rescribing for the moment...) Resin parts are cleaned and dry fitted, so far so good! here some pics: hope it turns out at least somehow decent!! Werner
