  1. Here is my Attack 1:144 Shenyang J-5 radar test-bed which I built back in 2014. It represents 2424, of the PLAAF, China, in late 1950s/early 1960s. This aircraft is now an exhibit iat the Changping Air Museum, Beijing. I couldn't find much about this prototype. It seems to have been a test-bed for the radar-equipped J-5A. A source claimed only one was modified this way but I found photos of a second one in another museum. Interestingly, the Russians had made the same configuration tests before settling in the result seen on the MiG-17PF variant. These Chinese tests were completely independent from Russian ones. This was a dual package of Attack together with the MiG-17PFU missile-equipped variant. It was the basic MiG-17F kit with a new resin nose. I ignored suggestions of adding the missiles and their pylons since I found no evidence of this prototype ever using them. The kit was built OOB and was fully painted and varnished with brush. Thanks for looking Miguel
  2. Here is my Attack 1:144 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21SMT "Fishbed K" which I built back in 2012. It represents "Yellow 09", of the 582nd IAP, at Chojna airfield, Poland, in late 1980s. The Attack MiG-21 kits were quite basic and have been superseded by the superior Eduard kits. In fact I built this one at the same time as an Eduard kit. I made a series of improvements which included adjusting the nose wheel to correct the sit, adding the intake on the spine and the nose probes (the long one a spare from the Eduard kit), sharpening the nose cone, adding the retraction arms to the main legs and opening the solid-moulded rear sections of the rocket pods. The underfuselage tank was also taken from the Eduard kit. The bombs aren't entirely correct but I left them as they came. I finished the kit in one of the options of the Eduard kit. The colours may not be 100% correct but I didn't find any references to guide me. The kit was painted with brush except for the final light coat of matt varnish which was airbrushed. Thanks for looking Miguel
  3. Hi! I present a model of an unusual machine - Flakhetzer, 1/72 Attack Hobby Kits with PE set from NHDetail and Aber gun barrel.
  4. Hello! Here are a pair of Attack 1:144 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17Fs ("Fresco C") which I built back in 2014 using a Berna Decals sheet (MiG-17 African Air Forces Pt.1) to represent a couple of rarely seen African countries. I built both kits mostly OOB, without adding any cockpit. I only thinned the guns, added the wing probes from metal wire and added the sway braces for the underwing drop tanks. I also added the radio mast. Both were fully painted and varnished by brush. First up: "Red 43" of the Guinea-Bissau Air Force seen at Bissau IAP in 1991. The second one: BF8401, Burkina Faso Army Aviation, in 1991. As always, thanks for looking and all comments are welcome. Miguel
  5. Hello! Here is one of two kits I completed this past weekend. It's Attack's 1:144 scale Sukhoi Su-7B "Fitter A" built as "Red 29" of the Soviet tactical aviation (Frontovaya Aviatsiya), in the early 1960s. The kit was built mostly OOB with only the missing nose and wingtip probes and some main undercarriage arms added from stretched sprue. The thick wing guns were replaced by new ones from stretched sprue. The anti-glare panel was part of a decal from the other kit (Mark I's Su-7BM) which I cut to use as a guide to paint the whole thing since the gap for the windscreen was too narrow. I also hollowed out the rear ends of the rocket pods. The underfuselage pylons should have been placed 1-2mm further back. The distance indicated in the instructions was clearly wrong and I only realised it at the end when I glued on the fuel tanks. The kit was fully painted and varnished with brush. Thank you for looking and all comments are welcome as always Miguel
  6. Hello everyone! Here is one of several 1:144 MiG-17s I built a few years back (this one in 2014). This is Attack's 1:144 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-17PFU "Fresco E", Red 15, PVO (Soviet Air Defence Force), Soviet Central Asia, USSR, late 1950s. This was the final Russian MiG-17 variant, armed with air-to-air missiles. This option also came in Mark I Model's re-issue of the kit. Since the decals were much better in the latter, I used them from here instead of those from the Attack kit. The PFU was a modification of the PF variant and since there were no new-build machines I decided to make it a well-worn machine. The kit was completely painted with brush. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome Miguel
  7. Have just began work on the Curtiss Y1A-8, using 2 of the ancient Rareplanes vacform kits. So far, work has been easy enough, though I fear I may have sanded down too far in a few places. Seeing as the kit includes no interior, decals, or paint schemes, I was hoping perhaps somebody on the forums might know more than I've been able to find. So far, I think I'm going to try to finish the build as one of the Shrikes used in camo trials in the early 30s, with Olive, dark green, and purple upper surfaces, yellow wing bottoms, and blue and white wheel pants. For reference, and to prevent confusion with the A-8 Shrike, here is a photo of one of the Y1A-8s. Note that the B-10 is not on hold- just taking a place on the side until I can clear enough space from the workbench.
  8. Build for the Training Types group build. Build thread.
  9. The Pakistan Air Force's No.1 Fighter Conversion Unit operated FT-5 trainers (export version of the JJ-5) 1975-2012. The kit is very basic having no cockpit and a solid wings with no tabs. With the parts off the sprue you could easily believe this was resin rather than an injection kit.
