  2. Here is the RFI for the last of my quad build for the STGB. Thread here: Summary beneath link if you cant be asked trawling through all this... Summary: I was quite pleased with this kit. Its been slated in reviews for a few shape/accuracy issues but it still looks like an f-16 to me... In terms of fit, engineering and surface details its loads better than the revell kit I also built. Out of the box in some areas like the ejection seat, undercarriage bays and doors I'd go as far to say its better than the tamiya CJ too. Canopy tint is molded in. Proper bubble shape but the price is a seam along the top. Micromeshed away. Build has been upgraded with a quickboost seat, Reskit wheels and an attack squadron P&W drooped/power off style exhaust set, which comes with shroud and inner pipe/afterburner face. Lovely sharp detail Primed in now the default stynylrez. Basic camo paint was in xtracrylix greys first, then I tided up the demarcations/contrast between them and then also faded them a bit with some mixed greys from mr paint black and white. Exhaust in AK metals. Quite pleased with this. Shroud done in titanium with some purple randomly misted over it, then the last ring hard masked for some blue. The nozzle was done in jet exhaust with a touch of purple mixed in, then the very end of the feathers had some blue misted on. Serrated ring at the base of the nozzle where it joins the shroud was brused with some tamiya x32 ti silver enamel. Inside was done white then all dirtied up with some AK track wash. Weapons and pods all in xtracrylix too. Full weapons stencils included which performed very well along with the rest of the cartograph decals. (Standard with the kit) Varnishes were aquagloss to seal decals and prepare for the mig ammo deep grey panel line wash. Then some tamiya flat base was mixed into some aquagloss for a final coat. Hope you like it! Thanks for looking
  3. Hello, F-2F-1 which was being builded here -> http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235007243-grumman-f-2f-1-172-attack-squadron-yellow-wings-part-4/#comment-2504506 has finished. Although this is resin model, is easy to assembly, and I didn't have any problems. Model present FF-1 with VF-7 on the USS "Wasp" in 1940 - neutrality patrol. And some pic. with FF-1. Cheers, Jaro
  4. Harrier Harvest, I was going to go with Harrier Hernia but that doesn't sound quite so exciting! Here is another booby type build followed on from here; http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234964850-wip-booby-harrier-gr3-airfix-172/?view=findpost&p=1694841 This time BOOBS is an abbreviation of Built Out Of Boxed Sets. Airfix harrier Gr1 x3 Airfix Harrier Gr3 Italeri Harrier Gr3 Hasegawa Av8-a Eduard zoom etch for Gr1 x2 and for Gr3 x1, Master models pitots for Gr1x3 and for Gr3x1, Pavla seats for Av8a x2, Pavla Aden gun pods for harriers x2, attack squadron Mk 77 napalm bombs for US aircraft x6 Caracel decals early Av8a sheet all in 1/72 scale. I'm just waiting on a few books (thank you Mr H.Lime for the clue) then I'm going to begin "Operation Vertical" One thing I've learned about model kits, if you find one you like get many before eBay put the price up! Secretly I'm hoping revell release the Hunter Mk6 again. What I'm after is help to make (within the limits of my skill and scale permitting) accurate harriers of Gr1/3 and Av8a types, I'm starting with the American versions as I don't yet have seats for the RAF examples. Any help appreciated for any type under construction (everything in the picture is under construction!) Some builds will be quicker with less effort! Please be patient. . . .
  5. I recieved a surprise Christmas present from a modelling friend; an all resin 1/72 Spitfire PR.XI kit by Attack Squadron. It is a kit that I knew nothing about, nor have read anything about it in magazines or on the net. But oh what a pleasant surprise! Excellent casting, highly detaled cockpit, perfectly clear vacformed canopy (unfortunately only one) very good PE for the smallest deails, and six decal options; four American, one RAF and one Danish AF. Parts breakdown is a bit unconventional, but after having done some dry-fitting the fit seems to be near perfect. The only con I've found so far is the instructions which, although nicely drawn, seem a bit disorganised and have no colour callouts whatsoever for the interior. The latter is no problem for me since I have plenty of references to go by. Very much looking forward to build this kit.
