A bit of fun with my local clubs 6 hour build competition, it was the first in person build for a couple of years. My entire was this offering, as the aircraft didn’t make it to full production I thought I’d go for a North African scheme. All out of the box less for a set of Eduard canopy masks.

Hello colleagues! In late 1928, Handley Page chief designer George Walkert began designing a liner with improved reliability, range, cargo capacity and passenger comfort. ... The project is designated Handley Page H.P.42. The pilot car of the series was already built by 1930. Two versions of Handley Page H.P.42 were developed and produced - for flights on European routes H.P.42W (Western - Western) and for long-distance flights H.P.42E (Eastern - Eastern). These variants of the aircraft differed in engines (the western one was equipped with four 9-cylinder Bristol Jupiter XFBM engines, and the eastern one was equipped with less powerful Bristol Jupiter XIF engines) and passenger compartment capacity. Not a bad set from the 90s for lovers of civil aviation of the 30s of the last century from the AIRFIX company. This model is rooted in the distant 60s of the last century. In spite of its age, the set is quite decent, even if you collect a "box". I tried to diversify and complement the model a little, fantasized a little with the interior, fenders and chassis. As far as possible, to judge you. "Glass" with model PVA, painted Valejio and Mr. Hoby as usual, slightly stained with art oil. At the end there are some pictures from the construction site. I tried to overlay the photo of the salon on the photo, a little awkwardly, but as best I could. Happy viewing. Regards, Mikhail

Over the years I have built quite a few Emils - 2 Revell ones in I suppose the 1960's and at least 5 of the Airfix 1970's moulding but as I have my RLM78/79/80 paint out from my HobbyBoss G-2/Trop I though I would build another. This is a reboxing of the latest Airfix attempt which I believe dates back to around 2010 and I will be building it as a plane of 8/JG 27 in April 1941, hopefully OOB. I always thought the old 1970's version did not look too bad but I suppose this could be even better though no doubt there are going to be some errors somewhere as with most kits? Cheers Pete

Another market tester, the cheap and cheerful Airfix 1/72 P-51D, which could be had for as little as £2.99 recently. The decals were from an ancient 15 year old Hasegawa kit and were headed for the bin until the miser in me kicked in, apart from needing a new bogus tail code due to some ill advised Daco Red all was well. Paint is Alclad and Mr Color as usual, along with my no hole magnetic stand. No aerial wires and pitot left off as this is a "to be posted" item but a personal one would have got some Uschi "rig that thing" fine that looks right in this scale. Only thing that needed effort were the guns which are Albion tube. So number 12 for 2019 and 2 already for July, loving my build fever right now. As I can't get up any enthusiasm for building anything for the display cabinet, these one-a-week builds are keeping my modelling skills honed til inspiration strikes me and I finish my 1/72 'Nam Spook thats been sat forlornly since March. Hi all. Since finishing my last efforts a couple of days ago, I decided to do a little update and maintenance work on some oldies that have been laying about the display case, needing some love and attention. One of these happens to be my conversion of the old, original Airfix A4D-1 kit, back-dated and modified to better represent the prototype, on the day of her toll-out. I can't even remember when I first built this model, but has certainly been many years ago. The model itself was sort of simple and crude, and to a much greater extant than now, so was the level of my work upon it. That being said, making the conversion was a joy and a pleasure. In fact, to confess the truth, I still more dearly enjoy cutting up and modifying a kit, than actually completing it! That may be the reason that at least a couple of walls of my kits have been started, but never finished! In any event, this kit had been finished to my "then" standard, but over the years I found that the landing gear legs had been painted white, and should have been metal; the cable cutter (or is it the pitot?) was missing from in front of the windscreen, and so on. I decided to fix some of the errors, but not to redo the whole aircraft to a higher state of modeling. She is what she is, and shall remain mostly as she has been -- a proper marker for the type of models I built long ago, to get to the type of models I build today. She may not be as fancy as today's effort might be, but, I love her still... As to the mods to the original kit, IIRC, I had to add a bit of a "hump" behind the canopy, made of CA cement, and sanded to the correct shape; I had to backdate the aircraft's tailpipe to the original straight-through tube, vs the "sugar-scoop" king of exhaust of the later variants; I had to add the fairings on either side of the horizontal stabilizers where they meet the vertical stabilizer, and of course, add the long "test boom" to the nose. I may have had to do a little work to the rudder, can't remember for certain: Anyway, here she is, gussied-up a little bit, but not all the way: At the roll-out, the serial number and model type were hidden with paper and tape stuck over them, and this is depicted above. And finally, I was amazed to find -- after much research -- that the underside was actually painted like this: As often happens with people of Scotch and Irish descent (my maternal grandmother was a Flynn, and my wife's grandmother was a MacEntegart), we all spend a lot of time around this time of year...reflecting. Here's to old models, old modelers, ...and days of Auld Lang Syne.... Ed

Hi folks,my eldest wanted a Lancaster so we split Revells British icons set and I got the fighters.The Hurricane was posted a few weeks back but the spitfire was awful due to warpage and a broken canopy,so having an Airfix MK1 in "stock" I used the Blisters,cannon barrels, prop,spinner,and filter from the revell kit to represent a V model,sorry to the purists but no panel line changes were made or anything else that I,m sure were different.Hope you like thanks for looking.

Hi folks,just started Airfix,s Spitfire PR Mkxix ,and looking on the web have seen the BoB memorial flights example with invasion stripes and would love to finish it as that example,I can rustle up the fin flash and roundels out of spares and as no serials seem to be worn be able to do it,was there aircraft finished in an authentic scheme with the stripes and no codes? thanks Steve

Hi folks,I am at the painting stage of the newish tool airfix spitfire two blade prop WZ-T and cannot bring myself to finish it as per the instructions with one upper wing roundel,it just does,nt look right.I have seen a superb build by Bill(Navy bird) on site which I can do from my spare decals stash but I thought I had seen this aircraft with smaller upper wing roundels. but cannot remember where.If this is the case would it still have the two blade prop and carry serials thanks Steve

Hi folks,here,s another Airfix mk1.totally different scheme to that shown on the decal sheet,I had originally asked for information on the underside colour on the sheet and amongst the replies Troy sent me some excellent photo,s of the real aircraft with the sky paint overlapping the wing leading edge and his take on the spinner colour.thanks for looking
