  1. Pretty late to the party, had a quiet 2019 modelling wise, ending with a major health scare a couple of weeks before Christmas, followed by major surgery which was successful, followed by a return to hospital because of an infection. (Deep breath!) So, while I've got a few months recovery, so no grandkids to childmind, and with SWMBO's permission 🙄, I'm gonna try and crack on with a few GB's these next few months. For this one I'm easing my way back into things with hopefully a nice straightforward build, Airfix's nice looking new tool Ju 87, in this case an R-2 from the Dog-Fight Double boxing paired with a Gloster Gladiator (which will get built sometime). I'm going to have a go at brush painting this, I've been using an airbrush since I got back into modelling a few years ago now, but I do that in the loft, and my wife may be a tad reluctant to let me up there for the time being while I recover from the op! I made a start on assembly, everything going together well enough. I like how Airfix have included two pilot's seats, one with belts and one without. Mine is going to be displayed on the ground so have used the one with the belts in place. Onwards and upwards! Davey.
  2. My (really not very good even by my standards) attempt at the new tool 1/48 airfix hurricane in finnish markings. I started this about a month ago and have been plodding on and off at it. The part that makes up well outer wing spar I suppose you'd call it was pretty warped and I had a bit of trouble getting it to stay true. In fact when I came to attach wings to fuselage it became apparent I hadn't done it right Anyway, painted with tamiya acrylics and aftermarket decals (which when I got them looked like they would dissolve but worked pretty well). and next to another hurricane (can you guess the kit maker??):
  3. I shouldn't have done it, but everything I have on the go involves photo etched brass at the moment and I wanted something relaxing to break the monotony. I also wanted something to use my new azure blue on so went on to Airfix's site and bought new tool tropical Hurricane and Spitfire. I am building these OOB save for Ultracast seats (with seatbelts), wheels and exhausts to keep things nice and relaxing. I didn't have the Spitfire seat handy so started with the Hurricane. So far, I love this kit. I started by spraying aluminium paint on Friday before bed, and began assembly on Sunday. The fit of everything so far is entirely acceptable, with the worst area being the chin area but I've seen far worse before. The plastic is maybe a touch soft but completely fit for purpose. Good on ya Airfix!
  4. Hello all Here is my finished new tool Airfix 1/72 EE lightning F.6 Built as XS903 of 11 Sqn circa 1988 I built it straight out of the box bar modifying the Red Tops to drill rounds and decals from a old Modeldecal sheet. tried to replicate the grubby look to the aircraft as it reached the end of its service life. Enjoy :-)
