  1. Hello all! I've decided to tell and show my progress in 320NEO building and painting. First, I've built 4 737's different generations. And later decided to go on with his main competitor A320. First model from Zvezda was finished yet. And now I compare kits from two manufactures and build 320NEO from Revell. So till today I have done this basic work First, it was really useful advise for Revell kits - to paint in dark colour from inside. Otherwise ready model will be yelowish if positioned under bright sun shine. I've used decorix the primer from the cylinder - it has strong adhesion and easy-to apply. So, while fuselage dries up, I've painted cockpit interior. In Russian model communities you can often read something like "I've spent a lot of time for interior but actually, it's "gopher". This slang comes from one old russian comedy. It was one dialogue there: -Do you see the gopher? -No, I don't. -And I don't see, but the gopher exists! So this case is certainly about "gopher" - it's unreal to explore cabin interior in 1/144 scale on ready model. So I must to confess - I hadn't spent too mush time for perfect painting of interior. My "gopher" is ready 😃 So on, the next day I pasted the cockpit and nose gear niche into fuselage. Plus for more reliability added a piece of plastic between them. As Revell says in instruction, 10 g weight was added. I think couple of rubles 🪙 and some plasticine will be enough 😀 And clear details of passenger windows are already mounted. Later I'll protect them using masks. Now we are reapy to connect two parts of our fuselage together. Next day I've mounted cockpit clear detail, and began work with engines. Cockpit detail рas not been established very neat, so I was forced to use some putty, then apply sanding paper (from 600 to 2500 grain size) And what about engines - in many Reviews Revell was blamed that engines division is very complicated, illogical and heavy-to paint. Well, I must agree with that reviews. For example, I can't imagine how to airbrush this detail in two colours. So I airbrushed in steel Mr. Hobby H-18 and then painted light grey Zvezda paint #30 using usual brush. Then also I've painted with Tamiya X-11 chrome silver the shapes of blades. You can see the left and right details before and after. So... now engines are glued together, and today plan is to finish with cockpit and engines grinding, add masks and cover with decorix white primer on my plane plus paint engines main colour (I've applied primer onto all small details before assembly). I think to use MAKR "royal blue" #47 for this. Maybe it's not the certain colour of BA engines, but as i think it's somwhere close to the truth. So, hope it's would be interesting to view project. Criticism is welcome 😀 Respects, tMikha.
  2. Hey folks, i'm back haha 🙂 after finishing my easyjet 319, i'm now sharing with you a WIP of two A320s. One is a custom order from someone, the other one is for myself. The custom ordered one will be AerLingus and my own will be holiday airlines, an airline most of you probably haven't heard of. Basically my friend @Berko suggested to do something from turkey, which initially wasn't my preference, but then i remembered that i flew to turkey in '94 and in a split second the choice was made. Since i have a weird tendency to build rare birds or things that are neither popular nor beautiful, this color scheme might not wake up everyones interest. People who know me, are aware of whats coming. Lots of scratch builds, details, corrections and ways of doing things a bit different maybe, which doesnt mean it is right or good, but my aim is always to improve my model skills and to share stuff here, so you can supply me with tips or ideas and vice versa. Less talking, here come the first pics. First i was a bit bored and i started with the fuselage halfs. So the surface is made for painting it with a brush, very coarse and not airbrush friendly. I initally filled the main door oulines with superglue. The rear doors are rectangular - which is completely wrong. seems like the CAD designer forgot them. After filling i sanded the stuff and now the surface is nice and the door outlines are gone. this way i dont have any conflict with the door decal dimensions. next up is the flight deck. Added thrust levers and a proper anti glare shield.
  3. These builds were done during the last year and this year, when I decided to cut down my A320 family stash and get some of them done. The builds were fairly easy, although the Revell moulds start to show some serious wear. Esp. the Etihad kit looked more like a vacform kit, lots and lots of excess plastic on almost every part and also the fit left much to be desired. The older isues were nice, clean and fitted well. Building these Airbuses,I decided to use decals either from the kit itself or what I had in my extensive stash. The Etihad version was out of the box, only the engines had to be changed to the V2500,the kit provided CFM56 engines, wich Etihad does not use on their A320s. In other A320 kits,Revell offered both engines, but here they decided to take out one set and probably the apprentice cut out the wrong ones... The color for the Etihad scheme had to be mixed acording to Revell`s instructions, the rest is the usual paint from Revell,Tesors and Gunze. The windows are from AA. For the Philippines A320 I used one of the decal sets from 26decals. A few years ago,I bought a whloe collection of decal sets and kits from an old man,and he had a large number of the same decals for whatever reason. Because of that,I also built a A321 in Philippine Airlines colours . The Lufthansa A320 is a rather special version... Revell's first release of the A320 dates back to 1988,and this release contained decals for Lufthansa,Air France and British Airways. When Lufthansa ordered the A320 in 1986/87,the fleet still wore the distinctive blue cheatline and the A320 was also shown in this livery in modelform back then. When Revell released their first A320 kit,it included this scheme and the model was an A320-100 without the winglets.Lufthansa received their first A320 in 1990,this being a -200 with winglets and the then newly adopted livery. I still had the LH decals from the first release and they were still in good condition. I found the A320 looked rather good in this scheme so I decided to build it in that way as it was depicted back then. Some details were added from the 2009 boxing wich had a superb decal set with lots of details. The Condor "Berlin" Airbus is the Revell boxing of 2000 Details come from the kit decals as well as from one of the A319 sets I had in my spares. Windows are again from AA. The Airbus A319 was the British Airways issue, but these decals I already had in mind for my Eastern Express A318,so I wanted someting exotic for this one. V1 decals offer this nice set of the German wings founded Gambia Bird, and being fond of Africa,it was an easy decision to do this airline. Sadly Gambia Bird no longer exists. The A321 was one of the first releases by Revell, back then with Swissair decals. When I travelled to the Philippines in 2018,my flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Manila and from Manila to Hongkong was on one of Philippine Airlines A321s. Both were very pleasant flights and also my first ones with this type. Philippine Airlines A321s are all fitted with the new "Sharklets",so my model should have these too. I didnt want to buy them on the aftermarket,so when I went through my stash, I came across the Zvezda Boeing 737-800 kit, wich offers different winglet types. The Split Scimitar Winglets are almost the exact shape of the sharklets used by Airbus, just some light sanding was nessecary and the parts fit perfect. As mentioned, the decals are the A320 Philippine Airlines set from 26,I just had to create the registration and handpaint the logo on the sharklets Windows are again from AA. Enjoy the pics Cheers My young lady who is with me since october 2019...
  4. From the looks of things, so far at least, nobody's doing anything modern or civvie so I'll be bucking the trend! I'm going to build an A320 in VietJet colours, with a big 'Vietnam' logo on the forward fuselage (seems appropriate!), using the Zvezda kit and Lima November decals. I'll just leave this here for now - need to make more progress on my three builds in the helicopters GB before I can contemplate cluttering up the bench with a fourth build, and haven't dug the kit out of the stash yet, but here's a photo I took in Hanoi 5 years ago to show you what I have in mind: Back to masking that Swedish camouflage... 5. I present my Revell Airbus A320 in the ‘EasyJet 250th Airbus’ special livery G-EZOL. She is currently occupying stand 110 having finished her sectors for the day and has been put to bed. I had previously built a Revell A319 in the new livery after coming back to the hobby, but wasn’t happy with the overall finish, in particular the lines on the sweep back Orange section. I have added some photos to show comparison, this time I opted to leave the wings off whilst I painted the orange section to try and achieve a cleaner finish. I also have a particular soft spot for EZY having spent 4 years there as Cabin Crew based at LGW. The build was OOB except for the BraZ Sharklets and after market decals from DrawDecal. I still personally think I prefer the Zvezda A320 kit to Revells, although quite intrigued to see the new ‘Neo’ versions they should be releasing soon. I am trying to get better at filling and sanding gaps now, as I never used to when I first started the hobby, and especially with the Revell kit there is often annoying little gaps in the joins, particularly around the Wing Box area. The paints were Halfords rattle can Appliance White, Revells Orange Aqua Colour and Revell Aqua Greys 371 and a lightened version of 374 for the coroguard sections. The slight weathering was achieved using a HB Pencil and dragging rearwards with my finger. Once again thank you for taking the time to look at my post and any feedback and comments are welcome 😃. I should hopefully have my Etihad A320 ready soon, also have a A321 on my bench as well. Regards, Alistair
  6. Hi all I want to build an Air India Airbus A320-200, VT-ESI. This is one of the few A320's to have a double bogey landing gear. This is the Aircraft i intend on making. So my question is has anybody got any idea how i can modify the landing gear, i was thinking of using a set of 757 gear, any ideas? Thanks Bradley
