This is the new Revell tooling of the A321NEO. For their A320NEO and A321NEO ,Revell decided to create a complete new tooling and not only pack new engines in an old boxing. This was a good idea,because their older A320/321 kits had a few errors and became also more and more worn out. The new kit is a real treat Everything fits snuggly,the parts layout is very well done. It took me 2 afternoons to build the kit,no filling was needed,except the windows,so the painting could begin almost immediately. This was also a straight forward task. Fuselage all black,then gloss coated with future. Wings the usual greys and aluminium for the leading edges. I actually planned to have clear windows,until I found out that Air New Zealands A321NEOs have a different windows/door layout... Until then I thought Airbus only has one layout except the number of emergency exits.Well...you always learn something new... The decals are from PAS decals and are nicely printed and opaque even on such a dark surface,something I had worries about in the beginning. The windows are again from Authentic Airliners and all details come from the great Revell decal provided with the kit. A very relaxing and quick build. Cheers Alex

Here is my finished Revell Airbus A321-251NX in 1/144 scale and in British Airways colours registration G-NEOS. G-NEOS has a convertible cabin and is able to operate in full economy mode when being used on charters. The box was a simple OOB one with the decals being provided by RichW. The Revell kit is a good one and goes together really well. I am still torn between which one I prefer out of this or the Zvezda one. I think the fact the Zvezda one adds the antennae after is good as it helps with the filling and sanding of the fuselage during assembly. However, the surface details on the Revell kit are excellent. Paints used were Halfords appliance white and Fiat Capri blue for the fuselage and engine nacelles. Holts grey for the wings and stabilisers. Revell’s Aqua range for the metals and tyres. The decals are excellent once again having used them several times in the past. This is the first one I’ve used from Rich that incorporated the photo real windows on them. I love how they bring a sense of realism to the model. It felt strange applying over wing exits and the relevant wing markings on an A321 but I love the cabin flex layout designed by Airbus. Hi all, I’m hoping to build a Wizz Air A321 but I’m stumped on a colour match for the pink and purple of the new livery for it? Anyone got any tips or advice for, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you 😃

I present the Revell A321 in the current livery of Thomas Cook. I liked the old blue scheme and I wasn’t sure about the yellow/grey when it was first introduced but it has definitely grown on me. The model is OOB apart from BraZ sharklets and a couple of small fairings . White paint is Halfords, Airbus Grey is Holts HL Grey01 and medium grey on the rear fuselage is Humbrol 128. The engines are Revell Aqua 310 Lufthansa Yellow with a tiny spot of 371 Light Grey just to take the “edge” off the yellow. Aeroflex on the wings is Revell Aqua 374 and metallics are by Tamiya and Revell. Decals are by RJS supplemented with detail decals from the kit sheet and the spares box. RJS helpfully provide decals for the yellow fuselage flash and the dark grey sections on the fin, fuselage and sharklets which saves some tricky masking and spraying. You even get a choice of long or short decals for the sharklets. The decals are screen printed except for the actual “hearts” which are laser prints. RJS also thoughtfully provide separate white backings for the hearts in case the modeller prefers to paint the dark grey but I went with the decals. Despite being designed for the Zvezda kit they fitted the Revell fin and fuselage well apart from a tiny gap on the fin leading edge. There was a bit of a mismatch between the decals and the BraZ sharklets (I suspect the sharklets are a fraction narrow) and in hindsight it would definitely have been easier to paint them. However I got there in the end even if it meant using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement (!) as a decal solvent. The only downside of the decals is that the windows and doors are printed across the main titles instead of being separate as on most silkscreen decals. For a consistent appearance I had to apply all the RJS windows then overlay them with Authentic Airliners frameless windows. Inevitably the spacing was fractionally out and I ended up applying the AA windows in pairs, a fiddly job I really could have done without. Anyhow, that minor grump aside the decals are beautifully printed, robust and supported by comprehensive instructions. An excellent product which I heartily recommend; I just wish RJS’s range was bigger. Thanks for looking and as always constructive criticism is welcome. Dave G
