A captured Panzer II (Academy 1:35)***Finished***
SimonL posted a topic in Work in Progress - Armour
With the Chaffee just about done, time for the second project of the year. Something a bit different, although keeping with a theme of light tanks, I am sipping my toe in to German armour for the first time. Inspired by @Milan Mynar‘s build of the Academy Panzer II Ausf F “North Africa, a little while ago: I’m going to have a go at building the same one as captured by US troops in North Africa 1943. This was meant to be my Christmas holiday project, but it got sidetracked by the Ferret. From the look of the plastic in the box (see Milan’s build for sprue shots), it will be a fun build. If anyone knows of issues I need to look out for, let me know!- 49 replies

Picked up the academy kit a week ago and I've been working on it every day since. I wanted to finish it in 2 weeks because I'm trying to challenge myself to finish kits as fast as possible, otherwise I end up getting distracted after a while. Super nice kit, comes together very well. Here's all the progress so far... Painted them hull red, then painted the zimmerit with a tan-grey color. Did the camo and chipped the paint, although I regret using Tamiya Dark yellow and Mr. color lacquer for the pattern, as they did not want to get chipped. You can see this on the gun, the yellow paint chipped very well but the green didn't at all. I went back later to add some more with a needle, and that work good enough. That's all the decals done. Moved the spare wheels to the back and put the spare MG42 in the rack to make it more interesting. Then I decided I didn't want to hand paint the wheels so a I paper mache'd a tarp on them Today I plan on doing the side skirts, spare tracks and wheels. I'll hopefully be able to put them up tomorrow.

I'm doing the Israeli M60 A1 blazer, from academy I've got 2 lots of pe for it, one for the academy us m60 a1 and the other set for the italeri m60a1 blazer kit, I'm hoping to cherry pick from both to give this old kit a bit of a makeover,

Hi everyone I built this one OOB and used Humbrol enamel paints. No real dramas other than the decals being very thick, plus some of the decals on the rotor blades broke. I'll probably remove the decals from the blades and paint the yellow stripes on. I always wanted to built this scheme to complete my small collection of Cobra's. Thanks for looking. Greg
