Hello, My next thread will be StuG III Ausf.B. I have chosen Tamiya kit for this one and since I have few leftovers from Dragon's Panzer III family kits I've built before, I use them wherever I can. I have few Aber upgrade sets also to use and aftermarket decals, as I'm going to one of the StuG Abt. 185 vehicles. I'm not very happy with the Tamiya kit, but there are not many options when building Ausf.B. Bolts are rounded and need to be replaced, weld seams are often missing and need to be reproduced, fit is loose and need a lot of filler. But main problem with this kit is that upper hull, when removing the molded fenders, appears to be 1mm wider than lower hull. I really don't know what to do with that yet. Here is the front driver's plate compared to hull: But Aber's etched sets seems to be awesome and offers a lot of fun. Here's the assembled ammo storage cabinet. And yep, the lid is movable: Tracks are from MasterClub this time and oh are they awesome. Compared to Friuls, these need very little cleaning and go together with little resin pins. Til' next time, Kristjan
Afternoon all.......while waiting for the group build in December I found myself eyeing my Sturmgeschutz sitting there all lonely....., and decided to set up to use it as interim gap filler when fed up with ongoing projects. My Centaur awaits mud and dust treatment, along with a T34/76............and well, not into mud at present. So I ordered all the PE and barrel and they should be landing over the coming week or so....burnt through my budget until the end of the year..., ah well.... Well, here's whats on it's way Tamiya - Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G(Sd.Kfz.142/1) Frühe version - Nr. 35197 - 1:35 Aber -Sd.Kfz.142/1 Sturmgeschutz III Ausf.G (Early) Nr. 35022 Jordi Rubio - 105mm StuH 42 L/28 SD.KFZ 142/2 STURMHAUBITZE 42 AUSF G BARREL #35B43 I'll post maybe Wednesday where the build stands. I'm having to develop a build lag and build plan for this one, so that's where my time will be spent apart from part cleaning and prepping. Chat soon....
Hi all Well, this will be my first blog build on a modelling site, so I will have to learn how to upload images etc - so bare with me there. I decided to buy a kit wth a high reputation for accuracy in moulding so I went for Tamiya's Wespe Sd.Kfz.124. I've done a lot and am still doing a whole load of research on the vehicle and other modellers builds to make sure I don't make too many missteps on the way. It'll be a long build for me with other commitments but looking forward to it. Don't hesitate to comment or point out any issue's - I won't take offence... As regards after market upgrades (with budget restrictions ) I decided on: Eduard's PE 35 450 RB Models barrel - 10.5cm L/28 SdKfz 124 Wespe 10.5 cm leFH 18 (Although no instructions came with it, so might need some help there...:) Masterclub Pz.Kpfw. II, WESPE all metal tracks-MTL 35069 So, once more unto the breech. Off to start pulling together additional materials, research and get my area sorted out. Long negotiations with "her indoors".... Cheers Simon.
