Hi mates, More resin! This time it's the Blackburn Buccaneer S.Mk.1 in the only scale that matters. The new kit from Scale Resin (CMR Moulding & Casting) is beautifully detailed, even more so than the S.2B kit from CMR that I built a few years ago. These multi-media kits include pretty much everything you need - there is little, if any, need for aftermarket accessories. I chose to model the Buccaneer as one of the aircraft performing carrier deck trials aboard HMS Ark Royal in 1963. That meant an overall anti-flash white scheme, and let me tell you that white is my least favourite colour to paint. Here is my executive summary: Project: Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Blackburn Buccaneer S.Mk.1 Kits: Scale Resin (CMR) Blackburn Buccaneer S.Mk.1 (kit number A7201) Scale: 1:72 (Her Majesty's Own Scale) Decals: From the kit, representing XN934, No. 801 Squadron, Carrier Deck Trials HMS Ark Royal, March 1963 Photoetch: Included with the kit, primarily for the cockpit, ejection seat details, antennae, windscreen wiper, wing fold details, wing hinge covers, windscreen demister, canopy support, some structural members, radar details, etc. Vacuform: Only one canopy included with the kit, unlike previous CMR kits. The canopy is supplied as one piece, and must be cut into two sections to be displayed open - luckily I managed to do this without ruining the vacuform! Paint: Testors 2143 RLM21 Semi-gloss White, 1180 Flat Steel; Gunze H335 Medium Sea Grey (standing in for Dark Admiralty Grey who was on assignment), H417 RLM76 (in place of Light Admiralty Grey due to illness), H38 Steel Red, H11 Flat White, H12 Flat Black, H77 Tyre Black, H25 Sky Blue, H318 Radome Tan, H309 FS34079, H95 Smoke Grey, H90 Clear Red, H94 Clear Green, H344 Rust; Alclad ALC302 Grey Primer, 103 Dark Aluminum, 115 Stainless Steel, 314 Klear Kote Flat Weathering: I applied a light grey wash to the panel lines, and post shading with Gunze H95 Smoke Grey and Testors 2143 RLM21 White. Improvements/Corrections This was built pretty much out of the box, the only extra things I did were: Modified the ejection seats for lateral offset between front and rear seats Jury struts Removed strengthening plates from air brake petals Build thread: Link Pictures! And a few with the CMR Buccaneer S.2B: Cheers, Bill
