  1. Recently finished. Ended up with a few blemishes on it, so not quite as happy as I'd hoped, but pleased overall 🙂 Planning on making a Max soon, and currently working on refurbing an already made A321 (custom livery and upgrading to Neo) Chris Other recent builds SAS A320neo https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235106308-sas-scandinavian-a320neo-zvezda-1144/ TAP A321neo: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235104313-revell-a321neo-tap-air-portugal-1144-ready-for-inspection/ BA Cityflyer Embraer 190: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235106306-ba-cityflyer-embraer-195-revell-1144/#comment-4328680
  2. Hello Comrades! 😀 So let me show you the result of my last finished work in regular scale for me. Basically, I wasn't going to make another one of 737-series. That was finished with 4 ready models on the shelve. But one of them had found a new owner, and I've got some free space in 737s row. And after I've built Aeroflot aircraft, I've decided that UIA livery will be a good choice to place that models together. This was really quick built - it took only 2 weeks that is really "blitz-built" for me. (Usually I need at least 3 weeks or more). Zvezda-737NG kit is very high quality as always. And the only few words I'm going to say about the kit is that gradually the manufacturer upgrades kits. If the older 737-800 was accompanied with old-style Utair decals from the box, so fresh edition consists new-style Utair livery. Really it wasn't really important in my case, but by the way Zvezda upgraded the decal for pilots windows edges. Now they became thin and neat, despite the previous version that was too massive and non-scale looking. Paint-works in this built was as minimal as possible to create normal model. Usually when I need white and smooth surface, I apply a thin layer of Decorix from the can, and then use Mr.Hobby H-1 with airbrush. But in this case I've just covered plastics with three or four layers of Decorix primer, giving it some time for drying up between layers. And finally I've sanded the surface with sanding-paper (2500) plus a few water. The ready surface maybe is not as ideal as after Mr.Hobby paint, but really after covered with some Future, it looks similar. Blue tail was airbrushed with Master-Acrylic #36 (blue). Wing and stabs edges are covered with Tamiya X-11 chrome silver. Hot parts of engines are airbrushed with a mix of MAKR-aluminium plus some yellow and green Master-Acrylics. Tyres are Mr. Hobby H-77 tyre-black. Chassies I've painted with thin usual brush with Jim-scale light-gray. Decals I've purchased from Ascensio. I've used this production earlier (Norwegian 737MAX for example). So it's reach, good-quality decals. The only one thing is too thick white background for blue-area elements. In fact, the decal-sheet was enough to get ready model. But I've used some out-of-box elements as well. The technical stencils look more natural in Zvezda's decals, and also I've applied decal windows edges for passenger windows and for cockpit as well. I wasn't going invent a bicycle one more time, so the lacquer is Pledge Fuutre (two layers) under decals. After decals were applied and dried up, there is one more layer of Future, and a thin layer of satin lacquer (Future + 5% X-21 Flat base) as final coverage and to reduce surplus shine on the photos. As the model was finished, I've noticed some disadvantages as always. But generally I like the result. Hope you will like it too 🙂 The comments and criticism are welcome as usual. Respects, tMikha.
  3. Hello everyone! Today I'm glad to introduce once more of my models, and to finish the "parade" of 737-family. The last one is most popular today type 737-800. Zvezda kit is neat, easy to build and needs only few putty, especially compared to previous EE 737-100. I've thought about livery choose for last one 737 for a long time. First I really wanted to build it in NOK-air bird livery, but later decided that it's too complicated for my skill till that days. Another one idea was Aeroflot classic old livery, but I am not a fan of "whatif" liveries. Finally I stopped choosing and purchased another one high quality and easy-to buy in RF livery from PAS. OK, it's another one standard and not eye-catching design. But first, I was a passenger on Nordwind couple of times (though flights were operated on 321) and the second and main reason that I've sent to trip this plane for great number of times as a handling-supervisor. Nordwind is one of Russian companies, far not the biggest but well-known inside the country. They operate park of different aircrafts (737's, A-321, 777-200 and -300). Mainly they perform domestic flights, and flights to Antalya (AYT) during high-season as well. In addition, I have warm feelings for this carrier for their easy-to-communicate and not arrogant flight attendants. Serving their flights, you will never be denied a cup of hot coffee in the cold season, a bottle of Cola in the hot, or some food if you feel hungry. So, enough lyrics, let's talk about painting 😁 First I've used ZIP-maket primer (that time I usually used it, but later replaced it with Decorix from a can). Grey colour of fuselage was mixed by eye from mr. Hobby #1 + Tamiya XF-24 Dark grey. Wings are painted by eye as well, the difference is in quantity of grey paint. Then I've chosen correct colour for engines, but finally stopped on Mr. Hobby H-18 steel. As I think, it's not far from real colour. Wheels, undercarriage and gear-flaps painted with zvexzda #30 light gray. Tyres covered with XF-85 Tamiya Rubber black. Wing-edges ant other heated areas painted with X-11 Chrome silver. Pledge future before and prior decals, as usual. And final layuer is mixed Future with 5% of X-21 Flat base. Decals from PAS are wery high-quality as usual. Technical inscriptions and others - from the included decal-sheet. (Basically it's Utair livery out-of box) Also I've added beacon on the top of fuselage (on the bottom there are a hole for the rack), and red and green lights on the wing-tips. Though highest quality, the decal has few minor disadvantages. For example, instead of "www.nordwindairlines.ru" on real plane, this inscription without WWW on decal-sheet. And what was pointed later by colleagues, I've applied some inscriptions not enough straight, and destroyed little red N logos on the engines. It's all on the side of my crooked hands 🙄 Model was finished in last days of 2021. The last two fotos is for compare with prototype of the model. Respects, tMikha.
  4. Hello all, Been some time since my last 727 model, but having passed my coach driving test I've been rather busy! But having been recently furloughed I've had some time to finish my Zvezda 737-800 I started some time ago, complete with 26 Decals Caribbean Airlines decals for 9Y-TAB. One of my favourite builds, and my first Zvezda build though a bit more fiddly than I thought, some over engineered bit's (the TINY bit needed to go on the wingtip for example could have been part of the mould, I ended up loosing that part so had to use a plasticard replacement) For the flying option I went for to use the stand, putting the main wheels in the body wasn't easy, nor was putting the front doors for the front wheel easy either, and the idea of having just two very tiny holes to hold the horizontal stabilizers isn't great, especially when a decal goes over it as well, so having to be careful with glue with not much of a fitting. So a fiddly kit but really does pay off in the end, happy with this and looking forward to my Minicraft build next, thanks for looking! James.
  5. I present my Zvezda ‘Thomson’ B737-800 G-FDZA in her livery prior to the TUI respray and in a Cold/Dark state on Stand 110 ready to take Skiers away later to GNB. The build was done OOB, with after market decals from Greg at DrawDecal. The kit itself is great, and I find it goes together really well without the need for a lot of filling. I quite like this scheme and have had the decals for over a year, but always been to scared to make it for fear of getting it wrong. I opted for the scimitar winglets, I wish I had added them later though, as I often kept breaking off the lower section during decaling 😩, lesson learnt though. This was also my very first attempt at weathering, and taking some advice from fellow modellers, opted for a little is best approach as generally Airliners don’t tend to get too dirty... I used a HB pencil and simply dragged back using my finger to create the grim effect marks that often appear on the wings and the moving parts thereof. I quite like the effect, but please feel free to help me with any other tips 😃. The masking was was a task in itself, and I hope I have done it some justice. The fuselage blue was my own mix of Revells Aqua colours 50 and 04. The dark blue is Revell 54 and the light blue on the tail and winglets is Humbrol 47. Fuselage is Halfords appliance white, and the wings and stabilisers are Halfords Racking grey with silver leading edges. The kit was brush painted as I still can’t get the hang of airbrushing (one day 😂). I had to paint the landing lights (no decal provided) and pitot tubes by hand as well, so please don’t look too closely 😬. Please also don’t judge my homemade baseplate 😬, it’s not great I know but I think it will help with the overall presentation... Thank you for looking and as always any feedback and comments are welcome 😃, Regards, Alistair
  6. My completed Jet2 Boeing 737-800 in 1/144 Scale using the Zvezda Kit. I really like the Zvezda kits, they go together really well and the detail is excellent, the most intricate part is probably the Nose gear assembly. Fuselage was sprayed using Tamiya Silver Mica rattle can, engines, tail and winglets Revell Red. Wings and stabs Revell 371 with Revell 90 leading edges. After market decals from DrawDecal completed this Airliner perfectly. Thank you for looking and any feedback is greatly appreciated. Alistair
  7. I'm going to build the Zvezda 737-800 as HS-TYS of the Royal Thai Air Force, using Siam Scale decals. Box shot: I made a start this evening. In not much more than an hour I've got the fuselage and wings assembled. The fit is superb, I don't think this is going to need much filler! The perfect kit to build in parallel with the Amodel Mil Mi-10 I'm building in the BM 10th anniversary GB. Here it is with the wings dry-fitted to the fuselage. If I get any modelling time tomorrow I'll take the wings off and clean up all the seams, which won't take much work. The bit that'll take longest is the clear cockpit roof, which stands slightly proud of the fuselage so will need to be blended in, but doesn't look like it'll take long. Thanks for looking Z
  8. Wonder if anyone has any good knowledge of decals that can help.... I want to build a few Ryanair 737-800's and have the kits already - the catch is these are just plain kits with no livery included. Does anyone know of any sources that sell decals (with "choose your own registration") for up to 3 Ryanair Aircraft?
  9. Friends, After hitting a rough patch with my 777 I wanted to hammer out a quick build to get some mojo back and try out a few new ideas related to paint and finishing. I have a dozen or so 1/200 Hasegawa kits ready for paint, so I grabbed this 737-800 and a set of appropriate decals. The paint job wasn't much of a challenge, I admit, but I've been wanting to practice polishing my clear coat to get a really deep, smooth gloss finish so it was preferable to keep it simple. Also, I had never used Rib Hobby decals before, but I was very impressed with how well they went on the model... Anyway, I just applied a coat of Future to seal the model, and I will attempt to polish the finish once the clear cures. So, for now, I'm not ready to call it finished... Thanks for taking a look!
  10. I built this on and off for about a year, with extensive pauses because of unforeseen circumstances and health issues. Eventually got it done though, and then found out about a local modeling exhibition and entered it. You can see the build thread here, although most of the decaling process is not very well covered. I managed to put the left side windows onto the right and vice versa, which led to some pretty extreme moving around and cutting out of windows to save the build. A few of decals, especially parts of the thin red cheatline, refused to stay put, which warranted the use of diluted PVA glue to keep them in place. Metallic leading edge decals on the tail and horizontal stabilizers went on fine, but the first one I tried to apply to the wing (there are two massive one and two small ones per wing, I tried one of the big ones) crumpled up and partially disintegrated almost immediately. I ended up masking off and drybrushing all of the leading edges on the wings and winglets. The winglets, by the way, were left uncorrected, as I didn't want to overcomplicate my first (proper) build. Here are the photos: The modeling exhibition I mentioned earlier - Mini MAKS 2016 (MAKS being the bi-annual airshow which happens just outside Moscow) - ended two days ago, and it turns out that my 737 got 3rd place in the under-18s category. I was quite happy about that, especially considering that the prize was two new airliner models. Having never applied so many decals on such a large plane (my actual first model was a Zvezda 1:200 Ju-52 with, like, five decals), I had no idea how to make them set properly. This led to quite a lot of decal silvering. I have no idea how to prevent this in the future, so...any advice?
  11. Hello folks, anyone planning decals for the new Qantas retro scheme? Looks great. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Qantas/Boeing-737-838/2733726/L/ Looking at you Ray... (please) Cheers, Andrew
  12. Hello everyone, This is my first building report on this forum. I am building the standard Revell Boeing 737-800, but with the quite extraordinary 'Flying 101' paint scheme from Kulula, a South African airline. I will fill and remove the panel lines on the fuselage as an experiment to see if that looks good, and maybe I will draw some of them back on with a pencil after painting. I'll leave the lines on the wings as they are, though. The winglets in Revell's kit are horrible, but I have not used aftermarket replacements. I simply made them a bit slimmer and didn't heighten them. I am also aware that the cabin windows are molded too low on the fuselage, but I like to leave the windows open instead of filling them so I'll just have to accept that. Now for my work so far: With a few layers of primer... I think I'll do it again with grey primer to get an even colour, and then with white again. I put some pieces of stretched sprue in the back of the engine to make it a bit less empty and monotone. And I also filed the fins on the sides of the engine to make them thinner
  13. Latest one from me and my first attempt at both 1/144 scale and civil aircraft. A nice little kit this, that was picked up at a bargain price in the clearance section at Hobbycraft. Hardly any fitment issues, and some very good moulded detail. I even used clearfix for the forty or so windows on each side! (not sure I'd do that again ). Decals are excellent, but there are just so many! Around 120 and I didn't even use them all! Comments welcome.
