  1. Hello all, Been some time since my last 727 model, but having passed my coach driving test I've been rather busy! But having been recently furloughed I've had some time to finish my Zvezda 737-800 I started some time ago, complete with 26 Decals Caribbean Airlines decals for 9Y-TAB. One of my favourite builds, and my first Zvezda build though a bit more fiddly than I thought, some over engineered bit's (the TINY bit needed to go on the wingtip for example could have been part of the mould, I ended up loosing that part so had to use a plasticard replacement)
  2. I present my Zvezda ‘Thomson’ B737-800 G-FDZA in her livery prior to the TUI respray and in a Cold/Dark state on Stand 110 ready to take Skiers away later to GNB. The build was done OOB, with after market decals from Greg at DrawDecal. The kit itself is great, and I find it goes together really well without the need for a lot of filling. I quite like this scheme and have had the decals for over a year, but always been to scared to make it for fear of getting it wrong. I opted for the scimitar winglets, I wish I had added them later though, as I often kept breaking off the lower s
  3. My completed Jet2 Boeing 737-800 in 1/144 Scale using the Zvezda Kit. I really like the Zvezda kits, they go together really well and the detail is excellent, the most intricate part is probably the Nose gear assembly. Fuselage was sprayed using Tamiya Silver Mica rattle can, engines, tail and winglets Revell Red. Wings and stabs Revell 371 with Revell 90 leading edges. After market decals from DrawDecal completed this Airliner perfectly. Thank you for looking and any feedback is greatly appreciated. Alistair
  4. I'm going to build the Zvezda 737-800 as HS-TYS of the Royal Thai Air Force, using Siam Scale decals. Box shot: I made a start this evening. In not much more than an hour I've got the fuselage and wings assembled. The fit is superb, I don't think this is going to need much filler! The perfect kit to build in parallel with the Amodel Mil Mi-10 I'm building in the BM 10th anniversary GB. Here it is with the wings dry-fitted to the fuselage. If I get any modelling time tomorrow I'll take the wings off and clean up all the seams, which won't take much work. The
  5. Wonder if anyone has any good knowledge of decals that can help.... I want to build a few Ryanair 737-800's and have the kits already - the catch is these are just plain kits with no livery included. Does anyone know of any sources that sell decals (with "choose your own registration") for up to 3 Ryanair Aircraft?
  6. Friends, After hitting a rough patch with my 777 I wanted to hammer out a quick build to get some mojo back and try out a few new ideas related to paint and finishing. I have a dozen or so 1/200 Hasegawa kits ready for paint, so I grabbed this 737-800 and a set of appropriate decals. The paint job wasn't much of a challenge, I admit, but I've been wanting to practice polishing my clear coat to get a really deep, smooth gloss finish so it was preferable to keep it simple. Also, I had never used Rib Hobby decals before, but I was very impressed with how well they went on the model...
  7. I built this on and off for about a year, with extensive pauses because of unforeseen circumstances and health issues. Eventually got it done though, and then found out about a local modeling exhibition and entered it. You can see the build thread here, although most of the decaling process is not very well covered. I managed to put the left side windows onto the right and vice versa, which led to some pretty extreme moving around and cutting out of windows to save the build. A few of decals, especially parts of the thin red cheatline, refused to stay put, which warranted the use of diluted PV
  8. Hello folks, anyone planning decals for the new Qantas retro scheme? Looks great. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Qantas/Boeing-737-838/2733726/L/ Looking at you Ray... (please) Cheers, Andrew
  9. Hello everyone, This is my first building report on this forum. I am building the standard Revell Boeing 737-800, but with the quite extraordinary 'Flying 101' paint scheme from Kulula, a South African airline. I will fill and remove the panel lines on the fuselage as an experiment to see if that looks good, and maybe I will draw some of them back on with a pencil after painting. I'll leave the lines on the wings as they are, though. The winglets in Revell's kit are horrible, but I have not used aftermarket replacements. I simply made them a bit slimmer and didn't heighten them. I am als
  10. Latest one from me and my first attempt at both 1/144 scale and civil aircraft. A nice little kit this, that was picked up at a bargain price in the clearance section at Hobbycraft. Hardly any fitment issues, and some very good moulded detail. I even used clearfix for the forty or so windows on each side! (not sure I'd do that again ). Decals are excellent, but there are just so many! Around 120 and I didn't even use them all! Comments welcome.
