  1. Hello everyone... This was built at the same time as my Legato Mk.18e spitfire. I used the older Heller Mk.V kit as a base. With @Rabbit Leader‘s help who kindly sent me some very accurate drawings. Was able to scratch-build the wing Oil coolers, and desert filter underneath. I actually had both this and the academy Mk.V to choose from, however the detail was crisper on the older Heller kit. I asked for some information about the Mk.VI’s here in this thread. ⬇️ When i first joined here i came across a discussion about Mk.VI’s and the post war desert scheme of DE/Light Slate Grey over medium sea grey. I instantly fell in love with the scheme and knew id build a Mk.VI someday. Fast forward 18 months and a donation of the Heller kit from @Procopius along with the Legato Mk.18e. and here we are. The build was started in September of 2018 and stalled due to a lack of Light slate grey. Procopius saved me again when we were discussing my issue at a swap meet in November. In late December i was asking questions about post war Roundels as i had none. Mike @72modeler was kind enough to send me the decals for both this and the Spitfire. In January i restarted the build. I finished it alongside the Mk.18 earlier this week, and photographed it today. Without further ado i present my 6 Squadron Mk.VI Tempest Palestine 1948-49. I made sure after the mistake on the Spitfire, to get the underwing serials correct on this. A last photo with her build sibling. Heres a link to the Spitfire RFI if you're interested. Questions, comments, or jokes if you prefer ? Dennis
  2. Hello all im looking for some info on RAF Units in the Middle east after the war. Im planning on doing a Tempest Mk.VI, and a Spitfire Mk.XVIII in the post war desert camouflage of Dk. Earth/Light Slate grey. The Tempest unit 213 Squadron will be from I believe Palestine. The Spitfire unit is i think 208 Squadron ? Flying out of Egypt in 1949 ? My main questions are Roundels and desert filters ? If anyone can include any other info on said units. That will be very greatly appreciated. Dennis
  3. Does anybody know what the source of the markings for NX154 JV-K in the old Matchbox Tempest Mk.II/VI kit is? I've had a trawl through the internet and through Britmodeller but have not found anything. Were the markings based on a contemporary photo or something else? If they were based on a photo, can anyone point me to where I can find it please? I built the kit in the markings provided as a kid, but am now curious as to their origin, especially since I have a spare set and am tinkering with the idea of a modern build of this aircraft. Any help or info would be much appreciated, Mark.
  4. Gents, Got a pass out of work so my lovely Fiancee, and my mate Simon went over to Wales as it looked like a nice day over there. We drove through some of the worst rain we had seen in a while (so I was told, I was alsepp in the back of the car from Birmingham to Welshpool!); once we got to Wales, the rain stopped and we were greeted with some decent weather all day. Not the best of shots, but we got some decent traffic through We did have a C-130J through but I have not had time to do those shots yet! So all in all an 18 hour day, 400 mile round trip and 10 passes by some of the RAF's finest - a good day in my eyes - it is just a shame the 7 - 9 F-15E's did not come down to play. I have one more days leave to take before the end of the year so I should be back again soon!
