In case those of you in the UK haven't heard yet, I have started an online shop based in the UK for small scale ship modellers. Currently in stock are resin kits and accessories from Combrig, Samek, AJM, Orange Hobby, L'Arsenal, Niko and North Star, with etch from Lion Roar, Flyhawk and my own brand Starling Models. Other accessories in stock include 3d Modelparts, Master Barrel and Uschi van der Rosten's excellent rigging thread. Also in stock are kits from Flyhawk, I will be importing all of their new releases this year, all at very competitive prices. In time I hope to release some kits, some of these will be those formerly released under the Fine Waterline label with some upgrades. It is still very early days so in time I will hopefully be adding to the list of brands in stock but for those of you in the UK who are finding it difficult to get those much needed kits and accessories, stop by and have a look. http://www.starling-models.co.uk Mike
In stock in the shop today, lots of new kits and accessories from L'Arsenal including HMS Fearless, HMS Sheffield, HMS Glory and loads of vehicles in 1/700 and 1/350. A wide range of accessories in both scales with more new items to be added shortly. http://www.starlijng-models.co.uk Mike
So with the UK's marvellous new carriers on the way, we all know that it's not a question of if but when as far as the models of them are concerned- and in particular who. Airfix have already got the Invincible Class, T45 and Trafalgar in their RN range and have alluded towards making a QE model. They would not doubt benefit from the patronage that being a British firm would provide in that context. Anyway, I've heard that 2016 will be the year- perhaps to coincide with the arrival of HMS Queen Elizabeth in Portsmouth. It's just a rumour, but y gut certainly says that it's accurate- although then again that may be thanks to what I had for lunch! Meanwhile on the other hand Trumpeter could perhaps not be too far behind and I wonder which one modellers would prefer given the choice...? Do whack down what you think or even better have heard.
