  1. Hello peeps. Well, uk is in lockdown and I am working from home. In between work I will get some bench time. So time to have a play with an experimental aircraft. I bought the PM ho 229 from Tornado models in Birmingham and I set about engraving the panel lines and was all set to start until I managed to break the canopy.....The canopy was broken beyond repair and I couldn’t find a replacement and asked the good folks here for help getting a replacement. Then the very generous and superb gent @dogsbody kindly offered me the pioneer kit all the way from Canada. Blown away by his generosity that kit has now arrived and I will be building the pm kit and pioneer kit side by side. It will be a slow build but thanks to mr dogsbody (who I owe a pint to when all this blows over) I have crash moulded a new canopy. Here is the wonderful box art of the pioneer 229. It will be an adventure! At least the pioneer parts seem to fit. The pm one..........stay safe and enjoy the ride as I build both of these side by side.
  2. This popped up while looking for N-3PB photos- go figure! Very interesting footage of FAA Corsair carrier and ground landing techniques- pretty cheesy narrative, but great action and postwar colors and markings. Also some neat views of Hellcats, Firebrands, Fireflies, Mosquitoes, and Vampires, Wonder if 'Winkle' Brown was flying the Mosquito and Vampire trials? I would have thought that by 1946, the Lend-Lease aircraft would have been returned or scrapped. I hope you enjoy both YouTube videos- the other film has some nice WW2 Corsair footage. @tonyot- these are for you, my friend! Mike
  3. Haven't built a Bf 109 in a toooo long time. Now that @Corsairfoxfouruncle is building one Finnish post-war G-6 I couldn't help resisting anymore, I had to check the rules and sweet Col. had indeed allowed neutral countries to be eligible, for the first and probably only time in these annual NATO-WP group builds, so quick conversation with the sensible half of my brains, then deafening its protests (too many builds, too little time etc.) lead me into posting this . I do have a week before the Mosquito decals and masks arrive... So let's build the kit 2/3 of my AZmodel joypack. A post-war Finnish Mersu, but not the same MT-505 Dennis is building. That'll save my stocks of war-era decals for the soon-to-be-here 1:72 Tamiya G-6:s 🤤 I'm off to my books to search for a prototype. If I find a suitable G-2, I'll do one for a change. V-P
  4. Hi guys, starting off with something a little different. Not sure if it'll work or if it will end up looking a bit silly, but I'll never know unless I try it. Its a sort of video dairy build created in Adobe Spark. First time using this program, so I hope its turned out OK? https://spark.adobe.com/video/ysr0ydIk47IOw What do you think? Cheers Richard.
  5. Hello all, Here's my latest finished work. It's Meng's Kayaba Ku-4 parasite fighter carried by a Hasegawa Ki-49. Both kits were great builds, though the Mens decals and Hasegawa canopy fit were both less than ideal. The Kayaba Ku-4 was originally a glider prototype from 1940 that was resurrected to an experimental ramjet/rocket fighter airplane. It was to carry two 30 mm cannons with less than 100 rounds total. After making passes at B-29s, it was to glide back to an airstrip. Sort of an even more rudimentary Me-163. The Ku-4 is finished with Tamiya rattlecan, while the Ki-49 is a rattlecan base with Vallejo acrylics on top. Enjoy!
