  1. Hello there! So here we are again with a "trip report" and whats the story? in 2017 my former employer airberlin went bankrupt. Very soon it was clear that easyjet was about to aquire most of the operation out of my homebase Berlin (TXL), so that was the only company i wanted to work for in Berlin - and lucky me got a job with ezy in 2018. When i started flying again i met a lot of new people and one of the first contacts is now one of my best friends. So to cut a long story short, his first flight as a pilot on a commercial aircraft was on G-EZAM, which will be the plane built. Challange: it is his birthday present, so i have only time until mid of August. Some of you who might know me will quickly see the dilemma haha 🙂 I decided to go for the Revell A319 and started a week ago. instead of cutting a zvezda 320 or revell 320 neo, which are the better kits for sure, allthough with some weak spots as well. Never the less i will steal and copy parts of those kits. I wont be able to sort out all issues, but actually most of them. Basically i will fix all major items and only leave small inaccuracies - at least that is the goal. its all just limited to the time i have 😕 To start off i sprayed the fuselage halves in black, never did this before, i thought i could give this a try, the white plastic inside might be too bright. Now the first major thing is: i wanted clear windows all the way... since the shape of the Airbus windows is only a 100% correct on the zvezda A321, i had actually the worst window shape of all kits with my revell choice. I got a stripe of electrical tape (glue side is glossy) on the outside and filled the windows from the inside with clear resin. once i come back to the fuselage these will be masked with correctly shaped masks, made by my own. Results with the resin are perfect, i expected troubles here, but all worked fine. Got all the bubbles out with my vacuum pump.
  2. Picked up the Eduard Dual Combo kit on Saturday and just had to have a go at it straight away. Kit comes with two 144th Spitfire Mk.IXe with marking and wing options. One each of elliptical and clipped wings, so you can't build two identical spits from the kit, but wasn't an issue for me as I wanted one British and one French. There are markings for 2 British Spits and one each of Czech, Norwegian, French and Israeli. The decals are beautifully printed (there is a correction sheet for the Czech roundels included in the kit, though I had to look really closely to see why) and respond well to MicroSol. There are masks for the canopy and wheel hubs and they are superb, though I didn't use the hub masks as I built mine 'in flight'. Construction is very simple - only 19 parts in total per aircraft. It's designed to be displayed wheels down, but some simple modifications make it into an in flight aircraft. A bit disappointed that there is absolutely no interior detail, but it didn't affect this build as I've greyed out the canopy to match the other aircraft that are going to be displayed with it. This will be one of the two escorts for my Revell Concorde (that's why I want one British and one French). Paints used were as follows: Upper and lower Camo were Alclad MIL-SPEC enamel colours - Medium Sea Grey, Ocean Grey and Dark Green. All others were Lifecolor acrylics. Camo was glossed with Alclad Aqua Gloss for decalling and then Matted with MicroFlat. Thanks for looking. Kev
  3. New resin 144th Avro 707A, 707A kinked wing and 707C being released and also the Boulton Paul P111/P111A and P120 released. Also released is a 144th Meteor NF decal sheet for 13 different variants.
  4. If all goes well with the NATO Lightning my second project will be the military reconnaissance version of the civilian Concorde airfiner as used by the RAF Back story to follow once I've checked a few facts and made up the rest.
  5. Hello and welcome to my first WiP thread! After my (somewhat sarcastic) moanings over Britmodeller taking up all my modelling time, I managed to ban myself from the forums for a while and get down to building some stuff! As mentioned in my introductory thread (See here) I have a handful of 144 scale kits that I am using to get my eye in and practice some techniques before moving to my scale of preference, 1/72. Also small, inexpensive and unobtrusive models are a good starting point from the perspective of the wife - at least I think they are anyway! So, just one photo so far, I've finished a Revell Mig-25 and have a Revell F-16C and Mirage F.1C nearing completion. There are inaccuracies and omissions of certain details that I am aware of, but I'm generally treating these as practice kits. I've had immense fun in building these so far, but have been surprised by the level of fiddliness one experiences at this scale! That being said, I'm impressed by how good they can look lined up together, all tiny and 'cute'!
