  1. Here's my final planned entry for the Group Build (although it might actually be the first that I make). It was an impulse buy from eBay a few days ago. It seemed a natural shoo-in for the GB. This is a paper model of The Skylon, which was the architectural centre-piece of the 1951 Festival of Britain. The edifice was approximately 90m tall and was designed to look (from a distance), as if it was floating on air with no means of support. It was made from aluminium louvres and illuminated at night from within (but no, my model won't be ). This video will tell you more - but if you don't fancy the full 20 minutes, the title sequence alone is worth a look. There's another good bit from 13:30 to 14:30 - one of the BBC guys doesn't look too happy with his sight-seeing tour in a bucket! The paper model was originally produced by Micro Models in the 1950s, but mine is a present-day reproduction. By my reckoning, it's 1/720 scale. To quote the instructions: "The only additional materials required are a tube of Balsa Cement and some fine cotton. If your eyesight is good enough, threads drawn from an old nylon stocking are better than cotton". Should be fun! Cheers
  2. Here's my entry, the LZ Graf Zeppelin from Mark I Models by Jan H, auf Flickr A big blob, approx 33 centimetres in length in 1:720 scale but few parts and no canopy to mask, just a decal by Jan H, auf Flickr And here we go.... by Jan H, auf Flickr
  3. I finished this model some time ago but didn't get around to photographing it until today. It's Revell's Tribal Class destroyer which came with their HMS Ark Royal (I've built that too but no photos yet). I built this one with some help from the WEM etch and decided to build it as a close(ish) model of HMS Mohawk when serving in the Mediterranean in 1941. This was more an exercise in trying out some ship modelling as a change to the usual armour. Hope you like it Thanks for looking
  4. Hello all, Thanks to Bootneck's help to find a manual I could complete this model after it waited half done for over 2 months. As not much of a ship builder it probably isn't the best thing around but I am satisfied with my build. Built OOB and brush painted as all my models. As there wasn't a paint scheme for the aircrafts on board and no decals for them, I just tried to copy what I could see in the picture on the box. Also unfortunately I messed up the big number 65 decal in fromt and had to take it off. Maybe later I'll try to compensate that by masking and painting. Hope you like it. Here we go: Thanks for taking the time to look. Regards.
