Hello everyone... I present to you my 1/72 Fujimi/Testors F7U-3 Cutlass. This was built for the “In the Navy group build”. It is finished in the Markings of Attack Squadron VA-12 “Ubangi’s” Circa 1955-57. Heres a bit of info on the Ubangi’s. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/VA 12_(U.S._Navy) According to a squadron history I found the Navy deemed the Cutlass not safe so VA-12 made no cruises with them. The only clear photo in these markings is in a more clean state and seen in a stateside airshow. So that is the way I chose to display mine. I took these photo’s yesterday, someone else has pointed out that the tires have bare spots. They have been fixed now and look more like rubber. The dual Lightning bolts on the canopy are painted with homemade masks. They are a little bit off in their symmetry but i think it gives the plane character. Please feel free to ask questions, comment, and or post thoughts. My build link is here. Dennis

Hello Everyone... Im going to be building Fujimi’s kit of Vought's F7U Cutlass. A great design that supposedly had great flying characteristics, only let down by underpowered jet engines. Sadly a common them of early US Navy jets. The F3 Demon also comes to mind. The box art is for VF-124 and is one of my fallback options as far as markings. This in the Standard Gull grey/white scheme Im going to attempt to do this in the Markings of VA-12 “The Flying Ubangi’s” this however is aluminum lacquer/NMF. I have a 3rd option as well, VF/VA-83. The 1st photo is of the early scheme Blue edged with white on an Aluminum base. https://www.flickr.com/photos/23032926@N05/10503425794 This is the later scheme Yellow edged with black on an aluminum base. https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:F7U-3M_of_VA-83_on_USS_Intrepid_(CVA-11)_in_1956.jpg I will be adding photo’s of the pieces and sprues later. I bought the kit 2nd hand and most pieces are off of the sprues. They all seem to be here though so thats always a plus. Questions, comments, and or thoughts ? Dennis
