  1. Welcome to History Time. 48 years ago the Rockwell rolled out it's new Strategic Bomber, The B-1A. You know the "replacement" for the B-52? with it's first flight from Palmdale's Plant 42 on Dec 23, 1974 So I think it's fitting that I attempt to get one more BIG build in before the end of the year and finish in time for the historic first flight. Originally I was going to restore another Bone I had but while stripping the paint off the plastic literally crumbled in my hands. which is strange since the chemical was "supposed" to be used on plastic models. This current model was eventually going to b the "B" model with flaps and slats . But with lack of ceiling space that build will have to wait. Tis will go on the shelf all by it's lonesome. What I am going to attempt with this is to correct the intakes, make a new nose and stern parts, correct the rotary launchers Change the cockpit from ejection seats to an ejection capsule and whatever else I can come up with. Oh and keep my sanity all the while. Some parts will have to be printed and some scratch built. I did recover the SAC metal landing gear. I learned the hard way they are necessary with this bird because of weight. All comments , suggestions and cat calls are always welcome So let's see what kind of Frankenstein I can come up with.
  2. Here is my entry in the GB Well, not really, but I am using the box having ditched the Revell end opening flimsy. Kept the box art. Let's say we have started to upgrade the kit already. A few things added such as an Aries cockpit and Master pitot tube. The Revell kit decal sheet looks very nice. Hopefully they're still OK. The weasel mouth schemes are very popular with modellers. I wanted something a little different, if possible without the mouth. A subject preferably weathered/faded with some photo evidence if I could be so lucky. Vietnam era early non-wrap around scheme. 'SAM FIGHTER' ticks all the boxes. 1. I have the decals 2. It has no mouth 3. Weathered/faded 4. A good colour photo. 5. Earlier non-wrap around scheme And to add that nice additional touch it's an "F". Now we are excited. I purchased the AK Real Colors USAF TAC SEA set: It will be a re-scribe job even though the raised panel lines are very fine. Thankfully we have till end of September to complete this and get it into the gallery. With work and travel commitments this build is definitely "pushing the envelope". Ray
  3. Since I've done the older brother, I guess I should do the Dagger's replacement. So Into the breach I go. Nothing fancy tis time, just a simple OOB,(heard that one before) I think I'll be doing it in the livery of the 456th FIS based at Castle AFB, California circa 1962 It's the Operations Officer's ride so it will be nice and bright (translation: a little gaudy) So let's see what type of mischievous devilment I can get into shall we? As Samuel L. Jackson would say, "Hold on to your Butts"
  4. G'day people, This now brings the number of GBs I am involved in now to three, I need my head examined! I have had this kit in the stash for a while so this seems like the best time to get serious about it I had previously made a start on this kit, the kit seats have been assembled but the rest of the cockpit and forward fuselage is unassembled and the majority of the larger parts have been removed from their sprues to check fit and experiment with the assembly sequence for the fuselage as there seem to be quite a few variations from the Revell instructions that I have seen in several on-line builds to achieve a better fit. Removing the parts from the sprues also means I can make room in the (crappy) box for some aftermarket goodies I think I am well under the 25% rule but will withdraw if the mods disagree, cheers, Pappy
  5. Hello everybody im going to stick my toe in the MTO with a night harassment Stuka. Im going to build a JU-87D from Nachtschlachtgruppe 9 in Italy in the fall of 1944. I will use the old Revellogram Ju-87G kit wit some appropriate mod’s. I also plan on kitbashing a bit to busy up the really poor cockpit. Since these didnt operate the 37 MM anti-tank guns of the G i have to scratchbuild the dive-brakes and outer wing bomb racks. So i may be biting off more than i can handle but am going to try to do all of this. I will post photos of the kit and parts when i get to my office later today. Dennis
