  1. This was a real slog but worth it in the end. Full build thread is in the 2019 Lockheed Groupbuild. Please go and give the whole GB some love, it's only gathered 10 votes in total for the excellent selection of builds in the gallery. The Kitty Hawk kit has a well-earned poor reputation but if you absolutely, positively must have a 1/48 F-35B on your shelf it's the only option. If you grit your teeth and stick it out, the result is worth it. By all means check out my build thread for top tips on how to conquer the worst examples of the kit's bizarre tooling and odd build progression(!): Well, here's the result dressed up in a prospective display scheme for the RN's return to fixed wing carrier aviation (yay!): It's posed in the hover, so I had to do a bit of extra work to pose it properly: lengthened the gear oleos posed the pilot appropriately dropped the flaps repositioned the stabilizers and rebuilt the mountings built a ropey but functional stand for display! The display decals are from Model Alliance's 1/48 RN Display Teams sheet. Very nice quality and a lot of options for plenty of aircraft. I used the decals from 809's Buccaneer display aircraft and added the lightning flash (Lightning! Yeah?) from the Scimitar. It's not a proper airshow display unless you open everything up - the weapons bays are the excellent aftermarket parts by KASL Hobby of Korea. I also used Eduard's exterior etch set. I also did a lot of scratch detailing in the wheelbays and other open panels, and the tailpipe: I lifted the idea for the paintwork from @SaminCam who did a beautiful job of the RAM surface by painting over a polished aluminium undercoat. I used Colourcoats FS36170 Camouflage Gray over Alclad Polished Alu and it really nailed the look, even changing under different lighting just like the real aircraft. The contrasting RAM tape is painted in MRP Camouflage Gray using DN Models masks which are a must for this kit. Well, that's her finished - please take a look at the other builds in the GB, I think it's one of the better groupbuilds I've seen, with a lot of finished builds and some excellent variety. All the best, Alan
  2. Hello Dears, It's me again… Putting a bit of pressure on my friend @Christer A 2 finished in 2 days…. Well almost !! Arctic cock yes but bathed in the sun of Nevada for instance !! I Always loved Arctic markings !! And I will have a NORAD serie, here's the first attendant !! Lockheed F-94C Starfire #13548 from the 29th Fighter interception Squadron based at Malmstrom ( Great falls) To say that the kit is a pig is an understatement !! When I first opened the box, I say Oooooh Shiny !! then at the second look, I've been a bit less enthusiast !! Painted here with Tamiya red and alclad ! Flory and oïl paint for the light weathering first thing to complain about is the orange skin plastic !! prepare yourself for A LOT OF sanding and micromeshing !! Then the adjustments are at least a complete nightmare !! The instruction booklet lead you into some mistakes… 🤬
