  1. I suspect this'll not be the only thread to represent this famous squadron, nor this infamous pilot, however the exploits of these 'European' airman during the BoB is fairly new to my reading material, so I'll do my best to honour them here. Within my ever growing stash is the very nice Airfix 1/48 Battle of Britain 'Ready for Battle' gift set, which includes the excellent 1/48 Hawker Hurricane. Also included are many other great airfield additions (and if time permits) I may consider building some of these as well. Should the local postman also be working, I've ordered a set of DK Decals
  2. So I guess I'm cutting it a bit fine with the timing on this one, but what the heck. Either way I've got mostly everything I need to get going on this build now, aside from the PE parts that I'm on the fence over. In this case I'm going to be working on P2831 LE-K, as flown by Sub/Lt. Richard John 'Dickie' Cork RN DSO DSC during August 1940. As you can probably guess from the title I did originally consider LE-T complete with the actual flag signal decals but the fact that no-one seems to know what aircraft that even was kind of put me off it.

  4. House of Commons 4 June 1940. Prime Minister Winston Churchill gives his speech "Wars are not won by evacuations" Dunkirk is still fresh in the nations memory. The RAF has been given a slatting by the stranded soldiers on the beach. Churchill knows that to fight the Battle of Britain he needs the RAF. He needs the public to believe in the RAF. In this speech he says "We must be careful not to assign to this deliverance the attributes of a victory. Wars are not won by evacuations.
