  1. Hi folks, Our first shipment from Artwox arrived today containing a nice selection of 1/700, 1/350 and 1/200 subjects - most of which are not available from our other stocked brands. We will be adding these to our webstore over the next day or two and, of course, we'll have them at Telford
  2. The latest from the innovative South Korean company Infini Model has arrived in the UK. The sets include the thinnest wooden decks ever made, at 0.1mm thick using materials and techniques developed by Infini Model for small scale ship models. Also included is a set of turned brass masts to replace what are usually overly thick and chunky looking injection moulded items in 1/700 scale. They come with a small sheet of photo etched brass containing the essentials for using the headline parts, which includes replacement breakwaters and so on. A nice touch is the inclusion of extremely fine anchor chain to replace the grossly over-scale moulded on representations found on most kit parts. As per usual with Infini Model, a nice set of full colour illustrated instructions has come to be expected and they do not disappoint. Get 'em while they're hot: https://www.sovereignhobbies.co.uk/collections/1-700
  3. Another big box of goodies just arrived from Pontos Model in South Korea. New products will be listed over the next day or two. ☺
  4. Hi, my upcoming built will be the 1907 Dreadnought by Trumpeter. I have the two Eduard sets (railings and general detail), Artworx wooden deck and the Kagero 3D book (which I like very much) for it. As I am rather unfamiliar with ships here are a few questions: The wooden deck looks very nice but I have never used one before and would appreciate any tips or hints about it's use. For example - will the glue hold it down to the plastik deck permanently or should I support it with some superglue? May be I should have bought the Pontos detail set but it's too late now (too expensive now that I have all the above items). So I am wondering how to do the stowed torpedo netting and looking at the detail 3D drawings in the book I found out the rigging is much more complex than I thought. For example there are these 'spreaders' (I do not know the correct maritime term), that are star-shaped and keep eight (!) aerials or what they are apart - there are no PE parts for those and I have no idea how to make these tiny things. For the rigging I intend to use EZ Line and do as much of the rigging as possible. Is EZ the right choice? Should I try to do as much rigging as possible or might that turn out to look a bit overcrowded in this scale? In general, any experience, ideas and so on regarding the above or the kit itself is very welcome. Ingo
  5. There's life in theses old kits yet,I built 2 Belfast as a kid and was one of my favorite ships, much I like 1/700 ,when I do a 1/600 its just right ,anyway, this is Belfast from May 1945,she had a refit for the far east, she went back to over all grey with the blue strip along the hull, but the war was finished by the time she arrived. Then she went to spent most of her working life out there.had large refit between 56-59,mostly the bridge was rebuilt for N.B.C.with lattice mast and up grade on the smaller armament.Back to the model,as usual, the hull has been waterlined.having done one ship already, this was easy this time, had enough plans and pictures to make the changes to Belfast, most of it is where the walrus use to be.the crane was repositioned, the ships boats and added decks for anti aircraft armament and extra accommodation.I thought it was going to an easy conversion, but as we get deeper, keep discovery thats change and thats moved. In too deep now and all the main items are finished. I started this about 3 weeks ago.The P.E. is by White Ensign models and deck by Artwox Hull getting for the saw lots of dry fitting Yes I replaced every single port hole, mad comes to mind more dry fitting, getting the new boat deck right Made up the plastic kit crane to make sure every fits right, only one crane required, which will be P.E
