Hi Folks, After using Mr. Weathering Liquids for a while (for weathering as well as for Panel Lining of Surface Deatils) i wanted to try something new on my current ED-209 Build and use Tamiyas Panel Liners as i have heard so many positive comments on its exelent flow behaviour. After the first attemt on a not so visible area on the feet i can confirm, that it really flows very well. But when removing the excess paint with Tamiya Laquer Thinner i had to realize that this heavily attacks the acrylic base colour😟 Originally i was under the assumption that Laquer Paints are not affected by Acrylic Thinners and Acrylic Paints are not affected by Laquer Thinners but it seems here i was wrong.... Question to the Community: Who has experience with Tamiyas Panel Liners? What solvent can you recoment for cleaning up? Preferrably something that has no effect on the base paint. Any other Tips and Tricks on Tamiyas Panel Liners is highly appreciated!

Hello everyone, I have a large bottle of tamiya x-20a. I am going to paint a 1/24 car in a lacquer paint. Do I need lacquer thinner or will the x-20a work? Also, what sort of ratio would you suggest?

I usually use Vallejo model air so im Not to experienced with thinners for airbrush I have thinned tamiya x-10 with Vallejo colours before and had good results but does anyone now if it works on their other paints?

I'm almost out of Colourcoats thinner, and given Sovereign Hobbies are warning about delayed delivery, I'm wondering what the best alternative is. I was going to give Mr Color Levelling Thinner a try until I read Jamie's recent disaster! So what do you think? plain old white spirit or something Naptha based (like Zippo lighter fluid), Thanks for any advice Colin

AV Vallejo has been very secretive about its thinner composition. The paint is a polyurethane mix and does not dissolve with alcohol. Water does not wash it well either. I recently got my hands on a bottle of Butyl Cellosolve and realized that it smelt the same as the AV thinner. I got a 500ml bottle for GBP3 to make my own thinner for AV. Here is the result: A is with AV's own thinner and T is the test I ran using my own mix of 10% Butyl Cellosolve, 30% IPA and 60% water. The levelling effect is the same, the drying times are similar and the paint texture looks similar. When I used it to wash a paint brush after painting with Vallejo paint, the paint washes off and does not gum up. Butyl Cellosolve is a butyl ether and used as a solvent for acrylic resin. Its other names are 2-Butoxyethanol, Butyl glycol or EGBE (ethylene glycol monobutyl ether). A 500ml bottle costing GBP3 can make me a 5 liter batch of thinner or airbrush cleaner.

I have a question that's proven a little confusing. For a long time I've had a bottle of Mig Productions Thinner for Washes, but this stuff seems to be nigh impossible to get anymore. Everywhere lists it out of stock, and Mig Productions itself doesn't seem to have a store anymore. All I can find is the Ammo Odourless Enamel Thinner, which I've no problem getting provided that it is similar to the Mig Productions Thinner in its softness and use with pigments (I use it fix them) and washes. Has anyone had any experience with both and is there any real difference between them? I'd really like to avoid harsh turps and stuff if I can. Gaz

Hi all. I've been thinking of purchasing the AK interactive NATO wash, but I'm curious to know if my Mig Thinner for Washes will work with it, considering the latter is for enamel washes (and Mig washes are a pain to locate) and the AK wash is enamel based. I'm hoping so, as this would avert the need for the AK thinner and let me use the cash for another product. But I'll defer to the expertise of others. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Gaz

Hi Does these new regulations regarding Airmail, that no paints, thinners, etc. are not allowed to be delivered outside UK or that it would be (very) expensive to customer due to some courier service ? I've been trying to order acryl paints and thinners from my favorite stores in UK and ran these kind of problems,I live in Finland btw. Is this some "lovely" EU thing or solely UK's ? Wonder why they can be delivered on Airmail from the Far East and North America. Have I understand something wrong myself or what....? Please help me this dear friends. TIA Teemu Haajanen
