The Mk.21 is still a bit sticky, so leave it alone and start something new. I have around 30 Spitfire kits that could be built - like the Bf 109 - said and done. Conversion parts from Quickboost 1:48 Fuselage extension (2.5mm = approx. 13cm in the original), closing the MG/MK case ejections, new larger engine area bottom. My advice for the right image: It's better to use the parts from the kit and sand away the dents for the autocannon, then there will be less hassle with sanding and filling!! F-24 cameras are underwings ready.

I have several large projects on the go (Hawker Hurricanes around the world; Last Legs Ponies; Minor Gustavs; Sexy American Singles in South American Service), but this one has been in my head for some time and, in fact, already underway! I want to introduce it formally now. "Spitfires-by-the-Seas" will involve building a pair of Spitfires in the markings of countries bordering five seas (so ten Spitfires total): Baltic Sea North Sea Andaman Sea Ionian Sea Mediterranean Sea Two of these are already completed: a Swedish S 31 (PR XIX) half of the Baltic Sea pair. WIP here: And a Thai PR XIX, which is half of the Andaman Sea pair. WIP here: I'm going to be building a Syrian Mk F 22 as part of the "I Feel Deserted" GB, which is why I decided it was about time to introduce my project! Stay tuned for more to come!

Well, here we go with the brand new, all singing, all dancing Spitfire from Airfix. No out of box review or anything like that. Just get on with building the damn thing I'm building it as the BBMF MkIX serial MK356, when it was painted in the colours of Sqn Ldr "Johnny" Plagis. So it'll be a bit of a hybrid, coded 5J-K but with a serial of MK356 not ML214. I was seriously considering doing it in NMF but I bottled it...and I'm a sucker for invasion stripes. I've taken a few engine bits off of the sprues while I'm finishing my Lancaster build and I've got to be honest, the fits aren't as good as the HK kit but the detail is stunning. I'm not rushing because as of now, there's no Airscale IP available. I asked Peter at Airscale and he said Airfix didn't make any details available to anyone pre launch so he's looking at 8 weeks min to get a product to market. As he says: "it is frustrating". Still, there's plenty to go at with the engine alone while I wait. Should be starting this build in earnest at the weekend. Thanks for looking in til then

Hello guys, it's been a while since I posted anything on the forum. This is my latest Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXc. It's the 1:48 Revell rebox of the Hasegawa kit. The build was uneventful, but the decals took a long time to move from the backing paper (does anyone know if leaving the decal on the wet paper for some time makes it easier to move later?)

Hot on the heels of the MkI Blenheim RFI, is the belated Mk.I Spitfire that preceded it on the workbench, finished 6 months ago. Today's soft overcast light was ideal again, and all the tools I'd used for the Blenheim shoot were still handy. This conversion was mainly based on the 2010 mould of the 1:48 Mk.I Spitfire that I picked up cheap-ish second hand. (I was told the Mk.V Spit makes a better candidate for this conversion) The transfers were the Xtradecal ones. Again, this recent Airfix kit went together easily, great for a relative newbie to the hobby to cut his teeth on. I've lived in Southampton for years, and there is a ton of aviation heritage locally on the South Coast here, and having the prototype Spitfire to display on the shelf has always been high on the wish list. Finally I got around to take photos of my most recent compeleted model. I decided to build the model from the 19th Fighter Squadron mainly because I wanted to keep the yellow outlined roundels in my spares box.

Here's another completion to celebrate getting my access back through my AT&T device. It's the the old tool Airfix Spitfire Mk.I finished as an aircraft from 66 Sqn at RAF Upwood in 1939. The two blade prop was snagged from the new Mk.I kit as it was going spare anyway. The decals are from a Kits at War sheet. I think the aircraft should have the early unarmoured windscreen, but I can live with the discrepancy. This is one of the few models I've ever painted twice; the first time I painted it, the clear gloss coat crazed all over the bottom of the model. So I stripped it down and started over.

https://www.flickr.com/gp/149247612@N04/CV2mz3 Finally found time to upload my 1:72 Airfix Dogfight Double, only the 3rd kit I've attempted, trying out some simple weathering techniques, and I'm quite pleased with the end product. It has been a learning curve, I enjoyed the little bit of info on the build instructions about the pilots and the aircraft. All in all it was a pleasant build, any feedback is welcome.
