  1. After countless learning on Haneto's posts. I have decided to learn the tricks and start my own Su-27UB. Starting with the ejection seat first! 2023-02-21 2023-03-22 Another day on continuing the cockpit. I must say I am surprised by the detail of this kit. GWH did a fantastic job of making sure the decal can fit perfectly on the panel. With some help with softer and heat gun, it can sit nicely with raised detail. This is better than the Quinto Studio in my opinion since printing always has pixel ink marks and blurry boundaries.
  2. Here is my 1:72 Su-27UBM-1 "Blue 67" Ukrainian Air Force. Trumpeter kit (not very good) with Eduard PE set, Pavla resin ejection seats, Aires resin aux air intakes, Master metal Pitot tube and some parts from old Heller kit. Foxbot decals and paint masks. Painted with Hataka Orange. It took me hundreds of hours to finish it and I`m still not very happy with a result. But looks nice in this camo. 😎 Thanks for watching!
  3. SU-27UB 1/72, built from two kits, Trumpeter was taken as a basis, and Zvezda as a donor. The main idea using Zvezda kit, much better geometry of the air intakes, but their installation to the Trumpeter was not so easy, how it's may be seems to the first look. Also from Zvezda kit was used landing gear, wheels, some elements of the exhaust nozzles, decals. In addition to this Eduard PE, pito tubes and gun barrel were made by hand. Thanks for looking, any comments are welcome.
  4. CAD images just arrived - ready to start moulding plastic....... I have no further information on actual release date - other than soon. Ken
  5. Famed Indonesian modeller Alex Sidharta has just sent me this photo..... It is, apparently, scaled up from the Trumpeter 1/72 scale version - with improvements. This is a sample boxing sent to his friend - so that's all I know about it. He promised to take more photos soon..... Happy Flankering! Ken Note:- Editted to change title from Trumpeter to Hobby Boss - on request
  6. Su-27UB Etch Detail for the Trumpeter Kit 1:72 Eduard The Trumpeter SU-27UB is a great kit, but if you want more refined detail, then feast your eyes on these! These sets produced by Eduard go some way to give a more scale accurate result focussing on those areas that plastic is most challenged. Set 73456 Two etch frets and a sheet of acetate are included. One fret is coloured self adhesive for the cockpit internals. The cockpit gets a comprehensive makeover giving replacement front and side panels as well as enhancements to the panel combings. Each seat is built up with 10 individual etch parts over the standard parts including seatbelts. The canopy gets a full compliment of internal framework and locking mechanisms. Acetate sheet in combination with some delicate parts replace the kit HUDs to restore scale thickness of these prominent parts. Wheel wells get hydraulic lines and the undercarriage receive brake lines and oleo scissors. The airbrake and u/c doors get the Eduard treatment too on the inside faces. The array of antennas and aerials around the nose, fuselage and wing / tail trailing edges are included so be ready with your best tweezers and carpet monster protection for these ! Finally, the weapon pylons are enhanced, although if you choose to include weapons, these may not be that noticeable. Set SS456 – Zoom Set Offering a budget alternative, this includes just the pre-painted self adhesive etch fret which focuses on the cockpit interior. It predominantly caters for the front / side panels and seat enhancements. Unfortunately, it doesn't include the canopy upgrades so if you want to use these, the larger set must be purchased. Conclusion A great option for fans of these Russain beasts if you like cramming extra detail into your builds. There are several very small parts, but if you’re used to using etch, assembly doesn’t present any difficult steps. Choice of set will depend largely on budget or detailing preferences.
