  1. Finally bagged a Stuka at the Northern Model show last month and having not built anything for a few months (although there's plenty half done) I thought I'd just stick it together and get it done. It really is a cracking little kit and it's good to finally have a newer model of this iconic plane. I masked the wings for the cammo and then free hand over the fuselage as I don't have the skill, time, patience, and fingers to mask around it. All done with a brush although my light blue wasn't the best hence the awful paint job underneath but you don't see it on a wooden shelf. Personally I think it's passable enough to be used in some sort of movie where it crashes into the same radar mast 3 times Thanks for looking. So what's the RAF's opinion, let's ask one what type of plane this is
  2. New to the site but I thought I'd start showing off my builds. The subject for today is Airfix's newly tooled 1/72 Junkers Ju87 B-1 Stuka, for which I chose to finish with Legion Condor markings as something different than the usual Luftwaffe Battle of Britain. This is a great kit and the cockpit detail is excellent. I do wish Airfix would add more rivet detail but aside from that it's gone together nicely with only small amounts of filler needed here and there. I think I'm now starting to get the hang of oil paint washing to finish along with airbrushed matt varnish instead of my usual brushed clear but I'll let you all be the judges. Comments welcome, enjoy!
  3. Ju 87 G-2, Werk Nr. 494083 at The RAF Museum, Hendon. Pics mine. This is a later, ground-attack variant; it was captured by British forces at Eggebek, Schleswig-Holstein in May 1945. It is thought to have been built in 19431944 as a D-5 before being rebuilt as a G-2 variant, possibly by fitting G-2 outer wings to a D-5 airframe. The wings have the hard-points for Bordkanone BK 3,7 gun-pods, but these are not fitted. It was one of 12 captured German aircraft selected by the British for museum preservation.
  4. The latest new release from Airfix is now on the shelves at Wonderland Models. It is their new-tool A03087 1/72 Junkers Ju 87B-1 kit. The kit has optional markings for 2 machines 1. 9./Sturzkampfgeschwader 51 based in France in August 1940 2. Kampfgruppe 88 Condor Legion based in Spain in 1938

  6. Hi everyone. Just wanted to show you recently finished model. A Hasegawa 1/48th scale Stuka bomber. As usual couple words about the kit first. It was quite old kit, but as you can expect from this manufacturer still nicely moulded and detailed. One downside was the decals. They were yellowish after all those years. I didn't pay any attention to it until I reached the level when I had to put them on.. Followed the advices online, I left them in the window for couple days, in the nights for couple hours left them in the UVB light. Still a bit yellowish I was desperate to finish it, so put them on and.. well, most of the yellow tint disappeared! MAGIC:) Seatbelts homemade with masking tape and a bit of wire. Used only Eduard masks and swastikas by ExtraDecals. Build was going fine until the very last things to do.. While matt-varnishing it, Stuka Diving (important word) Bomber took his first dive into the ground, The pilot didn't manage to pull up and the aircraft crashed quite badly.. Fortunately I found all the pieces and left the german engineers do the work and there it is two days later: Enjoy! Thanks! Bart
  7. Hello gents Next I will be building three of the old but worthy Fujimi Ju87B: Two are the "Immelman" boxing and one the "Shark Mouth" though I won't be building either of the schemes shown on the box art as they fall outside of the time-frame for the BoB GB. Although they are different boxings they contain the same parts so I will just show the contents from one of them. The instructions: ... and the sprue shots: The clear parts: ... and a few extras: Quickboost B-2 style exhausts and Eduard canopy masks... ... Eduard Superfabric seat harness sets: ... and just in case I need them, the early style metal propeller (these are from a set intended for the early Ju88A-4 but the props and spinners are the same for the Ju87B-1): I'm not sure what markings I will be using yet but one will be this famous aircraft from StG.2 (from the Kagero Battle of Britain Vol.1 book/transfer set) which was shot down and landed in fairly complete condition near Selsey in Sussex on 16 August 1940 and was subsequently much photographed: plus one from StG.1 (with the Hans Huckebein diving raven badge) and one from StG.77 if I can cobble together the necessary combination of codes and staffel badge... this set and this: should help with that as the markings for a BoB Stuka should be the same but without the yellow theatre markings... At present all the sprues have been washed and are air-drying (trans: I am about to have an afternooon nap so can't be bothered to dry them myself) so I hope to start on them this evening. Cheers, Stew
  8. Hi folk,s next winged project is a couple of Eduard Weekend Me109,s.I build my first Eduard 109 as the trop version and I loved everything about it so with my LMS knocking them out for a tenner I picked a pair over the last couple of months.I also picked up the Airfix club kit at King Kit and used it for the BoB GB leaving the decals free so what better schemes for them than the two in the Airfix boxing,so one will be in British colour,s (I love the yellow undersides) and the other in the lesser Known Japanese scheme (original Luftwaffe) which I think will look great with the Japanese Markings, should get a start tomorrow, here,s the two scheme's.
  9. Hi folk,s,latest build for the BoB GB. Italeri Stuka in the marking's of a Lannion based unit in the summer of 1940.Thank;s to Stew for the old Airfix marking's that let me build this one,I have tried three time's to get the thin white stripe that divides the red and white portion of the prop spinner right but had to give up! Ahh the joys of modelling.Thank's for looking.
  10. After the Ju-87B-2/U4 - ref. 03215 (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234944403-132-junkers-ju-87b-2u4-stuka-by-trumpeter-released/) and the Ju-87A - ref.03213 (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234960465-132-junker-ju-87a-stuka-by-trumpeter-released/) Trumpeter is to release a 1/32nd Junkers Ju-87G-2 Stuka kit in late April 2015 - ref.03218 Source: http://trumpeter-china.com/index.php?g=home&m=article&a=show&id=42&l=en Box art V.P.
  11. Morning all, here,s my take on Airfix,s venerable old 1/48 scale Stuka, after my initial disappointment at this boxing not having a Battle of Britain option and as the damn thing was only seven quid I had nothing to loose in having a crack at the North African based scheme also offered,so here she is and if you fancy a quarter scale Stuka don,t write this kit of as it builds beautifully and those rivet,s really look OK under paint, trials and tribulations here- http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234984087-airfix-148-stuka-quick-build/
  12. Hi folks,I love a cheap kit and for under seven quid this one fit,s the bill,I hoped it would have a BoB scheme sadly not the case but the smile returned when I saw the North African scheme which I always liked on the Stuka.this ones sand over blue with a "squiggly" camoflage which is not very clear in Airfix,s instructions so a trawl of the interweb is in order. The kit dates from the mists of time raised rivets(nicely done) and very chunky details and a basic cockpit but a nice clear canopy and decent decal,s. So OOB build should be a quick one too!
  13. One of the airfix black friday deals Junkers JU-87 Stuka.
  14. Hello all One of my recent builds - Italeri's Stuka in 1/48. Built out of the box, with just a Montex mask to assist with the canopy (which would have driven me nuts to do myself with tape) and a bit of EZ line for the aerial. Generally happy with the result, although I had a couple of issues, more down to my limited skills than the kit I suspect. I was originally planning to pose it with the engine partially exposed, as the kit had a decent looking engine included, but just couldn't get it lined up properly to have the engine cowls on one side, so ended up covering it up completely. Also, had a bit of trouble with the bomb release mechanism, so the main bomb is just stuck on... Painted with Tamiya acrylics, weathered with a Flory dark dirt wash and a flattened finish with Vallejo Matte Medium. Anyhow, to the pictures. Thanks for looking. Adam
  15. Junkers JU-87A detail sets Eduard 1:32 Trumpeter have released a couple of Ju-87s in the past, but it was good to see an early A version getting the 1:32 treatment. Apparently the kit itself is pretty good with some really nice detail straight out of the box. But, as is their way, Eduard have found areas that could do with even more detail with the release of these recently released sets. Detail Set (32832) The parts are contained on two sheets of relief etched brass of roughly equal size, with one being unpainted and the other not only pre-painted but self adhesive as well. The unpainted sheet contains items such as the rudder pedal plates, side console lower pipe covers, oxygen filter perforated cases, document pockets, rear machine gun perforated barrel sleeve, ammunition drum handles, radiator grille screens, pilots gas mask container and mounting bracket, joystick cable and additional fittings not included in the kit. The pre-painted sheet contains the instrument panels complete with the instrument faces on the backplate. A little dab of aqua clear will give them the appearance of glass fronts. The sheet also contains the myriad of colour levers, knobs, auxiliary instrument clusters, new throttle quadrant, switch clusters, trim wheels, gun sight fittings and radio face panels. Interior Zoom Set (33145) This zoom set contains only the above pre-painted sheet and allows the modeller to build a well detailed cockpit without the hassle of getting bogged down with detail that might otherwise be deemed superfluous. Seatbelts (32833) This small single sheet set contains a complete and comprehensive set of seat belts, buckles and clasps for both the pilot and radio operator/rear gunner. The belts look like they will be rather fiddly to assemble, but will look great when fitted. The gunners seat also receives a new cushion pad top. Although the cushion needs to be sourced by the modeller out of 1.0mm plasticard, and the flexible back rest. The seat belts are pre-painted so no need for some fiddly painting, just a slightly darker wash to tone them down a bit. Masks (JX178) To complement the sets mentioned above, Eduard have also released a set of paint masks for the Ju-87A, which helps masking the clear areas a whole lot easier particularly as there is a quite a lot of framing on the Stuka. Conclusion There’s rarely a kit release without an Eduard set or two being designed for it, they are becoming so prolific. Whilst not as comprehensive as some of the previous releases, (perhaps Trumpeter got it right and didn’t need as much), they will add that extra level of detail sought by some modellers. It still disappointing that they chose to release the seatbelt set separate from what is basically an interior set, but I guess it gives modeller more choice on how much they want to add. The masks will probably be most useful though. Highly recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  16. Hello All This is my first RFI so don't be too nice. I won't learn if my mistakes aren't pointed out. The WIP is here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234973040-172-revell-junkers-ju-87-gd-stuka-tank-buster/ I drilled out the barrels on the main guns, replaced the kit supplied rear seat gunner gun with an Aires MG 17, added navigation lights, a landing light and attempted to weather the plane. The canopy was a pig to mask as the framing was only partially there and it doesn't fit very well. I did have a lot of fun building it and wished I had taken a little more interest in the plane. There was plenty of filling and sanding to do. My son bought it for my birthday as a joke as he know I am not quite keen on German aircraft. There is also a nice cock-eyed U/C leg and a boarding step. I will get them right one day. Thanks for looking. Stephen
  17. My Son bought this lovely kit for my birthday, wicked little bugger, I use the word little very lightly he is much taller than me, 6'15". I have never built a German plane before, I don't like German planes, well until today. Yes we have been to Toyworld again Winenut. I asked him which version I should build - bombs or guns, guns won. Some guns 3.7 cm but with only 6 rounds per gun. The kit has raised panel lines and plenty of flash to clean up. Could somebody tell me what interior colour I should use. Winenut used a grey and the instructions tell me I should use light olive. Good to be confused right from the start. Thanks for looking. Stephen
  18. Well my self imposed abstinence lasted about a week... The BV 141 nearly killed me (and others) but I'm back up off the canvas and ready to enthrall you with my modest skill and snail paced build speed. So chocks away! It's the Airfix 1/72 Stuka old school mould and I'm doing it out of the box and without any fancy pants carry on and in Italian livery....well decals anyway. I really have to cure my ridiculous obsession with weird warbirds from the Third Reich.......Allied build next I promise! Here's the box art....why not eh....? Well most of the box art anyway I actually washed the sprues for the very first time. I have no idea if that's necessary....I really don't. BUT! I did it anyway and then dried them on my wife's lovely striped tea towel I started gluing a few bits... Sorry this photo is a bit crappy ......but there's not much to see anyway Then I did whatever bit's I could without paint required...yet! So that's it..... Off we go again LOL!
  19. All, I have seemed to become a bit of a Canopy mask addict - that is I find it difficult to think about starting 'said' kit until I have an AM Canopy Mask on hand. I've come across 1/72 Stuka Canopy masks for the Fujimi kit, however cannot seem to find one for the Italeri model. I find this quite odd, as I would have thought that the Italeri kit is more widely available than the Fujimi offering. Anyway - on second thoughts, has anyone tried the Fujimi masks on the Italeri kit? - Do they fit OK? Cheers .. Dave.
  20. After its 1/32nd Junkers Ju-87B-2/U4 (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234944403-132nd-junkers-ju-87b-2u4-stuka-by-trumpeter-released/?hl=stuka), Trumpeter is to release the Ju-87A version from the Stuka - ref.03213. Release expected late July or August 2014 Source: http://www.aeroscale.co.uk/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=16786 The box art V.P.
  21. I'm building the airfix 1/72 Stuka. Any experts out there on the correct RLM colours for the Interior, Upper splinter pattern and lower surfaces??? I'm having a crack at the Italian 239a 97 Gruppo Squadriglia 1941 version but pretty sure they just had the original German camo with Italian insignia. Any help greatly appreciated Cheers
  22. Thought I would share my Stuka 1/48 panzerkraker , fun build and should have been quicker built but work got inway lol
  23. I received my next kit in the post a couple of days ago; the Italeri Junkers Ju87 B/R Stuka in 1/72 scale. I ordered it from eModels.co.uk, and was on offer at only £8.56; a very good price for a nice kit. Here is the box: The kit has 2 main sprues: With instructions, decal sheet and clear sprue: The kit looks great, with not much flash and nice detail on the mouldings. The lower wing is in one piece, so it will hopefully make for a straightforward build. Parts such as the tail wheel are moulded onto the fuselage too, which is useful. I try to try out different tools and methods with each build, so this time I will be trying Humbrol Liquid Poly. I was getting tired of the needle of my poly cement getting clogged up. I will also be trying MicroSol and MicroSet for the decals; and I also ordered a sheet of swastikas to make things more authentic: I will make a start on the build this evening.

Can any one tell me if the Ju87 G Tank buster , served in the North African campaign? Been wanting to do something in DAK colours, any pictures would be appreciated cheers Mick
  25. Hi All, A recently completed Stuka. I painted it in the full european splinter camp then sprayed the RLM 79 over the top. I added the seat belts and the seat back from the foil off a wine bottle, and the rear gun was an extra courtesy of Eduard. Unfortunately I couldn't get the rear gun bezel turned so the gun sits a bit funny, and I still don't do antenna wires! The base is a cheese board and bit of builders sand... Hope you like it.
