  1. 1/12 StuG IIIG SCRATCH BUILD After building a 1/24 scratch built Maus I wanted to build something with a bit more detail and in a bigger scale. I decided to go for a StuG IIIG late war with Zimmerit, Schurzen and ultimately crew as it will become a diorama. Here's some photos of the fighting compartment and engine deck which were 3D printed. This is where I'm at so far. Now to start adding some detail. There's also a video on YouTube where you can see more of the process HERE
  2. Sturmgeschütz III on the Battlefield 5 World War Two Photobook Series (9786155583179) Peko Publishing The Sturmgeschütz, or StuG for short was a turretless armoured tank destroyer from WWII that was part of a successful line of ambush predators employed by Nazi Germany against enemy tanks. The StuG III was unsurprisingly based upon the chassis of the Panzer III, with the upper hull and turret removed and replaced by a low-profile casemate on the front half and a flat engine deck at the rear. The casemate was filled with a 75mm gun that was adapted to the ch
  3. Hey there, It's been a while since a have made a post... well, here I'm with a small beast: a Stug IV from Italeri, 1/35 scale. Is the first tank that I make since I was a little boy, and it is very grateful to do, I mean, I use to make Airplanes and when you have the freedom to make a more "dirty" work it feels good. The kit is really good, it comes with some PE parts an a metal canon barrel, separated track links, and a really good details in general. I had only added an MG34 from Dragon to upgrade him. For about 30€ is a very recomendable kit. And, here is he:
  4. Finished the build at last. Pics of the finished product, with and without figures.
  5. The is the 1/76 Airfix "Assault Gun" from a very old bagged kit. For it's age it is nicely detailed. A few bits were added from the Fujimi kit like mg, v-scope and rear deck wheels.
  6. After almost 50 years of modelling (mostly aircraft, but also ships, cars, railways) at last I decided to build a small collection of AFVs in 1/72. Frankly speaking somewhere deep in the 70s or 80s I have built two or three such models (Centurion, Patton and 155mm M40 IIRC), but the time goes by and new kits appear every year. As a newbie in this ocean of modelling I would like to know your opinion which kits of several WW2 AFVs are the best on the market now. I'm not a rivet-counter, but correct shape and sharp surface detail are more important for me than sheer number of parts, opened h
  7. Here's my latest, Dragons StuG III Ausf A, the 1996 "Whittman" release. I've added Eduards photoetch, and scratchbuilt the tow cable, shackle pins, gun cleaning rods, jack block. It's painted with Tamiya acrylics, marked with "Star" decals "Sturm pt 1" decals, and weathered with oils, ground up watercolors, and pastels. Hope you like it, Colin
  8. On my bench now is the original 1996 issue of Dragons StuG III ausf A. It's finished in the original RAL 7017 (Signal brown) over Panzer grey. I'll be using "Star decals" "STURM!" decal set. I've added part of Eduards photoetch set, and scratch built the tow cable (from fine solder), the jacking block, and the 4 tow shackle pins (hanging on their chains in above photo). I've also made the 5 smoke canisters from sprue, with chains twisted from fine copper wire. Hopefully it will be finished in a week or so ... hope you enjoy. Colin
  9. Build 12 Another of the little 1/100 armour kits from Zvezda that I hope will prove that although it's small, doesn't mean it can't bee a great model Price: £2.99 from Antics
  10. Hello! I have just finished my very first model kit - The german Sturmgeschütz IV from Tamiya. I enjoyed this set very much and it was a fun build. i spent two nights building it, without any problems. the pieces fit well, and the only thing missing is the painting. i will get to painting when i get the money to buy some. Anyways, here are the pictures: Sorry for the bad quality of my camera. Instead of installing the sideplates, i added logs (sticks from a bush) to the right side of the tank. i'm going to make a diorama for this later on, which i want to be in a forrest area. Hope you
