Hi all and here's a finish from me, Italeri's 1/72 KA-6D Tanker Intruder of VA-95, Green Lizards. Built for the US Navy Group Build here. The short build thread is here but to recap: Kit: Italeri 004 KA-6D (also boxed as 1405) Build: Out of box, kit decals Paints: Tamiya, Mr Hobby, Klear, Flory Models Grime wash, W&N Matt Varnish Extras: Eduard mask for the canopy I'm not sure if KA-6's ever had an odd-coloured drop tank but I liked the idea. Thanks for looking and Fly Navy! I just finished this as a five day quickie build, from parcel arriving at the door to RFI: I added glazing, headlight, wipers, mirrors and an early roof but it’s otherwise as Mr Airfix intended it to be. WIP is here, replete with lots of useful information on colours. And I’ve still got the Bedford to go! Thanks for looking, Adrian

Hi, I am normally an aircraft modeller, however I thought I would like to try IBG's Bedford QL Refueller. The kit is posing no problems, however I am trying to make it like the QL in these photos. These photos were taken by my dad in 1957, at RAF Benbecula, while he was posted there following his trade training as an instrument fitter. The photos show the vehicle to be a variant with only two booms, whereas the IBG kit has three booms. I have cross referenced the IBG kit with Airfix's 1/76 kit and I have noticed that the plumbing is different as well as there being two comes near the rest of the tank. Could anyone identify the specific type of QL is in the photos and confirm that it does have the two comes and and different plumbing than what is offered in the kit? If possible, could anyone please provide either photos or scale drawings of the type? Many thanks. Andy

Airfix RAF Refuelling Set - Return to the hobby
Tigers18 posted a topic in Work in Progress - Armour
Hi everyone, After a long break from the hobby i've started back up. Purchased an airbrush and had a long spending spree on eBay. To start myself off easily I thought i'd begin with the Airfix RAF Refuelling Set. I bought an old set on eBay and thought i'd attempt to salvage it (or ruin it knowing me!) As you can see it's quite an old kit so i'm expecting to come across a few broken or missing parts Quick brush paint of the cabs interior and glue it together. Decided to leave the doors open so that i can use it for more varied displays The first problem. A drive shaft missing, barely noticeable when fully built but still annoying. More photos to follow as i make more progress next weekend and my adaptor for my airbrush is delivered. If anyone has any advice then please feel free to share. I'm not sure what colour scheme to use for this set, I know the one shown with the kit is a post war colour scheme. Thanks! Tigers -
Does anyone know of a source for plans for a Foden airport refueller (I think that is what this vehicle is) such as the one below? I'm looking for dimensions to scratch build one in 1:144 scale. I have checked Blueprints dot com and they don't appear to have one. Also looking for details of a Bedford S type refueller, for the same Shell-BP company. cheers Mike

I discovered one of these in my stash hidden as a freebie inside another kit and thought it might look nice next to my Judy one day. It's all sealed and in good order minus the box so a nice addition to the 'shelf breakers'. Obviously not a popular subject (only found 1 BM build pic, although hints of at least 2 more) but I am hoping someone can point to pix, plans etc of the originals. Google bought up 2 very poor quality pix but little else. Also see there's a tanker that shows up occasionally. Perhaps a fleabay/market hunt is in order... At least it will be different to the current fad of RAF WW2 vehicles.
