  1. Hi all, Does anyone know where I can get an after market nose pod so I can turn my 32nd IDS tornado in to an RAF gulf war tornado??? Had a look at Hannants and they haven't got anything. Any ideas? Cheers James
  2. AN/AAQ-28(V) Litening pod 1:72 Eduard Brassin The AN/ AAQ-28(V) Litening pod is an Israeli-designed precision targeting pod system currently being used by many nations around the world. It is an all weather day/night targeting system which uses optical & infra red sensors to identify a target and then a built in laser designator to paint the target for laser guided munitions. The pod also works to improve accuracy for unguided weapons by supply information to the aircrafts systems. The pod from Eduard in their Brassin range features the main pod, and a the separate seeker head in resin, with the pod ends in photo etch. A small sheet of decals provides all the markings for the pod. Conclusion This should enhance any model of an aircraft which carries this pod. Highly Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  3. So for my third entry into this GB, I have decided - probably against my better judgement to have a go with at least part of the huge 1:44 scale Thunderbird 2 I managed to acquire recently. In case you didn't see the post it was this kit: (Note the 12" ruler in the photo!) I'm not quite ready for the whole thing just yet so I thought I'd start off with something simple like - ahem - building the internals of the pod!!! There are plenty of references out there, for example: So lets start off with looking at the pod that is supplied in the kit So the first thing to observe is I'll need to cut open the door. That little nick you see is where I experimented with cutting this material. Its very strange stuff - very dense expanded polystyrene with a resin outer coating. Its VERY hard to cut! inside the pod you have this: for the bottom - the lumps are indents in the underside to accept rollers as the undercarriage. In these photos you can see how think this stuff is! So the first job was to fit a floor for the pod - those bumps look like a nice base to work to, and here is my first attempt: However you can see its a bit undulating as I only used 0.5mm plastic card which just isn't solid enough. So I tried again with 1.5mm and got this You can also see I've cut out the lower part of the doorway down to the level of the floor. This leaves a bit of a gap under where the moulded door goes further. I'll have to fill that later. Finally for this initial post, here is where I am on cutting out the upper part of the door This took about an hour and half last night after which I'd had enough - its really hard work cutting this stuff, especially as if you saw too fast it generates too much heat and the stuff melts where you are trying to cut!!! I'll try to finish this cutting off today and in the meantime start designing the inner ribs that will define the internal shape.
  4. ...that next to the engines, that is! Hi chaps, I was just browsing through Pointerdog7's decal list and from doing a bit of on-line research I got to discover this picture: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Uganda_Airlines_Boeing_707_Groves-1.jpg Can anyone please tell me what that pod hanging near the wing to fuselage join is? Was there another example hanging on the opposite side? Any detail pictures of it anywhere? I was pondering about what livery to use on my first 707 and this looks kind of interesting. I also noticed that there were at least two slightly different liveries worn by Uganda Airlines 707s: the one pictured above and this: Is the livery as shown by the Pointerdog decals the second (final) one? Any idea what year the font and tail design got changed? Thank you! Cheers, Niki
  5. Hi, anybody happen to know what pod were used for the first GBU-49 drops from the Mirage 2000D flying out from kandahar? PDLCT or Damocles? I am making serial 3-XK, I think. Cheers
  6. Hi Currently have a stalled 1/48 Hawk 100 build that is intended to be an RAF T.2. The thing holding it up is the centreline pod Is this unique to the Hawk and not carried by anything else? I have thought about bodging one using the surplus drop tanks, Red Arrows smoke pod and a spare gun pack, anybody else had a go? The whole problem would be solved if the T2 carried the gun pack but I've never seen one fitted. Or a nice AM company making a resin one Any other ideas? Ta Chris
