  1. Hi all, this is my first full interior kit. It is a T-34/85 Berlin 1945 by Ding Hao and the base is by Coastal Kits. i am thinking of entering this into the Scalemodel world in Telford this year in the Junior entry as i am still eligible. i also need help on how i should display it, any tips would be highly appreciated 😃 sorry about bad quality, Instagram compresses the photos, plus i have awful lighting for photos
  2. Although I have been doing some railway modelling, I have been going through a dry spell in terms of enthusiasm, productivity and just generally not getting anything done. Today, a broken boiler forced me to have an unexpected afternoon off. While I waited for the gas man, I made a start on what I hope will be a reasonably simple build to get me back into the swing of things. R4118, UP-W, Hurricane Mk1, 605 (County of Warwick) Squadron, RAF Croydon September 1940 / IWM Duxford September 2015 by jongwinnett, on Flickr I know the Airfix 1/48 Hurri isn’t perfect, but as an OOTB build it suits me. And as the kit markings include UP-W, which @procopius, @cedb and I saw at Duxford on our grand boys day out (was that really almost two years ago?) the choice of subject was straightforward. R4118, UP-W, Hurricane Mk1, 605 (County of Warwick) Squadron, RAF Croydon September 1940 / IWM Duxford September 2015 by jongwinnett, on Flickr I deviated from the instructions by building up the undercarriage box and main spar onto the lower wing before adding the cockpit tubular structure. I read of doing this in a magazine (Airfix?) and it certainly seems a more logical route, giving a square and sturdy foundation. 3. Hi Folks, Here is another of my old Airfix stash props. Finally dragged out of hiding and cobbled together for fun. I sanded down, not off, most of the surface details, and added the roll cage and armour head rest behind the pilot from scraps of stock plastic sheet, and stretched sprue. Fit of the clear parts was iffy, and it took quite a bit of time to get them to comply, especially the rearmost section. However all was well in the end. I added gun ports in the leading edges of the wings too. Apart from that its OOTB. Still looks good built up (I think) even though its pretty basic by todays standards. Here's the pics: All brush painted with Humbrol and aeromaster acrylics. Some limited weathering was applied to the main surfaces with very small amount of drybrushed matt white. Kit decals shattered on impact with water so I used AM set by Printscale - Buffalo Aces. This aircraft is Sqdrn Leader Harper RAAF, 453 Sqdrn Singapore December 1941. I presume his kill markings are for other theatre of operations unless the Germans were helping out the Japanese at some point! All comments welcolme, Cheers Greg
  4. Hello! As summer reading I've laid my hands on Slaget om England, Christer Bergströms latest book on the Battle of Britain (To be published in english during 2015 http://www.bergstrombooks.se/battleofbritain.htm ) He seems to be of the opinion that the Bf110 wasn't that rubbish, just used the wrong way. Escorting bombers instead of fighter sweeps (over middle and north of england) is not the way to go. Anyway, I thought about the Bf110, looked at my stash and decided that i needed a small simple build, so naturally the complex Eduard is out. I can only manage one complex build per year or something of that effect. But I do have this: All the parts for a C is there, and with a little help from a friend i also got hold of the Italeri decals for M8+CP You can tell that this is from a different subcontractor than what Airfix is using now. The plastic is harder, the panel lines wider, but the mold separation lines are smaller. I can only imagine how the 1/24 Typhoon would've looked coming from this supplier instead! A slight case of wing warping was noted Boilding water, and brute force clamping took care of that Then I started with the cockpit And main lading gear Landing gear is quite detailed, but the cockpit is very plain. I'll add some strips ans wires there to make it look a little more busy. In worst case, I can always count on the thick greenhouse canopy to hide the worst That's another one added to the bench, and no one rescued from the shelf of doom:
  5. In a mad fit of ancient-kit-zealotry I've decided that what I really need is another build.....I've settled on this: Piccy Be Gone I will be building strictly OOTB (correcting this one is beyond me), but I will probably be fiddling around with the aircrew a bit.....It will be modelled in flight on a stand. Wish me luck.....I'm going in!
