Hi again everyone Sorry, but it's been quite a while since I last posted any projects on here but I've been waiting for another model kit that would be suitable for adding lights that was within my budget and scope. Well, after yet another birthday (November) and Christmas (my favourite times for receiving cash) I have since purchased an airbrush kit and spray booth so please be kind when viewing these pictures as I have such a lot more to learn. After spending over 45 years of hand painting I finally bit the bullet and came into the 21st Century. I must admit I should have done it so much earlier but, alas, I'm a very slow learner Anyway, I shall be catching up with all the latest projects on here until my next project (the Revell Iveco Stralis with lights) needs finishing, looking forward to seeing more of the excellent builds that appear on here in between. So enjoy (hopefully) these samples of my first airbrushed kit and I look forward to any views, good or bad, and cannot wait to look at the posts I have missed. Spent today with perhaps the major manufacturer of 'O' gauge (1:43.5) railway kits in the UK and whilst discussing future plans he's said that amongst the kits that he has in the pipeline are warwell's and warflats. Kits are designed using 3D software, nothing new these days, but he's been using it long before the like of Hornby, Airfix etc. The kits are state of the art using full multimedia techniques, pressure injected resin (no bubbles), etched brass, last wax and whitemetal castings. Not cheap but not lacking in detail. So what has this got to do with Britmodeller? He's recognised that these too could be of use to the military modeller and is looking at the possibility of releasing these in both 1:48th and 1:35th - and if these go down well there could be other wagon's (possibly loco's too) in the pipeline. The only downside would be everything he's looking at producing kits for would have been used by UK railways. Any takers? p.s. Bit of a scoop as the news has not yet been made to the model railway fraternity and is posted here with permission.

Though the T-44 did not see combat in World War II, it was issued to tank brigades for training purposes. It was never shown publicly during military parades and pictures were never shown publicly until the secrecy was dropped. T-44 was being developed in order to create a tank that would have better combat and technical characteristics than the T-34. SPECIFIC FEATURES The original intention was to retain the high mobility and speed of a T-34 and to provide the T-44 with heavier armour protection against large-caliber tank guns. This was accomplished by adding thicker armour but reducing the internal volume of the hull. Although the T-44 used many components of the T-34, it had a new hull, and a modified model diesel engine, suspension and transmission. THE MAIN DIFFERENCES FROM THE T-34-85 T-44’s hull had a simplified construction without fenders. The hull of the T-34-85 had T-shape cross-section while T-44’s hull had a rectangular shape. The height of the t-44’s hull was reduced to 300 mm. The new V-44 12-cylinder 4-stroke diesel engine, developing 500 hp, was a more powerful version of the T-34's model V-2 with a new planetary manual 5-speed transmission system, filtration system, improved cooling system, horizontally placed water and oil pumps and an improved fuel system which increased its power output. It was the first tank design to feature transverse engine placement, which made it smaller than a standard T-34 and gave the crew more space. The hull upper front armour (glacis plate 60°) thickness was doubled to 90 mm. Even though it was more heavily armoured, the weight of the T-44 was the same. The tank's crew did not include a radio operator/machine gunner. This space was used for ammunition stowage area, transferred from the floor of the fighting compartment. As a result were improved working conditions. The bow machine gun and driver's hatch switched positions on the glacis plate. One of the machine guns was mounted to fire through a tiny hole in the center of the glacis plate. Because the tank's crew did not include a radio operator/machine gunner, the driver operated this light machine gun. The T-44 had a compact torsion-bar suspension instead of the T-34's Christie coil springs. -

Ok while having a long boring nightshift I have come up with an idea for a GB which could include almost everyone! A South Latin American GB Ok after lots of requests by everyone.....well Steve anyway, I had a think about this and decided to open it up to the rest of Latin America. This GB will now cover anything and everything South American "of the border", as long as it was used there or built there it’s ok.
