  1. B-26K Invader Upgrade Sets (For ICM) 1:48 Eduard ICM have created a broad range of 1:48 invader kits under the A-26 and B-26 codes in various guises, and they’re thoroughly modern kits that are well-detailed out of the box, making a lot of modellers happy. Eduard's new range of sets are here to improve on the kit detail in the usual modular manner. Get what you want for the areas you want to be more of a focal point. As usual with Eduard's Photo-Etch (PE) and Mask sets, they arrive in a flat resealable package, with a white backing card protecting the contents and the instructions that are sandwiched between. Interior (491262) Two frets are included, one nickel-plated and pre-painted, the other bare brass. A complete set of new layered instrument panels, sidewalls and side consoles with added levers for the cockpit and the extensive instrument panel on the side wall in full colour, with multiple floor skin parts; internal structural details; a large number of parts for the central throttle quadrant; additional seat supports; equipment boxes around the interior, and a central overhead instrument panel in the roof of the canopy. Zoom! Set (FE1262) This set contains a reduced subset of the interior, namely the pre-painted parts that are used to improve on the main aspects of the cockpit, as seen above. Whatever your motivations for wanting this set, it provides a welcome boost to detail, without being concerned with the structural elements. Exterior & Undercarriage (481080) This set arrives on a single large bare brass fret, and contains parts to detail the gear bays with new surface skins for the roof, rear bulkhead and sidewalls, plus another skin for the underside of the upper wing that can be seen through the bay opening. It also includes a full wiring harness for the twin engines, plus additional blocks that are fixed to the bell-housings at certain points, as shown on the accompanying diagram. The nose and main gear legs get replacement oleo scissor-links, and in front of the bomb bay a set of airflow disruptor “fingers” are added in either the deployed or retracted position. Seatbelts STEEL (FE1263) These belts are Photo-Etch (PE) steel, and because of their strength they can be etched from thinner material, which improves realism and flexibility in one sitting. Coupled with the new painting method that adds perceived extra depth to the buckles and other furniture by shading, they are more realistic looking and will drape better than regular brass PE. As well as a set of four-point belts for the pilot, you also get two sets of lap belts for the other two crew members with comfort pads under the buckles on all the waist belts. Masks (EX844) Supplied on a sheet of yellow kabuki tape, these pre-cut masks supply you with a full set of masks for the canopy, with compound curved handled by using frame hugging masks, while the highly curved gaps are in-filled with either liquid mask or offcuts from the background tape. Masks Tface (EX845) Supplied on a larger sheet of yellow kabuki tape, these pre-cut masks supply you with everything above, but also give you another set of canopy masks tailored to fit the interior of the glazing so that you can paint the internal frames and give your model that extra bit of realism. 2. Hi all, Returning to modeling with a Eduard Pacific P-38 kit I chanced upon on ebay, having just read "Forked-Tailed Devil" previously, I had to have it. Interesting project so far being the first time I've used either photo etched or resin parts. Safe to say I've lost/crushed a few PE bits & made a few errors along the way but still pleased with it so far. Not feeling ready to do a NMF I'm aiming to build it up to an olive green / grey version flown by Capt Jay T Robbins in 1943 I'm nearing the stage to start painting (1st attempt with an airbrush) but having built the canopy (pig of a job) & now applied the Eduard mask set supplied with the kit (another first) I'm really disappointed with the 2 side windows which have a X brace across them, the mask set is just not even and will look awful if I don't correct it. So can anyone point me in the direction of some tips on how to address this without losing too much hair. I would say my modeling abilities are rusty & limited by fat fingers & unsteady hand but I have high hopes & willing to learn. Thanks in advance, will post some pics when I remember to stop fiddling and take some. Lonners
  3. Hi all, I've recently bought the Trumpeter Ju-87A 1/24 kit (02420) and naively(?) thought a canopy mask would be available, however after an exhaustive search I cannot find one. Does anyone know where I can get one, or does someone have one they can sell me please? NB. It MUST be the Ju-87A, NOT the Ju-87B as the canopy design was different, particularly the rear gunners part. I'm struggling to comprehend why Eduard or Montex didn't provide one for this kit! If you have built this kit, what did you use? I'm not an experienced modeler so please bear this in mind when suggesting a method. Also I use acrylic paints and hairy sticks, not airbrushing. I did consider getting the 1/32 masks and cutting/expanding these, or scanning to PC, scaling up in MS Paint and printing on a sheet of Kabuki, if available. If it comes to it I will mask by hand using 2mm tape and fill with a liquid mask which is what I expect others have done. Thanks in advance for your help. Paul

    Oramask 810

A hopeful request from someone who has just acquired a Cricut Explore Air 2: Can any kindly BM'er let me have some offcuts of Oramask 810 that I can try without investing in a 5 meter roll? I'll happily reimburse you for the postage and if you're at Telford next year, also stand you a bacon roll... Apart from the scrounging, does anyone here regularly use a cutter with this material, I'm experimenting with Tamiya masking sheet first on the grounds that I can never get vinyl canopy masks (e.g. Montex or P-Mask) to conform to curves like the the Eduard "washi" masks. I bought this beast after watching a crafter friend of mine make paper lace patterns with 2 mm leaves and 1 mm trailing vines using thin card stock and figured that it should do canopy masks and letters easily. Cheers Anil
  5. Hello, As the title suggests, I am looking to see if any manufacturer makes a mask set for the AZ wildcat series. I have the F4F-3 and the FM-2 Wildcats and if no mask set has been made are there alternatives that would be very close? Thank you, Jeffers.
  6. Fokker D.VII OAW Mask set Eduard 1:48 Recently released to accompany the 'Weekend' kit is a set of wheel masks. The should actually fit any of Eduards D.VIIs. Cut on a small square of kabuki tape, they will make short work of masking off the ‘hubs’ and simplifying the task of painting the tyres. Just remember that WW1 tyres were never black, but ranged from dark grey up to a pinkish white. Review sample courtesy of
  7. Hello again! Since I have plans to build some airliners after Christmas, there is one question I have... and that is: What do I do with windows? I don't think the kits that I'll be making come with the plexiglass inserts for the windows. I do not want to fill them up because that would mean I'd have to buy window decals which costs more £££. I am planning on leaving them open, as this will also make painting easier. However, I still want the plane to look nice and dont want my modelling dignity to leak out the windows ( ), so maybe covering the windows from the back or something? So just dump all your ideas on me for airliner windows that doesn't involve filling them. Has anyone tried leaving the windows just the way they are? If so, what is your opinion on open windows? [FYI: I have done some background reading, but I'm still a noob infront of y'all ] Thanks in advance, Hamdhan

  9. Fw190A-8 Etch & Canopy Masks for the Airfix Kit Eduard 1:72 The new FW190 from Airfix is a great kit and generally well received in the community despite some niggles that have been covered in builds and reviews. Eduard are always on the case looking for ways to improve kits and they've released these sets. Fw190A-8 Etch detail (Set 73493) As you would expect, the cockpit gets plenty of attention from this two fret pack with some self adhesive pre-painted etch. Both front and side panels are provided in painted etch, as are the seatbelts. A nice little touch is the inclusion of some BMW badges, although you'd better have your Optivisor at the ready or your best specs to handle these! Included on the unpainted fret is the armoured head rest and rear cockpit combing. The flaps on the Airfix kit are not included and somewhat unusually, are not split between the upper and lower halves of the wings. Instead, they are solid lumps with the whole trailing edge fitted to the upper wing. As such, a lot of plastic needs to be removed to fit the etch flaps included here. The flap rear bulkhead has an intricate multi angled shape and looks like it may require a suitable tool to do the bending. As such, if you don't have one of these, building the flaps as per instructions may prove difficult, so please consider this. The gear bays get some rewarding improvements and the oleo scissors and brake lines are included for the main gear legs too. Other features included are trim tabs, various aerials and drop tank collar. On the whole, it looks like a comprehensive set but those flaps may prove fiddly. For more information, see HERE Fw190A-8 Flexible Paint Masks Eduard have now released this to take the pain out of painting the tiny canopy and wheels. Conclusion Two great items for any fans of the new Airfix Fw190. The etch gives a great boost for the detailing ability of the kit, however I think the flaps could of been engineered in a somewhat more user friendly way even if it did mean a slight compromise in accuracy. 10. Hi all, I'm a complete novice just trying to get my kit together before embarking on some (hopefully) great modelling journeys. I've an airbrush which I haven't yet used, just a bargain basement thing from eBay (didn't see the point in splashing out straight away, I can always expand at a later date). The one thing I feel the need to purchase is a respirator or mask of some sort; my modelling will be taking place in the garage and there are no windows and with winter almost here, I'll be keeping the door shut! Can anybody recommend a mask or respirator? It doesn't need to be too flashy and the cheaper the better, but it does need to be effective. Thanks in advance, Scott. PS: If anybody has any tips they learned from when they started airbrushing, please feel free to share
  11. I have laid down my base coat on a 1:48 Airfix Spitfire Va. The Painting diagrams are not to scale. I could try and scan them in and enlarge the diagram to make paintiing masks. I see some people use blue-tack. I am not that skilled with an airbrush yet so I would have to mask the camo. I see in Brett Green's video he raises the mask with blue tack. Of course he is working with a commercial product and on a 109, neither of which help. Any suggestions?
