  1. Hi all Here is my 1:48 L-39ZA by Trumpeter (05805) l started this back in September 2023 and finished it on New Year’s Day! I should of had it finished back in November 23 but had an disaster with the canopies which resulted in me having to order replacements. Anyway as with all my builds of 2023 this was another kit that was picked out of the stash by my wife for me to build. I brought a few aftermarket items for this build, Eduard cockpit photo etch set (FE920) Eduard seatbelts (FE921) Eduard TFace canopy masks (EX612) Quickboost L-39ZA Gun Pod (QB48 858) Quickboost L-39ZA Pylons (QB48 855) Reskit L-39 Wheel set (RS48-0210) Master pitot tubes (AM-48-106). I decided on aftermarket decals from Model Maker Decals (L-39ZA 30 Years in Bulgarian Service (MMD-D48109) I used Life colour paints for the first time on this build and can’t say I was overly impressed with them. Tamiya paints also used Thanks for looking and Happy Modelling

  8. Been a while since posting on here, finished a couple and started a few since. One that crossed the finish line was the L-39 from Eduard... From this kit (they reboxed the hell out of it) enough waffle, here's some beauty shots... In place of a series of photos of the build, I opted to just make a video of the full build process, owing to Pinterests horrific upload system. Hope you enjoy! (Also more stills at the end of the vid) Cheers!

  10. Hi! This is the current Breitling scheme.. same eduard kit and also same problems as the blue one had (posted before). Decals are Kopro as well, and it was painted with humbrol enamels. Orlando.
  11. Hi guys, This is my 12th aircraft in my "aerobatic teams" collection, and the first kit of the year for me. It was very difficult to build, horrible fit, some mini bubbles on canopy and a really bad plastic, but with lovely recessed panel lines though. This eduard was no so good build experience and i do not recommend this kit for beginners. i just added some scratch antennas here and there. The blue is enamel humbrol 14 and it was decorated with KOPRO decals. Orlando.
  12. Photo Etch detail sets for Eduard L-39 Kit 1:72 Eduard The L-39 from Eduard is a great little kit, and now re-released in a weekend edition. There is a weekend set with a colour Self adhesive fret, and a normal brass fret, A set of super fabric seat belts, and a set of masks. L-39 For Eduard Kit 1:72 Eduard The kit's interior is pretty good, but Eduard have still managed to cook up a few extras with this pre-painted fret of parts. Included are a new multi-layered instrument panel, side consoles, seat belts, engine fan front, landing gear parts, and vebts for the gun pack. L-39 Super Fabric Seat Belts 1:72 Eduard If you don't want to buy the interior set but still want to jazz the seats up then these are just the job. L-39 For the Eduard kit Pre-Cut Masks 1:72 Eduard In keeping with their other pre-cut mask sets, this set contains masks for all of the transparent parts, as well as the main landing gear wheels. They are a great time (and stress) saver. Conclusion The re-release of the L-39 in a weekend kit is welcome. There are areas where the aftermarket can help with more refined parts than can be made in plastic and help to finish a model to a high standard. Recommended. Review samples courtesy of
  13. L-39ZA Albatros Weekend Edition 1:72 Eduard First flown in 1968, the Aero L-39 Albatros was the principle fast jet trainer of the Warsaw Pact. Designed and manufactured by Aero Vodochody of the Czech Republic, the L-39 is a straightforward, versatile and cost effective aircraft. Unsurprisingly, the L-39 has been a considerable success on the real export market. It has achieved significant sales in Africa, the Middle East and Asia and has become one of the most successful jet trainers in the world. The L-39 is powered by a variant of the Ivchyenko AI-25TL non-afterburning turbofan engine also used in the Yakovlev Yak 40 regional passenger jet. Capable of producing 3792lb of thrust, the engine gives the aircraft a maximum speed of 466mph. The L-39CZA is an upgraded version specifically for armed training and the light attack role. For this it has strengthened under carriage and the ability to carry a 1,290 kg (2,844 lb payload. Another noticeable difference is the addition of the a GSh-23L 23-millimetre twin-barrelled cannon attached in a conformal pod under the cockpit, having a 150-round magazine. Although Eduards L-39 has been around for a while now, its still a very good kit and its always nice to see it available again, particularly so on this occasion as its part of Eduards budget weekend edition range. Inside the fairly spacious end-opening box are two large sprues of olivey-beigey coloured plastic, a single sprue of clear plastic, an instruction book and decals. The kit is made up of 63 parts, which is a fair amount for a small, simple jet aircraft like the Albatros. The mouldings are clean and crisp and there is no flash present on the parts. Surface detail is comprised of fine, engraved panel lines and recessed fasteners. The main thing to watch out for is the location of some of the sprue attachment points. Here and there, particularly around the leading edges of the wings and the fin, they intrude into the parts themselves. I would therefore recommend cutting these parts away from the sprue carefully and cleaning them up prior to assembly. The cockpit is nicely detailed and compares well to other similar kits in this scale. It is comprised of a tub with side consoles moulded in place, a rear bulkhead and a pair each of instrument panels, coamings, control columns and of course the VS-2R ejection seats. The instrument panels and side consoles are covered in fine, raised detail, which should look good under a coat of paint. Decals are provided if youd rather use them, but even if you dont its always nice to have the option. The ejections seats are pretty nicely detailed, and each is made up of no fewer than 5 parts. With cockpit complete, you just have to add the rather nice engine compressor face and exhaust nozzle before you can join the fuselage halves. Once this has been done, the rest of the model should be fairly quick to assemble. Unusually, both upper and lower wing halves are moulded as single spans, so theres no need to worry about alignment and dihedral. Youll need to drill out the pre-marked holes on the inside of the lower wing half if you want to use any of the supplied ordnance, although none of it bar the drop tanks will be required for the aircraft depicted on the decal sheet. The port and starboard horizontal tail surfaces are moulded as solid parts and control surfaces are all moulded in place. Theres no need to worry about detailing the undercarriage bays either. This is because the L-39s undercarriage doors automatically retract once the undercarriage has been deployed and, as they are rarely seen open on parked aircraft, Eduard have moulded them all in the closed position. The engine intakes have separate boundary layer splitter plates though, so this kit does have some nice touches where it counts. A decent selection of ordnance is provided, including two drop tanks, two small bombs (which look like KP-100 concrete practice bombs and the conformal gun pack that fits under the cockpit just aft of the nose gear. As mentioned above, only the drop tanks are used for the aircraft depicted on the decal sheet. The landing gear itself is quite nicely detailed, although it is quite spindly so be careful not to damage it during construction. The canopy is provided in three separate parts and can be posed in the open position if desired. As seems to be the norm now for its weekend kits (and its welcome) Eduard have provided two decal options for the kit; 1st Tiger Squadron 11th Fighter Regiment, Czechoslovak Air Force, Zatec Air Base, 1991 618th Advanced Traning Squadron, Algerian Air Force, Tafraoui Air Base. Conclusion This is a really nice kit of an interesting aircraft. The overall quality of the kit is very good and it seems to offer a good blend of detail and ease of assembly. Its good that this kit has been re-issued, and with a couple of good decal options. Recommended. Review sample courtesy of
  14. Hi all. This time I bring You an uniqe topic. This is an armed trainer, manufactured in Checkslovakia and flown by the SyAAF (syrian airforce, loyalists) on several antiterrorist missions. Looking for setisfying pictures took weeks, but I say it was worthy. In the meanwhile I also bought a pair of Pavla's bang seats. The pictures I found were taken in August of 2012, over the city of Aleppo. I choose the nr. 2136 The kit: The kit itself was a litle bit of disapointment. Reading the brand name Eduard whispers me I have a super-hitech something. Well, not. In general the detais are ok. Actualy I think to not giving wheel wells is a marker of miserliness. But the real problems came at fitting, and on the surface of the moulds -> burrs, penetration (is it the good word for?) and "cellulite". Well, okay, they give us express mask. And at least it is size and shape correct. By the way, still much better, than the KoPro's kit. The construction: I made in the orthodox way, cockpit first, glue together the fusalage halves and so on. I used Humbroll and Revell enamel paints, useing syirian made photos as references. Watcing the photoes I realised thet the camo colours seems to the Hungarian camo's used on MiG-21 -23, L-39 and Mi-8 -17, so I had a basic to start from. UB 16 rocket blocks from KoPro Mi-4, pitut tube are injection needles, static dischargers, aerials, brake pipes are from wires. The decals were setting well but I used Gunze Mr. Decal Softer just to make sure... Coated with Gunze acrillic. This is the containment of the box. This pic actually made not by me, the first one found is attached. Sry guyz, I'm lazy. The very beginnings: (Yes, the following pictures made by me and shows the modell made by myself. ) Example for celluliot: and for sinkmaks: Minor paintings: And surprise! Pavla seats didnt fit! Ok, it was solved quickly by a saw... The following problem, a nice step: And need for filler: Miscs. are painted: Ready for paint: Belly: Preshadeing: Almost done: Applying the decals. Note: the black stipes are sprayed and the arabic numbers are handpainted. Finished: And special thanks for an other Hungarian scale modeller, Yso, for drawing the painting legend in CAD after the photos.
