  1. Hi Pals, I finish the model and here are some photos of it. To say that it was a quality and well finished kit, without major problems that any modeller with some experience knows how to solve satisfactorily. Added to that is a model that, by not having interiors, and with clean and simple lines, helps a lot with its assembly. It's practically OOB, with the exceptions of the added Zimmerit (Tamiya stickers), the ABER metal antenna, and an MG34 machine gun, from the spare parts box and the metal front MG as well. The Zimmerit, not being from the MENG brand, could be a serious problem, but, surprisingly, the dimensions of the two kits (Tamiya and MENG) must be very similar, because there were no major mismatches, everything was quite well adjusted. In the instructions, they indicated that it had to be placed before the accessories, but I didn't see it, and I did it the other way around...maybe it was more difficult, but with a cutter, I was able to cut off excess. In some places I used CA glue to avoid peeling later. Note that the front and rear hooks, as links, should not be placed without having joined the hull pieces, because otherwise they cannot be joined. In my case, I put them in to prevent them from getting lost, since they don't come with glue, so I had to do a bit of thankless work to fix it. The tracks turned out to be simple, since the pieces are a good size, and their fit is also very good, and the kit also includes some jigs to help you assemble them. The PEs are few and easy to work on (I love it...lol). I didn't really like the paint schemes proposed by the kit, and although I did tests, in the end, I decided to clean it (several times), and make a model with the basic color, and with little use, without marks. For the painting I used the AK DK set, with AB, modulating Vallejo MA Red Primer layer, and for the weathering, 501 oils and various pigments. Small leaves added at random points on the model, fixed with matte varnish. I have only varnished with satin, the parts that do not wear Zimmerit, I imagine it would be more matte than glossy, and neither the parts that accumulate dust. Thank you very much for watching and commenting as always. Greetings and Happy New Year 2024.🎄 Francis.👍 Some shots on detail... A couple in B/W... The (hypothetical) historical photo... And a few with his brother Henschel (Zvezda posted on the forum): https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235094156-all-the-beasts-hail-to-the-kingtiger-kintiger-henschel-turret-135-zvezda/#comment-4095968
  2. Hi Pals, a new kit for assembly. The one chosen this time is another queen of the stash, a KT but with a Porsche turret, from the MENG brand, one gets used to the good, and the previous CHARC C2 was a joy, if there were mistakes, they were on my part. I already have a KT but with a Henschel (Zvezda) turret, so it will be a good example to compare models. It seems like another kit with not too many unnecessary parts (more tiny parts don't make it a better kit...at least it's my modest opinion), and with some very cool goodies, like the metal cannon, and the jigs to assemble the tracks properly, Although with the size they have, they do not seem difficult to manipulate. What I dislike somewhat are the camos they offer for the model, which do not appeal to me at all, one of the reasons why I have been putting this kit aside. But when I get to that river, I'll cross that bridge... The idea is to make it as OOB as possible, but this time I wanted something with Zimmerit, and I had a set from a long time ago from Tamiya for KT Porsche. The MENG one did not have stock where I bought it for now, so it should work, it will probably be a little more difficult than it should be, but it will be a good comparison test for dimensions with both brands. This is my first time using one of these, I hope I don't ruin it...😁. Until the first update. Thanks for watching and commenting as always. Cheers Francis.👍
  3. A bit of stamina required to finish this kit....five weeks into the build. Zimmerit was tricky with the supplied scrape style tool which I combined with vallejo putty. Lucky to purchase this kit off a fellow modeller for a very reasonable pirce....there are a lot of parts and box is like a mini suitcase. I absolutely love Trumpeter kits, a huge fan!
  4. Tiger II / Kingtiger"World of Tanks" (03503) 1/72 Carrera Revell The King Tiger, Königstiger, Sd.Kfz.182 or Tiger II was the natural successor to the widely feared Tiger that preceded it, although it was dogged by mechanical problems due to the re-use of the Tiger's transmission on an overloaded engine that was tasked with pulling around a significantly increased weight. It incorporated many advances in technology, drawing together the best features of the Tiger and Panther, and carrying a long-barrelled 88mm gun that was without peer at the time. Weighing in at 70 tonnes, it was well protected from incoming fire with the sloped armour increasing the effective thickness even further, as well as encouraging shells to ricochet off. Initial production used a prototype turret design with a curve in the side to accommodate the commander's cupola, which was difficult and expensive to produce, but as they had made a number, they were used anyway. The later turret that stayed until the end of production was simplified, and had more flat surfaces, making it easier to produce, and removing the shot-trap that was present on the early curved mantlet. The B variant was the command tank, and sported a pair of aerials on the turret and engine deck, of which there were two sub-variants. As well as being dogged by mechanical problems, production was also severely hampered by the actions of Bomber Command by night, and the US Day Bombing efforts, which destroyed large swathes of the production plants, severely restricting the number of contracted units that were actually delivered. It is estimated that some 500± were built before the end of the war, but as is often the case, figures are sketchy because of the chaos that reigned toward the end of the Nazi regime. World Of Tanks is a popular online Game developed by Belarusian company Wargaming, featuring 20th century era combat vehicles. It is built upon a freemium business model where the game is free-to-play, but participants also have the option of paying a fee for use of "premium" features. The focus is on player vs. player gameplay with each player controlling an armored vehicle, from the time of Pre-World War 2, to the Cold War-era. This is mainly online with PCs, but is now available on other platforms as well. The Kit Here Revell have re-boxed their own kit from 2002. Inside the compact end-opening box are five sprues of grey plastic and decals. The sprues are well laid out and the mouldings are free from flash. Surface detail is clean and crisp, and first impressions are very favourable.. Revell have obviously released this kit in conjunction with World Of Tanks. Inside each kit there is also a set of Special Bonus & Starter Pack codes for the game. Construction starts with the running gear on each side. 18 sets of wheels, 2 sets of drive sprockets, and two idler wheels are built up. These are attached to the side plates and then the link and length tracks are added. The track/wheel assemblies are then attached to the lower hull, the upper hull is added along with the rear bulkhead. The track side guards then go on. At the rear the exhausts are fitted along with filters on the engine deck, and rear towing shackles. At the front the bow machine gun is added along with the headlight. To the hull sides pioneer tools and tow cables go on along with the starting handle. Now the hull is complete we move to the turret. The main part of the turret adds to the base with the inside part of the main gun being trapped between the two. The mantlet, cover and single part main barrel are then added. Turret hatches are added along with additional track links. The last items are the commanders hatch and machine gun, and the turrets rear hatch. The turret can then be added to the hull. Decals There is both a sheet of decals.. As well as national markings for the tank there are a wide range of markings which I suspect are available in the Game to mark your tank. Conclusion This seems to be a good looking small kit and should build up into a good looking model. Revell model kits are available from all good toy and model retailers. 5. Hi Pals, For this occasion, something different, "the opposite side of the cannon", something with a Germanic flavor (more Soviet armor will arrive for lovers of them). It is the Tiger II, perhaps together with the Tiger I, the most iconic armored vehicle in the German arsenal, if not the entire IIWW, IMHO ... To try to represent him, I have assembled and finished the kit offered by Zvezda in its Henschel version. The kit is quite complete, just see the box that contains it, which is immense. I do not remember great difficulties for its assembly, the instructions in general are good and the fit as well. It includes some interior parts in the turret, rather the barrel, but they are very basic, so I have not spent too much time, rather to try to make interiors, for more complex kits than if they include detailed interiors, for later. I have included the tow cables made with twisted copper wire, as the kit includes a thread, very little showy ... A metallic ABER antenna for the end, a spare MG34, a metal frontal machine gun and some helmets. The painting has been a bit challenging, as it is my first tritone camo, and I have tried many tones until I found the one that made me feel most comfortable, so I have had to clean at least 3 times ... a very boring and annoying process ... at least I didn't have to throw it away ... lol Once "the balance" was found, the weathering process began, with oils basically, and acrylics for the chips. A little vegetation in spots and especially on the inner sides, and some mud at the bottom of the hull, nothing too intense. I think the result is very close to what I like to see in other models, only to improve for the next ... Thanks for watch and comment as always. Cheers and TC Francis.😄 BLACK BACKGROUND
  6. A pair of heavy ones. The Esci Jagdtiger and the E-100 from Trumpeter. Thankfully rather handy in 1/72 scale.... Cheers / André
  7. My second colection of german tanks (WWII) And "yes" is shall post it later one by one if you all like... Maybe with a poll??
  8. This is going to be my second build for this GB: I thoroughly enjoyed building Dragon's 1/72, Zimmeritted, Panther and Tiger for the D-Day GB so when I saw this online I figured it it would be great for this GB. As of this post it is the first German armour in this GB. Can't wait to get this one started after next weekend. I will be building this when I'm not at home so, like my recent 1/76 Airfix Tiger 1 and Cromwell builds, it will be made with only very limited equipment available. Kind regards, Stix
  9. Here are some recent photos of my 1/35 KingTiger Build: Very nice kit from Dragon with absolutely loads and loads of parts! + Metal barrel and brass shells Construction is almost complete, painting Detailing and Weathering to follow: Photo-etch grills: Steel Wire: The Track racks are particularly fiddley on the turret sides as there are no marking for attachment, just careful and accurate placement. Only one side complete so far. Some of the sub assemblies - immense detail for some of the parts will not be seen.
