  1. King Of The Night ICM 1:16 (16201) In a departure from the World Guards series in 1:16 ICM bring us The Night King from the highly successful Game Of Thrones TV series, Though it might be called The King Of the Night for licencing rules? The kit comes on one sprue of grey styrene and one of black, with a separate black pedestal. There is a clear part for the Ice Sword. The parts are very well moulded with no sign of flash or other imperfections, and while the build is relatively simple, the painting will be a challenge to get the look right. Being 1:16 scale it’s large enough for the detail to be seen and painted, yet small enough to have a nice collection in a display cabinet. As with the other kits in 1:16 the instructions are not very clear. They consist of a colour drawing of the completed and painted model, with the parts numbered and arrowed. At least ICM have included some detail drawings on the painting guide this time, rather than having to squint and guess. As the kit is fairly straightforward it probably won’t worry the seasoned figure builder, but it might give the beginner some pause for thought. The kit comes with a nicely moulded pedestal with just single option of top. Alternatively the figure can be presented on a plain flat base. Conclusion If you’re a figure modeller then this will be a great way to pass the time. The painting will require a great deal patience to get right. This is really nicely made though and although quite small, and it will look really nice in the display cabinet. Review sample courtesy of
  2. Finally some progress on the huge King Tiger! I started this almost a year ago! But found I was getting too short on time, with commission builds:-( I've restarted it now and i'm going to see though to completion ....somehow. This KT is going to be based on Abt 503 or possibly 101 from France 1944. This will have a Zimmerit finish. Some progress pics below: The hatch mechanisms, although quite a delicate fidel, work quite well when finished. The build quality and fit on this model are very good considering the size of the molds. The 88mm L71: Dry fit to turret base
  3. Thought I'd start the year with a nice big tank, so got going on the newish Academy King Tiger. I'll be using the Eduard etched sets I reviewed HERE and an RB turned barrel, which will require some modification to the kits barrel assembly to fit, but it will be worth it. BTW, if you have this kit pay special attention to the construction of the wheels the rim, inner and outer hubs are all separate and there are specific differences in which rim is assembled with which. I've had to unstick a few and swap the hubs around as I wasn't paying attention.
  4. I dreamed of owning one of the Tamiya 1/16 tanks when i was younger. The King Tiger was the one i wanted. It had a rotating turret and a strobe light in the barrel! Trouble was , it was very expensive , and then there was the radio gear and battery which were also very expensive. I ended up having the Leopard which was the cheapest but very much loved. This is the 1981 version of the KT with the single motor , twin clutch setup. I have not run it and im not sure i will. Its totally new built other than the modern 540 motor. I will be replacing this with the original old one soon. Im also hoping to get period radio gear , battery and maybe a kit box if im lucky. Ive airbrushed it in the ambush style , but i did not really follow a certain tank so its probably not 100% accurate. Well its taken long enough but i have the tank i always wanted and at a very nice price. Right 1/16 Leopard A4 next methinks! Nice shiny new internals
