  1. Collecting various SAR helicopters in 1/72 and have gone from building 1 CH-149 to 2 NAWSARH's! In getting the right parts I've bought 3 kits plus some spare parts to build 2 helo's and I was thinking "what do I do with the leftovers???" Then I had a happy accident. I found a spare radome in my Sea King! Then I thought of this...
  2. I eventually finished this a few months ago but just realised i hadn't posted an RFI. This is the Italeri 1.72 version. The kit is not accurate for a modern version so I attempted to correct and update it. There are numerous mods, some enhance it others are a bit meh, I have worked with these aircraft over the last few years and that spurred me to add as much detail as possible. A list of the main mods are- Complete build of cabin with sound proofing, seating and SAR cabinets New tail rotor Heat blankets Numerous aerials Double rear wheels Modified ramp Modified sponsors Scratch built hoist Scratch built nightsun Aluminium tube exhausts And many more, I'll post a link to the WIP when I find it! Decals are from Belcher Bits and paints as ever are Model Master acrylics. The cockpit framing was done with electrical tape but over time it has slipped and needs redoing. Whaddya think???? And for what it's worth the fully detailed interior. It's there believe me lol! Photos aren't great as they are taken with my phone in a dingy basement. Not my best and it looks a little messy to be honest but glad it's over and does look fine amongst my collection. Cheers now Bob
  3. Hi Pals, I have a "new" kit to mount / share with you, this time it is a SPG ITALERI M-109, a very old kit, but I think you can still get a good result. Personally not that I like a lot (not a tank), but as I had saved for 15 years in a closet, I decided to give it a try. I made one much longer the same, although with long gun, but I did not get a good result, so I ended up with, in the case of spare parts. Now with more enthusiasm, more resources and skill, it is time for a second attempt, proving the G version of "short" cannon, which I like for its powerful appearance while compact, and appears to be less seen ... Without further ado, the show starts ... A few pictures to begin with, fellow Greetings. I include a link to the RFI feature with the model checking if someone wants to see it. This kit brings par to 4 versions (long time ago when I did, I think they were just 3 ...), as I said before'll try with the G, short-barreled. To start, I finished all the undercarriage, and I hit the friontal and rear of the hull, which I have smoothed their unión. Thx for looking and comments...
  4. Hello, I would like to present my latest completion. 1/72nd Italeri Ab212 with whirlybirds "G-BALZ" conversion set. Built as part of the Huey group build but I missed the finishing deadline by a couple of days. WIP can be found here http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235006740-bristow-birds/&page=1 Also, please check out the gallery for an array of excellent Hueys. Presented as G-BALZ as she was around the late 70s early 80s. Operated by Bristows helicopters around the Brent oil field (Stationed on the Safe Gothia, and probably Sumburgh) thanks for looking
  5. Hello modellers, here you are my Fiat CR42. The model represent an aircraft of "412^ Squadriglia" based in Eritrea in 1940. This Italeri kit is not too bad, it goes together pretty well even if needs some special care to fit the upper wing. Model is 99% OOB with just few details added in the cockpit and on the engine. Paints used are Italeri acrylics applied with a 0.2 mm nozzle airbrush covered with a layer of matt Tamiya finish paint. Any comments or suggestion is more than welcome. Enjoy the pictures. Cheers Andy
  6. Hi, For my next project I just wondered if I could get peoples opinion on how best to paint up the alternative scheme on the Italeri 1/72 Jaguar GR1. The art work on the box is as follows: I presume I paint the standard Grey/Green pattern, mask off and spray the flat white, pretty obvious but the question I have is would you apply the decals before the white goes on as the artwork seems to indicate this would be the way to go. Is there anything I need to take into consideration if I do apply decals before the white coat is applied, and can anyone foresee any issues in doing it this way. i was thinking I should maybe apply a couple coats of Klear after decals and before the flat white, do you think this is advisable? Thanks in advance! Mark
  7. So, whilst waiting for the clear coat on my Tamiya Opel Blitz built to cure I decided to 'look' at this kit in my stash. Sprues look ok, reasonably detailed You'll note there are spaces where parts used to be.. quite a few spaces Vinyl tracks always make me nervous An extensive decal sheet And after a couple of hours or so of 'looking' I found myself with this... The instructions have you remove 2 triangular moulded relief details but this also removes some bolt head detail. I replaced the bolt heads with flat slivers of appropriately sized plastic rod. Wheels in progress I've got to this stage in the instructions except for the road wheels which will be added much later So that's it so far on the build I didn't intend to do yet
  8. Hello This is my first post on this forum. I want to present some pictures of one of my my first models. This is the Freightliner version Dump produced by Italeri 1:24. Model finished in 2015. I added a little more detail to the engine (wires etc.) Enjoy the photos. Cheers Mike
  9. Hi folks, last week while binning some old boxes and a couple of kits beyond saving I actually had this hovering over the bin with the airframe primed minus all the rest of the pieces.I bought it last year for pennies just for the scheme but lost interest as I hated the canopy. So I thought have a laugh and using the Maskol technique I have done on a couple of kits see what I could do to represent the effects of the Hot African sun if it did,nt work nothing lost just a couple of hours and a pot of paint. So here,s the finished kit which I am glad I saved, the canopy was nowhere as bad as I thought although the kit is apparently full of errors not sure with having the loop antenna it should have the wire as well but either are easily removed if wrong.I am now trying this method on a Korean war Corsair. Thanks for your time.
  10. We have just received four new kits that have been highly anticipated. From Italeri comes the 1/24 Ford Transit Van and 1/24 Maritime DAF XF 105 Truck, while Tamiya brings us the superb new 1/48 F-14A Tomcat and 1/100 FDA Embraer 175 Airliner. https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/blog/article/new-italeri-tamiya-oct-2016/
  11. Bit late in starting but as i dont take long on models It will be finished well before the deadline. Griffon HT1 of the helicopter school using the Italeri kit with no aftermarket (except MAYBE the decals) I will use Revell decals for the most partput anything up on the site and had nearly finishe So on with the show. I suddenly realised that I had not put up anything on the forum and had fished the cabin. Those who have seen my builds before know that I do tend to get on with it and am not too fusy about the accuracy of the kit unless it is glaring I leave it as it came in the box. First pic is picture of the box (duh) There is enough of the basic 2 blader being build so the spure only shows the Griffon bits Decals x2 will be using bits from both Sorry no cabin being built pics but got carried away. I used a modeldecal wessex instrument panal cut down for the instruments I think it looks better and under the glass its very hard to see properly anyway. From another angle Rodders
  12. Following on from my 1/72 scale WW1 fighters, I decided to up the scale a little with this kit that I found for £12.50. Hope you like it, still learning but starting to get a little better.
  13. Hi all and here's my latest finish, the Vietnam workhorse that was the Huey, built for the Huey GB here on Britmodeller. You can read the WIP here but to recap: UH-1D Slick 116th Assault Helicopter Company - "The Hornets" 1965-1971 Kit: Italeri 1247 UH-1D Iroquois Scale: 1/72 Paints: Revell acrylics, brush painted. Future, Flory Models Wash Decals: Kit Extras: Scratchbuilt door guns mounts; M-60s from spares box. Engine mesh from teabag (!) seat belts from masking tape Thanks for looking and all comments welcomed! Cheers, Dermot
  14. So resurrecting this one from the back of the bench for this GB...a Vietnam era UH-1D in 'Slick' set up. Had got some small work started on it for last year's Vietnam GB but nothing over the 25% rule - will post some more pics tonight. I've scrounged some M-60s from a Blackhawk in the stash so they will be added to the build. Thanks for looking and here's to a whop-whopping good GB! All the best, Dermot
  15. Italeri have a number of great new model kits available to order now, including a 1/24 Ford Transit Mk.2 and the DAF XF105 Truck with "Maritime Logistics" livery. Also of particular note comes the re-release of Italeri's 1/72 B-52G Stratofortress. Place your orders soon to avoid disappointment. You can also have a look at our whole Italeri Model Kits Range on our website. https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/blog/article/new-italeri-oct-2016/
  16. Hello everyone, I started this one in a rush hoping to get it in the blitzbuild page but I didn't realize it was over. This is from an Italeri and my fifth Italeri at that. All previous Italeris have disappointed me one way or another and this kit is no different. Indeed it's the straw that broke the camel's neck. Not a single more Italeri for me, thank you. Seat was connected to the sprue in the most unnecessarily inconvenient way. The shape was also "bad". Ultra simplistic cockpit, and Italeri never bothers making gauge decals. It expect more precision from us by painting the gauges while it's kits lack precision. Gathering together all the pieces that will go the same color. I diligently painted in grey all parts to be painted in grey according to the manual. If they bothered indicating what goes in grey, why did they miss this out? To bother us, instead? That was pretty much it. What nonesense. Maybe I put the panel wrong . Maybe it was supposed to go a little back, but the detail lacking manual and all the rest of indications made it seem that the panel goes there, Was I right about the panel? I thnk so. But Italeri was wrong somewhere in the placement of the control stick. Had the same problem with another Italeri and hated it. Besides being wholly inaccurate because the Eurocopter Tiger does not have "just a whole" on the sides as you can see here, they could have bothered asking us to paint the inside in black so it wouldn't look this bad. Do something Italeri! I put that round thing confidently where it goes thanks to the indication on the plastic. Is this a ******* joke Italeri? Only the antennas had indications as to where they go. But just the indication. Nothing to help you secure them in place while the cement dries, nothing. The handles were all guess work, to be placed on smooth plastic. The horizontal stabilizer was really fun. Minimum indication and no creativity from the maker to make sure the modeler knows when he's doing it right. The little pin heads (whatever you call them)... too long for the holes the go into. After the first coat of paint. It's too bad that Italeri is so bad at this because I finding another maker that makes models like these is not easy. Hasegawa and Fujimi, the big and high quality made in Japan companies only seem to make mainstream jets and they hardly have a selection of helicopters. It is as if one has to do whatever the quality companies produce in order to have a pleasant time building the models.
  17. Continuing my mojo relieving builds I have recently completed the Italeri 1:35 PT-109, just added the Italeri crew set to the standard kit. Had a few problems with the paint bubbling in areas, but I'm quite pleased with the end result. The kit was reviewed way back in 2013, HERE, better late than never.
  18. This is a sweet kit from italeri though with a very bland cockpit which I left as it is , another issue was the panel lines in many places is vague . I weathered is just slightly with a very light panel line wash and limited post shading . I true to my nature bungled up the satin coat but overall I am quite glad with how this model of a remarkable , iconic airplane turned out Cheers
  19. Hello again, I'd like to participate with this other Huey I'm making. Being an Italeri, my expectations weren't too high (my expectations from my own skills aren't high either). But... Good things of the kit The clear parts were thick and shiny enough not to need polishing. Clears parts fitted perfectly except for a few inconsecuential gaps. The main halves of the fuselage fitted perfectly, along with all major parts. Bad things: Having the doors closed would've required too much work, unnecessarily. A lot of guesswork to fit the rocket launchers. Exhaust piece was a total nightmare because it didn't have anywhere to hold to if you wanted it in the correct position. The building manual was WRONG in the installation of the control stick and I had glued them with CA. So anybody else who has built or who's building a 1/72 Italeri UH-1 single engine Iroquois, could you please drop a line saying if you had the same problems as I did? Anywho, onto the WIP: Front of box exclusive for Japanese market. Sprue shot My philosophy is to glue first, then paint bcz 1) glue doesn't work well with paint; 2) touching/holding painted parts is bad for the paint; 3) you'll need to repaint them anyway. Doing other stuff while the grey paint dries... Note how the grip of the control sticks fold forward, just as the manual suggests. But the manual was wrong and I wan't happy about that. Consequently, a less than desirable look to the base of the control stick. An example of how well the clear parts fit. So far so good. This was after a lot of headaches with installing the rocket launchers and the exhaust pipe, that I had to fix after taking this photo. I would've liked to finish it today but I'm tired of the problems it gave me and wanna take a break, watch a movie with helicopters or something : P And I know what you're about to say, there's blitzbuild GB and yes, I'm on my way there, too!
  20. Well it's finished(!) one Jaguar GR.1 by Italeri in 1/72 scale with Pavla cockpit and ejection seat. Minor modifications made from bored out rear vents to custom nose cone using clear plastic. Primed with Humbrol acrylic grey undercoat from a spray can, followed by Tamiya paints, Humbrol Clear and Vallejo Matt Varnish after decals and weathering (oil paint wash with turp substitute). WIP here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235007242-jaguar-gr1-172-italeri-operation-granby/#entry2466792 Comments welcome as always and I hope you enjoy the pictures. James
  21. Hi Pals, I have a new kit to mount / share with you, this time it is an M-47 Patton, a very old kit, but I think you can still get a good result from it. Patton personally is not that I like (the M48, and then the M-60), but as I have for 15 years stored in a closet, I decided to give it a try. Much longer did one like it, but did not get a good result, so I ended up in the tool box. Now with more enthusiasm, more resources and skill, it's time for a second attempt. Without further ado, the show starts ... lol. A few pictures for beginnig, cheers mates Here below a link to the RFI section http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235007992-the-olde-general-m-47-patton-135-italeri-finished/
  22. I'm struggling to find the time to do any modelling at the moment, but I do find it a good way to de-stress in the evening, so this has been a quick "out the box" build of a reasonable modern kit to reflect one of my favourites from this year's Fairford Airshow. It's the Italeri 1/72 MiG 29 in its current issue, with some excellent Polish Air Force decals. Apart from a little filler on fuselage and wing joints, plus a need to tidy up the intakes, I found this an easy build, although the commemorative markings on the fins and spine seem to be in the wrong colours - if I had had a little more time I would have applied a light grey wash/filter over them. Although Italeri neglect to tell you, the image on the tail of this MiG is that of Polish pilot Eugeniusz Horbaczewski, the third highest scoring Polish fighter ace of WW2, with 16.5 confirmed kills (16 individual and one shared) and one probable kill. 23. Italeri has just announced a 1/48th AMX fighter-bomber kit - ref. 2753S Source: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234975536-italeri-2015/?p=1878232 A rebox from the future Kinetic kit (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234964446-amx-1m-kinetic-148/)? Otherwise we are waiting another AMX family by Hobby Boss (http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234972802-148-amx-a-1ata-1b-by-hobby-boss-in-20152016/). V.P.
  24.
