Intended for the Starfighter STGB but finished a few days past deadline - build here An old mould Hasegawa F-104J which started out as a build in Japanese colours with some scratch building in the cockpit and wheel wells. Unfortunately the near 40 year old decals fell to pieces (I know. Foolish of me to think they’d do otherwise). Kit was halfway toward the shelf of doom (or the bin) when I decided to see what I could do from spare bits and bobs of decals. Eduard's boxing of the Hasegawa Hawker Typhoon, with Resin 4 blade prop, and elevators. Painted with Tamiya acrylics throughout, weathered lightly with some oils and pastels. Lost one rocket, so it's being re-armed 🙂 Peter

Nice kit (Hasegawa, first one I've made and most impressed), IsraCast conversion a bit woolly and indistinct but nice PE, decals were excellent. To see the fun build thread, click HERE Weapons from Hasegawa Weapons set and the Python AAMs were from Paragon. Used Xtracolour and WEM enamels. The Xtracolour Sky/Green was a bit indistinct so probably should've given it another coat, but to be honest I couldn't wait another week or so for the Xtracolour to dry! Weathered with Flory wash and finished with Testor's Dullcote. No other weathering as in all the photos of these planes they look neat as a pin. Clearly, a lot of pride and a budget to match in the IAF! Decided to build it in flight as these machines look about as mean as fighter jets get! Tried to do it justice, but there's a lot I could've done better if I'd taken a bit more time. Thanks for looking, Al

Hi! Two aircrafts I never built is the F-102 Delta Dagger and F-106 Delta Dart. And the main reason is that they are rare. The only ones I knew about in 1/72 in the past are the Hasegawa kits. Of course both Trumpeter and Meng has showed up with new kits. But if they where made of Revell, Monogram or even Airfix I would probably built one or two as the Dagger and the Dart are very impressive aircrafts with an interesting history. Yesterday I finaly got one, a Delta Dart as a gift from an friend. And opening the box I got an second surprise. Gosh, it is really an BIG aircraft. I always had an idea that the F-102 and the F-106 was something like the Mirage III and F-6 Skylancer. But in the box was something bigger than an F-4 Phantom. I had to check twice that it wasn't an 1/48 scale kit! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-00373-f-106a-delta-dart-159th-fighter-interceptor-squadron--282168 As it is an 1/72 kit that comes in a box that usually has aircrafts like the F-11F Tiger there isn't much space left. It also comes with some nice decals for two aircrafts. One from the 159th FIS and one from the 318th FIS and with that the big problem comes up. Both are painted in ADC Grey... So what can one do to solve this? Are there any Tamiya or Humbrol paint out there that is close to what ADC Grey is? Maybe in an lighter shade but bluegrey, not green or browngrey. What I knew the Humbrol and Xtracolor paint isn't available. I also noticed that the weapon bay and landing gear bays are to be painted interior green. Is that correct for the Delta Dart? Last week I managed to finish this Hasegawa TA-4F Skyhawk in adversary markings. It is one of several adversary Skyhawks I have built, and I started it more than five years ago. It was a straight forward build but it just got sidetracked by lots of other models. I sprayed it freehand with Xtracolor enamels and used Fightertown decals for the markings. This took nearly a year but mostly because it was stuck on the shelf of doom. It went together without issue, the kit is great I just found painting it a bit dull, especially the white. Also regretting putting in Eduard photoetch cockpit bits - totally invisible now I'm not calling it quite done but its done enough - I might go back add some more weathering My favourite box art of any kit in the stash though, love it! Started over the long weekend - the Eduard rebox or the Hasegawa Typhoon 1B with lots of etch Work commences with replacing most of the plastic cockpit with Etch :-) Peter

Hello all, Here is my recently completed 1/48 Hasegawa EA-18G 'Growler' in the markings of VAQ-132 'Scorpions' during operation 'Odyssey Dawn' over Libya in 2011. The build thread as part of 'The Specialists' Group Build is here Extras used included a Wolfpack Designs cockpit set, Steel Beach FOD covers, Eduard canopy mirrors, AGM-88s HARMs from a Tamiya F-16 and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles from an Academy F-15. The model was painted using Mr Paint Lacquers and sealed with Mr Paint's varnish. Fantastic stuff. Weathering added using home made washes in random areas as per images of Super Hornets/Growlers when deployed. Thanks for looking. Dave

This is the Hasegawa kit, from the late 80's i think of an unusual NASA prototype. There wasn't many parts so most of the assembly was just a few hours, and hardly any filler at all.

Hello all, Missed this group build so a later entry from me; Hasegawa's 1/48 EA-18G Growler in the markings of VAQ-132 'Scorpions' during Operation 'Odyssey Dawn' over Libya in 2011. Finished towards the end of 2018, this was a kit that I'd had in my stash for close to 10 years. Had held off on building it telling myself "one day, when I get better at this hobby and won't make a mess of it". Finally got tired of waiting and just bit the bullet. As I recall, the build was relatively trouble-free and I really enjoyed seeing it come together. I built the Austrian Air Force scheme because it was the only one available from the box, I did not manage to source alternative decals in time. Since then I've managed to get my hands on the more recent boxing by Hasegawa, this time with Swedish markings - can't wait to build and paint that one! This is a completely OOB build, weathering was kept subtle as I read somewhere that the Austrians kept their jets pretty clean. As always, thanks for looking

Here's my just finished 1/48 Hasegawa A-4N finished as N432FS, used by BAE Systems Flight Systems on a target towing contract for the Luftwaffe. Build thread is here. The kit is the A-4KU boxing, the extended tailpipe is from Quickboost, and I also used a Quickboost seat and an Eduard zoom set in the cockpit. Decals are from Two Bobs. Nobody seems to produce the RM30 target towing equipment so I scratch built mine. I found some of the manufacturer's promotional material online, which helpfully included a scale drawing, although I had to estimate the dimensions of the target. The body of the RM30 started life as a drop tank from an Eduard 1/48 MiG-21, and the front end is part of a JT3D engine from a Minicraft 1/144 DC-8. The target started out as one of the missiles in the Eduard MiG-21 and the side pylon was one of the MiG-21's pylons. Never tried scratch building like this before, really enjoyed it - I'll be doing it again. thanks for looking Julian

Hello modellers. My last model is done. Modest model and some hard work in the fittings parts. An old traditional Hasegawa 1/72 model. I used Eduard photo etch interior and masks. Tamiya acrilic mixes. I choose JE+HK 2/KG.6 version, found in Melsbroek, Belgium1944. I hope you enjoy it. Cheers!

Hi Guys, I just finished my Hasegawa 1/48 Fw190 A4, with the markings belonging to Hannes Trautloft, Kommodore JG54, Russia, at the beginning of 1943. It was built in parallel with an old-tooled Eduard Fw190A5, which is still in progress at this time. Anyway, I'm happy that I finished one of them and I hope you will like it. My second build in this GB will be a Skyhawk. What's a Skyhawk doing in the trainers group build I hear you ask? Well it qualifies if it's a target tug! This will be an ex-Israeli A-4N now operated by BAE Systems Flight Systems at Wittmund on a target towing contract for the Luftwaffe. I bought a Two Bobs sheet for these Skyhawks in 1/48 ages ago and have been looking out for a suitable kit ever since. The 1/48 Hasegawa A-4N popped up online from time to time but always at silly prices. Then last week I found the Brazilian A-4KU boxing - which contains identical plastic, except it doesn't have the extended tailpipe of the A-4N - at a reasonable price and snapped it up. Itching to build it, I looked at my modelling plans which this year are based on the group build schedule. The only one it might have fit in was the year I was born - there was a chance these airframes were built in 1973 - but no luck, I'm a year out! Then it dawned on me - they're target tugs, so they fit the trainers GB! I've ordered some Eduard PE for the interior and to dress up the ejection seat, and a Quickboost tailpipe to convert it to the A-4N, so this is just a placeholder for now. But once all that stuff turns up I'll get cracking.

This is my Lockheed AP-2H Neptune using the Hasegawa P2V-7 kit and the Blackbird conversion set and decals. The AP-2H's were 4 P-2H (P2V-7) Neptunes converted to a Gunship configuration and used in Viet Nam. They were equipped with a Forward Looking IR (FLIR)sensor and Low Light TV (LLTV) in a pod in the nose, replacement radar, tail turret, fuselage mounted grenade launchers, downwards firing wing mounted miniguns and Side Looking Airborne Radar (SLAR). Bombs and napalm could also be carried on under wing pylons. In addition both the piston and jet engines where equipped with sound dampeners. They were then painted with a 3 color gray camouflage. While there is at least one of these on display much of the special equipment such as the SLAR, sound dampers and armament was removed when they were when they were withdrawn from Viet Nam so, good photographic documentation is almost none existent. The Hasegawa kit is old and shows its age with raised panel lines, flash, and a bare cockpit but, it went together well. I used a combination of the Pavla resin interior overlayed with the Eduard etched brass that I think came out well. One comment is that the Pavla set includes 2 nicely cast seats for the pilot and copilot but, it does not have one for the observer in the nose. So I had to use the kit one spruced up with the Eduard seat belts. The Blackbird resin and decals were excellent, but both instructions were very lacking. The sound dampers were included but there were no instructions on mounting or coloring, and the some total of the decal instruction was a small left side profile. I assume this is because of the above mentioned lack of photos, but some commentary would have been helpful. Also the decals are missing the prop warning stripe and the jet intake warning chevron. I am guessing this is because there was no room on the sheet for them. Both of these are different then the normal red stripes and chevron that are solid red lines. These should be thin parallel lines with a space between them. I cheated and used a solid line for the prop warning, but punted on the jet intake warning. So on to the pictures. So I made some mods; Uncovered the cheek windows, repainted the SLAR and jet engine sound dampers and added some Mk 82 bombs I still have 2 more Neptunes that I plan on building: an OOB P2V-7 and a P2V-5 with the Blackbird conversion, but these will have to wait since next up is the Mach 2 (arrg) Ryan X-13 Verijet.
