  1. Most likely now the last Emil by my dad for now 😄 Eduard kit with decals from the Hasegawa kit. DSC_0004 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr DSC_0005 by grimreaper110, auf Flickr
  2. This is a 1/72 Hasegawa Hornet TF-18A that I picked up pretty cheap on ebay. Not too impressed with the general lack of detail and moulding but I think it is an older kit maybe? The kit decals looked like they have been soaked and left to dry, so were cracked and pretty unusable in the main. I managed to rescue the tail codes luckily and had a spare set from a Revell Super Hornet thankfully that made up the rest. Paint is Mig Ammo and the base is yet again a sheet of 2500 grade wet n dry paper mounted on beech block (Kitchen drawer front!), painted to resemble a carrier deck (if you squint slightly and close one eye!). Apologies to Coastal Kits for copying their carrier deck design All comments welcome
  3. I loved building this as part of my model clubs group build: T101 (101 years of Tangmere Airfield). XV408 is currently resident at Tangmere Military Aircraft Museum, which is home to my club: Tangmere Sector Modellers IPMS. It is being lovingly restored to its most famous 'blue' scheme that 92Sqn had done in homage to the blue Hunters that the Squadron used for their display team. This is the Hasegawa 'blue special' kit with Aires resin cockpit, Radar, electronics bay, allycat seamless intakes, scratch built parachute compartment (and other bits). Painted with Vallejo Model Air insignia blue. 101 will be at Scale Model World, so please come and see us.
  4. Hasegawa's 1/72 scale F-4C/D kit, built SFB as F-4C 63-7618 of 57 FIS out of Keflavik, Iceland at the 1976 William Tell Gunnery Competition held at Tyndall AFB in Florida, USA
  5. I wanted to join but time is short, and I'm still manfully working my way through a pair of challenging TT builds in the trainers QGB, a Pavla Martinet and a fairly elderly Special Hobby Vengeance. We're also away for 10 days for a family wedding so my bench time is limited in the coming weeks. So if permissible this Fleet Air Arm sub hunter and killer from Hasegawa should be a relatively straightforward and trouble free build compared to my recent builds. And is all in one colour. Five nicely moulded grey sprues, not extensively detailed but not at all bad. And one small mall sprue with the radar on it. I've so got a masking set in the stash from Eduard. All the glazing on a single, quite large sprue. And a white metal arrestor hook. Good idea as shouldn't break when handled. Typical Hasegawa instructions, simple breakdown of parts, logical build sequence and no obvious pitfalls. Hopefully the fit will be exemplary. with options for one Suez aircraft from HMS Bulwark. The transfers have yellowed so they'll have to go on the front window sill for a few weeks. If they don't bleach out the actual markings not the Musketeer stripes are pretty straightforward and I should be able to sort something out Now to get some paint on.
  6. Hi, I'm going in with Hasegawa 1/72 F-104 Starfighter. Like I mentioned in the GB Chat, this is not a favorite aircraft for me. And other modeller friends of mine would just giving me weird looks for saying that... So probably this built will make me 'love' it more This was the start, around a week ago before I pack it and depart with me for my workplace. Paint all the cockpit area with Mr.Color H370 as per instructions sheet Didn't have the mood to post, or start the build until 2 days ago and able to paint and built the cockpit, scratch a simple throttle, paint it, followed with wash and drybrushed both using tamiya enamel. 2 fishing ballast glued with epoxy resin is enough right? So... To build the CAF version, Hasegawa instructed to cut off 2 of the 3 blade antenna on front of the nose landing gear well. But, seeing the fitting between the halves (and the CAF sure have a shiny Starfighter...which means smooth surface). I planned to cut all of the antenna for ease of sanding later and re-attach it near the end of the build. Any idea... Or pointers maybe? Cheers, Mario
  7. OK, this a build that I have been promising for at least 2 GB's, but life got in the way big time First effort was what was called a buddy build way back, then the Maritime GB that finished recently So with as much determination as I can muster, I'm off at last, started on the 2nd day of the GB, but only just getting around to posting Nothing was done in either of the 2 previous attempts, just stuff collected First thing you will notice is that this is a late boxing with very nice decals compared to the older boxings It also as I was to find out, has some flash that needs to be addressed, significantly on the fuselage halves, which I would recommend needs dealing with before anything is attached to the fuselage halves The wings needed dressing down as well. As the wings on the Neppie are very busy compared to most, probably the Constellation is close with a four engine arrangement and tip tanks I decided to start with them, so the 2 jet engines and the tip tanks together The Mainwheel wells are not deep enough and I decided to open them up a bit, so put the nacelles together making sure to open up the top half of the locating cup on one side so the landing gear can be put in later then marked on the outside of the nacelles where to cut the idea being to leave the main gear attachments alone and cutting around them, they are more than strong enough I think. Now when you mark on the outside of the nacelle you need to remember to cut several mm's on the inside of the line, on the first one that principal applied, the second one I seemed to forget, but it was about 10 minutes later and my memory is shot So.. packed out with some plastic strip to correct the goof up not had time to do anymore since, but did look at the Resin Cockpit which is very nice, but realised the Eduard PE is flat and the resin is not, so I'm guessing I'm going to have to paint the resin and forgo the PE, maybe try the Hasegawa decals Today I will go and visit my resident SP-2H and have a better look at what's behind the mesh that is significant in the Mainwheel wells, my photos of some of it are up on the Walkaround site Also need to figure out what I'm going to use for that mesh
  8. A pair of recent completions, the Hasegawa 1/48 P-47D Thunderbolt I and Spitfire VIII, both in SEAC colours and both basically OOB. The Spitfire is in the markings of 152 Sqn, while the T-Bolt is of 146 Sqn.
  9. Hi all, another recent completion, the Hasegawa F6F-3 Hellcat. I used the more detailed engine from the Hobbyboss kit, a resin cowling and wheels, a squadron vacform canopy and Techmod decals. It was my first use of Hataka acrylics and to my eye they look spot on (the photos in the bright desert sun makes them appear more vivid than reality). Hope you like it! Chris
  10. Hello everyone, having recently finished a long and stressful course at work I decided to get back into modelling again. Here is one of my most recent finished models, the Hasegawa P-51D Mustang. I used a set of resin flaps and wheels plus Aeromaster decals. With the paint I used various metallic shades to represent the various different materials used, for example the painted wings and unpainted fuselage. Hope you like it! Chris
  11. Hallo This is my Saraf. Kit from Hasegawa with Aires cockpit. The instruction for this kit is a nightmare. Guess…The wing installation on the left side is actually not possible, without cutting the plastic through. Without my own photos, the outcome would have been a disaster. The cockpit glass was glued after finishing all! The Aires cockpit does not match the Saraf. Detail work had to be done! The decals for the step on the right side is purely wrong. Too short! This is my second helicopter. Happy modelling
  12. 16/2019 And here´s the third of five Emils. Hasegawa kit, legs shortened about 2-3mm, some decals from Aeromaster but they got the Stammkennzeichen wrong, the ones for the underwing are missing so are decals for the coat of arms of JFS1. My dad used Luftwaffe letter decals from Fantasy Printshop, and coat of arms decals from Peddinghaus (1/72 ones because the 1/48 were way too large). Brake lines done with lead wire and plastic rods, the latter ones used also for the upperwing landing gear indicators, a piece of brass pipe for the antenna to fuselage insert, EZ Line for the antenna, AK Real Color paints for the RLM 74/75/76 camo. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235054625-ship-defense148-messerschmitt-bf109e-4-kommando-losigkeit/ Between February 14th and March 20th 1942, a bunch of pilots and aircraft from JG1 and Jagdfliegerschule (Fighterschool) 1 and 2 were sent to the far north to escort and protect German ships in Norway. The unit was called Jagdgruppe Losigkeit after it´s CO Hauptmann Fritz Losigkeit. 13. Hi Folks, Now that College is over for the year, I've got a little bit more free time. Can't resist a bit of model making despite the good weather, so here goes... Hasegawa 1/72 AV-8B Harrier II A nice looking kit that hardly gets built, with good reason some might say... From memory, the kit builds up well but it does have a few glaring issues. This is one of the 'limited edition' pricejacker kits of a variant that hardly gets seen and in these markings too. A nice box photo, I'll use this to get an idea of weathering. New parts/decals: Surprisingly, this kit has most parts for both Plus and Night Attack variants. The decals are pretty good too and are printed in a cool blue/grey colour, the box photo hints at the same colours for the markings and I think these jets were aboard an Amphibious Assault Carrier as the 'ET' tailcode is usually reserved for the 'Flying Tigers' helicopter squadron Annoyingly, Hasegawa never seems too bothered about updating the early AV-8B cockpit console of the 'real world' kits, the Plus, Night Attack and GR's have 2 digital screens. Their computer game inspired AV-8B Plus Idolmaster kit, with the animation characters plastered all over it, has the updated cockpit. Make of that what you will... Best to press on: Moaning aside it's onto the kit. Got a few of the weapons sets to load up the jet, I'm thinking of a Litening pod, Zuni rocket pod and either x2 500lb LGB's or x2 500lb JDAMS. Other suggestions are welcome... I'll build this Harrier in-flight, primarily due to the speedbrake being moulded closed... I'll have to scrounge a pilot from somewhere too. I'll also be dipping into this side project, an open speedbrake 'plug', as I would like to build more Harriers in the future. I've used the Quickboost resin set before but I find it quite tricky to work with, so I'll make my own instead!!! The GR.3 insert comes from the Hasegawa kit and that will be built into one of the YAV-8B prototypes in the future... Back to the build. All the parts needed to be painted before I can join the fuselage halves. BTW, I kidnapped a pilot from a Fujimi F-14 kit, superb detail I have to say and he/she is wearing U.S. Navy gear too. Super. More to follow soon, thanks for looking and enjoy the weather.
  14. Rejoining with this Hasegawa kit, that I've just received. Picked up by a colleague from Sailsbury show. I've been itching to get a kit to put this scheme onto. Anyway , here are the parts, still in their bags.
  15. Hello Britmodellers, This is 188907 RCAF from AETE in Cold Lake, built in 1996, some Verlinden Big Set added, hope you like it! Cheers, Tom
  16. My dad´s on an Emil trip, started the third now, gonna be Romanian but don´t know which scheme yet. DSC_0005 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr DSC_0006 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr DSC_0007 by Reinhard Spreitzhofer, auf Flickr
  17. Hello guys! 1:72 model from Hasegawa, built 41 years ago, with Microscale Decals. This is my very old build of 1978, first pictures ever to be shown. The clear coat got yellowish on some spots (early Revell clear varnish). I polished the canopy and blew the dust off... Cheers, Tom
  18. Sto facendo, eh? The Hasegawa F-104S. I have no experience with Hasegawa F-104 kits, and im not sure what to expect. But it's a Lockheed design and it sure is pretty.
  19. Intended for the Starfighter STGB but finished a few days past deadline - build here An old mould Hasegawa F-104J which started out as a build in Japanese colours with some scratch building in the cockpit and wheel wells. Unfortunately the near 40 year old decals fell to pieces (I know. Foolish of me to think they’d do otherwise). Kit was halfway toward the shelf of doom (or the bin) when I decided to see what I could do from spare bits and bobs of decals. Some modifications to change a F-104J into a Q-104A and some scrabbling around the internet for references and here we have it as per (the resolution isn’t great but that gave me some leeway for improvising with my cobbled together decals) http://www.916-starfighter.de/916starfighter/pics/camo/55-2957 QF-104A 52957 AFSC Eglin 1964.jpg History (& fate) here http://www.i-f-s.nl/f-104-miscellaneous/qf-104-drones/
  20. I know this doesn’t start till next weekend but want to leave this here to remind me Exhibit A - an elderly 2nd hand Hasegawa F-104 Exhibit B - the somewhat basic innards plus a rogue additional set of HobbyBoss decals
  21. Just a place holder, details to follow soon. And here they are Only have a Hawk to finish in the Trainers GB, then a Prowler and Growler in the Specialist GB. But probably won’t let that me stop me starting it.
  22. Eduard's boxing of the Hasegawa Hawker Typhoon, with Resin 4 blade prop, and elevators. Painted with Tamiya acrylics throughout, weathered lightly with some oils and pastels. Lost one rocket, so it's being re-armed 🙂 Peter
  23. Nice kit (Hasegawa, first one I've made and most impressed), IsraCast conversion a bit woolly and indistinct but nice PE, decals were excellent. To see the fun build thread, click HERE Weapons from Hasegawa Weapons set and the Python AAMs were from Paragon. Used Xtracolour and WEM enamels. The Xtracolour Sky/Green was a bit indistinct so probably should've given it another coat, but to be honest I couldn't wait another week or so for the Xtracolour to dry! Weathered with Flory wash and finished with Testor's Dullcote. No other weathering as in all the photos of these planes they look neat as a pin. Clearly, a lot of pride and a budget to match in the IAF! Decided to build it in flight as these machines look about as mean as fighter jets get! Tried to do it justice, but there's a lot I could've done better if I'd taken a bit more time. Thanks for looking, Al
  24. Hi! Two aircrafts I never built is the F-102 Delta Dagger and F-106 Delta Dart. And the main reason is that they are rare. The only ones I knew about in 1/72 in the past are the Hasegawa kits. Of course both Trumpeter and Meng has showed up with new kits. But if they where made of Revell, Monogram or even Airfix I would probably built one or two as the Dagger and the Dart are very impressive aircrafts with an interesting history. Yesterday I finaly got one, a Delta Dart as a gift from an friend. And opening the box I got an second surprise. Gosh, it is really an BIG aircraft. I always had an idea that the F-102 and the F-106 was something like the Mirage III and F-6 Skylancer. But in the box was something bigger than an F-4 Phantom. I had to check twice that it wasn't an 1/48 scale kit! https://www.scalemates.com/kits/hasegawa-00373-f-106a-delta-dart-159th-fighter-interceptor-squadron--282168 As it is an 1/72 kit that comes in a box that usually has aircrafts like the F-11F Tiger there isn't much space left. It also comes with some nice decals for two aircrafts. One from the 159th FIS and one from the 318th FIS and with that the big problem comes up. Both are painted in ADC Grey... So what can one do to solve this? Are there any Tamiya or Humbrol paint out there that is close to what ADC Grey is? Maybe in an lighter shade but bluegrey, not green or browngrey. What I knew the Humbrol and Xtracolor paint isn't available. I also noticed that the weapon bay and landing gear bays are to be painted interior green. Is that correct for the Delta Dart? Cheers / André
  25. Last week I managed to finish this Hasegawa TA-4F Skyhawk in adversary markings. It is one of several adversary Skyhawks I have built, and I started it more than five years ago. It was a straight forward build but it just got sidetracked by lots of other models. I sprayed it freehand with Xtracolor enamels and used Fightertown decals for the markings. This is the company she will be joining: Jens
