  1. Friends, After posting two WWII era aircraft, here is something more modern, the F-4G Wild Weasel version of the Phantom. I used the Hasegawa kit and posed in the early stage of Operation Desert Storm circa January, 1991. Early in the conflict, Phantoms toted four AGM-88 Harm missiles. This provided a bit of a difference for Phantoms usually carried 370 gallon external drop tanks on the outboard wing pylons. I added resin ejection seats and the AGM-88`s, AIM-7`s, and ECM pod came from the Hasegawa weapons set. Despite some “fiddly” challenges to this kit, I would recommend it to all. Thank you in advance!!!!!! Respectfully submitted, Mike
  2. #9/2019 Here´s my dad´s last captured 109 for a while. Hasegawa kit with Rising Decals, Eduard seatbelts, plastic rods and lead wire for the brake lines, legs shortened about 2mm. This aircraft had additional cowl scoops like a G-2, so took some from the sparesbox. AK Real Color Air Mid-Stone and Gunze H314 FS35622 for the camo. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235049959-under-new-management148-messerschmitt-bf109f-4-1-sqn-saaf/ This aircraft from 9./JG53 was captured on El Daba airfield in Lybia in October 1942 by 1 Sqn SAAF. It was repainted and used for training until a final crash in 1943 near Cairo. 3. My second build in this GB will be a Skyhawk. What's a Skyhawk doing in the trainers group build I hear you ask? Well it qualifies if it's a target tug! This will be an ex-Israeli A-4N now operated by BAE Systems Flight Systems at Wittmund on a target towing contract for the Luftwaffe. I bought a Two Bobs sheet for these Skyhawks in 1/48 ages ago and have been looking out for a suitable kit ever since. The 1/48 Hasegawa A-4N popped up online from time to time but always at silly prices. Then last week I found the Brazilian A-4KU boxing - which contains identical plastic, except it doesn't have the extended tailpipe of the A-4N - at a reasonable price and snapped it up. Itching to build it, I looked at my modelling plans which this year are based on the group build schedule. The only one it might have fit in was the year I was born - there was a chance these airframes were built in 1973 - but no luck, I'm a year out! Then it dawned on me - they're target tugs, so they fit the trainers GB! I've ordered some Eduard PE for the interior and to dress up the ejection seat, and a Quickboost tailpipe to convert it to the A-4N, so this is just a placeholder for now. But once all that stuff turns up I'll get cracking.
  4. Hi here is my Bf109G-6 flown by Gerhard Barkhorn the kit is a hasegawa , paints are gunze acrylics
  5. The 109 build continues. Firstly the old Revell Bf109G-10. Nice simple kit but goes together quickly and easily. Finished with Xtracrylix RLM 74,75, 76 and with Model Alliance decals from sheet ML489028 1. 2. 3. 4. Next, a Hasegawa Bf109K-4. Very nice kit. Finished in RLM 76, 75 and 82 and with the it decals. 1. 2. 3. 4.
  6. Completed before the house move, this is off to the backseat as it depicts his farewell flight. The Hasegawa kit performed beautifully with an Aires and Eduard cockpit upgrade. Painted with Vallejo.
  7. Hello! Here is my Hasegawa 1:72 Kawanishi N1K2-J Shiden-Kai (Early) which I built back in 2008. It represents 343-45, of the 343 Kokutai, 701 Hikotai, Imperial Japanese Navy Air Force, flown by First Lt Takashi Oshibuchi, from Kanoya Naval Air Base, Kyushu, Japan, April 1945. The kit was built mostly OOB. I just added some details in the cockpit. It was completely painted and varnished by brush. I had some problems with the decals partially of my own making, in particular the hinomaru which I ended up having to remove and replace with those from another sheet. Thanks for looking and all comments are welcome Miguel
  8. Hi! Here my Hs-129B-3 tank buster of the last WWII winter. Built from Hasegawa limited edition kit with Verlinden cockpit, Eduard masks, custom masks for codes, Montex masks for insignia and some scratch build mainly in wheel wells. Tried to make the temporary winter camouflage to look well worn. Hope You like it!
  9. Hi All, Finally calling this one done. It was not without its issues! Over the years, I have had trouble with Hasegawa kits. I actually binned a 1/24th Ferrari 189, because of several mistakes that I made putting it together. It rather put me off them for a while... If you look at the build log, you'll see that I had problems with the steering (steering rack too short) and front suspension (one wishbone decided to detach itself... twice!) In a moment of clumsiness while trying to put the body on to the floor, I dropped the body on to the floor (A hard laminate floor...). At first, I didn't see anything obviously wrong, until I looked a bit more closely at the rear of he body. A large piece had broken away! Luckily, I found the broken piece, and was able to re-cement the part on without any really visible line on the bodyshell. Also, while assembling the bodyshell onto the floor, one of the front springs dropped out. I thought, "stuff it, no one can see it..." and no one can. So, here are the pictures: I managed to get a good shine on the paintwork using Halford's polishing compound. This stuff is a foam that you spray from a can. I then used a very soft cloth to gently rub the compound in, followed by a gentle rub with a soft cloth. Quite a shine came up. It's not perfect by any stretch, but I am very pleased with the outcome, despite the problems. I will be building more Hasegawa kits in the future... I has joined the car park. Any comments are always welcome. Thanks for looking, Alan.
  10. Second one completed of 2019 is the Focke-Wulf Fw190 A5 from Hasegawa, this again (same as the Bf-109 G10) is a great kit, with no issues at all. Painted with Mr Colour paints and thinners (amazing products in my opinion). My choice of aircraft was quite easy as the Stab/Jagd-Erganzungsgruppe aircraft of Ost, Maj Herman Graf was so colourful and different, this was based in France 1943. If anyone can enlighten me on the markings, id be very grateful of the knowledge.
  11. This is a Hasegawa 1/32 Bf-109 G-10 and it proved a very easy build, no major fit issues at all (a nice change). I have painted it using MrColour paints to represent an aircraft from 2./JG300 Feldwebel Ederhard Gzik based in Germany, October 1944. I added some photo etch seat belt from Eduard to set the cockpit off, I hope you like 'Rita', I am quite happy with the results.
  12. And another of my dad´s oldies goes into storage. Hasegawa kit built years ago. 13. Hi guys. I want to show you my first car model for 5 years, so please be kind with me😉. It´s the Hasagawa kit of the 1971 Safari Ralley Fairlady 240Z. Daniel
  14. Hi, Here my Hasegawa kit with some aftermarket: Rhino seamless intakes, Eduard etch, wheels and engine nozzles. Additional weapons from Hasegawa weapon set. Wheel wells with additions from scratch. Decals-Furball. Tried to depict war weary aircraft with standard Linebacker weapon load Thanks for looking
  15. Hi, Here my Hasegawa kit built with help of Rhino seamless intake, Aires wheel wells, Eduard etch and New Ware canopy masks. Additional weapons for SAM suppression is from Hasegawa's weapon set. Thanks for looking!
  16. #7/2019 Here´s my dad´s next "roundeled" 109. Hasegawa kit with Rising Decals, Eduard seatbelts, EZ Line for the antenna wires. Once again shortened the Hasegawa main legs for about 2mm. Gunze and Tamiya acrylics used, AML masks for the Erla zig-zag pattern. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235048259-crossdresser148-messerschmitt-bf109g-4-1-sqn-saaf/ The aircraft was originally assigned to 2.(H)/14, Aufklärungsgruppe 14. Looking at pics of the aircraft we couldn´t tell if it was fitted with a camera or not, my dad built it without one. The plane was captured in July 1943 on Sicily by 1 Sqn SAAF, tested and later most probably scrapped. 17. Hello! Here is Hasegawa's 1:72 Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 Black 4, of III/JG54, assigned to Commando Nowotony, Luftwaffe, at Acmeer base, Germany, in 1944 which I built back in 2001. This is the old 1970s Hasegawa kit and I built it OOB. It was fully painted by brush and only the varnishes were airbrushed. Looking at it now, I'm not too certain about the tail band as it doesn't conform to any of the known ones (or any I know of). Can anyone shed some light or did Hasegawa get something wrong? All comments are welcome and thanks for looking Miguel
  18. #6/2019 And the next bird rolls out from my dad´s factory. Hasegawa kit with Rising Decals, plastic rods and lead wire for the brake lines, Eduard seatbelts, EZ Line for antenna wires, exhaust flame dampers are PE parts from the Eduard G-10 kit, Gunze, Tamiya, MRP and AK paints used. Shortened the main gear legs for about 2mm to make the aircraft look more realistic. Build thread here https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235048840-crossdresser148-messerschmitt-bf109g-10-regensburg-401-sqn-raf/ The aircraft was a former NJG11 bird and was captured by the Canadians of 401 Sqn RCAF in Faßberg/Germany in April 1945. The fate of this aircraft is unknown. 401 Sqn RCAF was disbanded on July 3rd 1945. 19. Hasegawa pretty much released this little gemstone of a tiddler at the same time that British Airways retired their Trident fleet and took delivery of their first 737-236. The kit carries the same registration as BA's first (G-BGDA) which was delivered by Boeing in December 1981. That makes the kit 38 years old and like most of that age, the decals have had to be re-lacquered. The port side of the fuselage had lost its shape in storage and what looks a simple task, proved very difficult to join and make into a decent continuous profiled tube. Having just completed my 1/200 Hasegawa Negus L1011, I felt it an appropriate time to get this other Negus livery kit put together. That's as far as I have got for the moment. This kit make the Airfix 1/72 BE2 kit look big !
  20. Hello, As promised over on the build thread HERE below are the pictures of the old 1/72 Hasegawa boxing of the F-110A (Navy F-4B) Spectre, one of the first two loaned by the Navy to the Air Force for evaluation: I was originally going to make up an F-110A using an old Fujimi F-4B and homemade decals, but since I tracked this kit down, I just took the easy way out. This is an old kit, worth building, but the directions are attrocious, as far as best build order of lots of small details. The build article pointed to above shows several decal and paint marking details probably not readily available to reviewers and builders of this kit years ago. Thanks for looking, Ed
  21. Out of the box, including decals. Don't know why the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force chose to mimic the 1943 USN camo scheme, but they did.
  22. Hasegawa is to release in Q1 2019 a 1/72nd Rosenbauer Panther 6X6 Airport Crash Tender - ref. SW05 Source: https://www.detailscaleview.com/2019/01/hasegawa-stand-spielwarenmesse-2019-report.html Test build and sprues on display at Nuremberg Toy Fair 2019 V.P.
  23. Due to waiting time with most other projects, my dad decided to continue with the "roundeled" theme and start the next captured 109. Once again a 1 Sqn SAAF bird, this time captured in Lybia 1942. Like with the other two, he uses a Hasegawa kit and Rising Decals. 24. So for this years first WIP I wanted something smaller than the B17 I've just finished and strangely ended up with 4 Japanese aircraft. First was the Airfix B5N2 Kate, followed by 2 Airfix Zeros from Aldi for £5 each and finally the Hasegawa KI61 Tony I picked up second hand for £8!. I have picked up Eduard seat belts for the Zeros along with new decals, a set of ski's, interior etch and decals for the Tony as the original decals look quite poor and the Kate has the Eduard etch set but will use the kit decals as they are good. IMGA0670 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0673 by neil Connor, on Flickr Decals and belts for the Zero's IMGA0671 by neil Connor, on Flickr Resin ski's, Etch and decals for the Tony IMGA0674 by neil Connor, on Flickr Eduard etch for the Kate So the Tony first, the kit is from early 1990's I believe so fine engraved detail on the outside but cockpit detail is non-existent! Resin ski's and Rising Sun decals look good. IMGA0676 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0677 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0678 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0679 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0681 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0682 by neil Connor, on Flickr IMGA0683 by neil Connor, on Flickr Cockpit as supplied by Hasegawa, a bit basic to say the least. IMGA0684 by neil Connor, on Flickr 8 bits of etch and a piece of 0.8mm wire later, looks more like it.
  25. I have a question that's come to mind about the White Sea Hurricane Mk IIc from HMS Nairana. The Airfix Hurricane/Sea Hurricane Mk IIc painting guide, says the underside is Sky Type S but the Hasegawa instructions say White overall. Which is correct? thanks Mike
