Finally finished with this model I took 3rd place in a local model competition

After 3 plane model, i missed my gundam kits And started to this handsome I will try first time reverse wash process, i hope i can handle it.

If someone could tell me how to get it to look good on a mac (safari) and what it looks like on a PC that'd be grand, likewise if imgur is a bad choice please let me know. It's my second model and I'm reasonably pleased with the result but I'm looking to improve and would welcome comment/criticism/feedback. I don't know anything about Gundam but I got this awesome robot model as a gift. I couldn't quite believe in him as 1/144 scale, 30m high robot so I rescalled him (via the road markings on the base) to a 1/20, 4m high robot, which felt more 'real' to me. I really wanted to try to create that sci-fi trope of something powerful being powered up for the first time in thousands of years... I learned heaps on this build about masking, paint and weathering. The paint work is my first effort with an airbrush and 'salt weathering' - I doubt I'll do it again (at least this extensively) as it's messy and hard to control. The 'steel' parts were hand painted (before I got the airbrush) and I rather like them. Spraying Vallejo Model Air was easy and I liked the result, spraying Tamiya acrylics was a pain in the bottom and I'll probably try to avoid that in the future. Overall he is I think a shade too bright and I should have done 'something' to dull the overall look - maybe next time I'll try a dark filter rather than the ochre one I applied here. Cheers. I don't mind the effect but I don't know how the LHS of the vents ended up looking like that I painted him 'azur' blue as I loved the colour and thought it'd contrast nicely with the rust. When I came to do the feet I mixed a darker shade, just to break things up and realised that the whole model would have been better in this colour... Ah well, next time... There was a backpack thing I didn't care for so I weathered the attachment points as exhausts instead. The vent surrounds were done in a different colour and then chipped - I rather like the effect here. Cheapy base - it serves the purpose but I need to do a bit more experimenting to get it to look like tarmac.

Hi all first my apologies not been on much of late ...been battling my depression over past couple of month and everything's has been going wrong since ie, my laptop packed up then my tv now my tablet..haveing to borrow a old pc that swear is ran by a hamster in a wheel as so slow!!!!and not even watched any daily vlogs/shows since before Christmas as cant get them to play without continuous buffering etc....but have kept on modelling as to be honest is the only thing that keeps me busy and sane..well if was sane in first place ...finished this build just last week and was alot of firsts for me in the way that was my first::RG kitfirst true gundamfirst attempt ever at paint job on this par.Totally enjoyed the build other than the amount of parts and paint sessions lol...as got 50 or so clips but had to do in all prob 5-6 lots...the whole kit was painted other than the gold as couldent find a sutible shade. for the paint everything was done using alclads. first everything was black based then the frame work was painted in gunmetal and some bits in chrome, the red was again black base then chrome followed by transparent red, i had before hand done several test pieces of different reds and found this to give the deepest shade and best looking metallic effect i wanted.the kits stickers were replaced with some waterslide decals that was lucky to of been offered..but overall enjoyed it and yes few little mistakes lol but the paint was a test of my skills and happy with it, the overall fit was good but did find some issues at the end and if try to change the stance some bits are likely to come off ...

I thought I might as well move this into the RFI link to is here, WIP So this is one of those 3rd party kits from the Gundam franchise made by Motor King found mostly from Chinese suppliers. Its a great fun kit to build and paint and I pushed my building skills with the weathering, painting technicians and the diorama. I still have a wood frame to make for it but that will come when I can muster the enthusiasm for it, so here it is and once again I really struggled taking any sort of good pictures of this, something I need to practice at I think. Time to throw everything except the kitchen sink at a sinanju! so a master grade 1/100 sinanju, a side3 resin armor upgrade kit and a full metal parts kit as well. master grade sinanju side3 resin armor upgrade kit.. the resin is the most perfect casting ive ever seen, also one of bonuses i didnt know when i bought it is it also comes with an extra bazooka and 2 gatling guns so you can fit the bazooka and the gatlings to shield. the great thing is about that is i can fit the plastic kit bazooka and machinegun together and hold that in the other hand, so it will be dripping with weapons haha. you are also given 8 metal barrels that fit to the gatlings, which is a nice touch. the metal parts upgrade kit, which is mostly 3 part thrusters and watch screws, there are 2 versions of the kit you can go with red thruster bells or gold ones, i went with gold as it would give me more options if i didnt want to go with the standard red color scheme. got a standard sheet of 3rd party decals, an alternative sinanju decal sheet which i just bought because of the silver logos, only cost a quid so not bothered if i dont use them. and i also have got a mega huge 1/60 sheet i bought for the logos to use on another kit ive got, but if needs be i can use one or two of these huge logos. standard size, sorry for crappy pic... and this oversized huge set lastly, ive just bought i different set of fuel tanks for a sazabi verka kit. so i will have a set of tanks free to use on this, il try to use them, but have to see if the will fit as they are alot fatter than the ones that come with the kit, they would look great but will have to see if they can squeese in place. so thats what ive got to work with PAINT. im still thinking of what i want to do, ive been enjoying doing glossy builds lately but i think the extra panel line detail and the use of shiny details(thrusters and pins) i nice matt paint scheme would give better contrast. as for colors im not sure yet, just know i want pastels, lol lots of pastels haha

hay this is a guide to setting up a bhiner account to buy modelling supplies, kits, hard to find resin kits, photo etch, tools, decals, anything other than paint and liquids as postage from bhiner is always different types of airmail so no liquids or flamables. ok so taobao is a internal chinese selling website abit like ebay or amazon, the website is for china only, you can look on it but the sellers dont do international shipping, so you need a 3rd party agent (bhiner) to buy things. you can get just about anything and many things for modelling that are hard to find outside of china, alot cheaper than anywhere else. seam scrapers for £1, photo etch for £2, metal parts and thrusters about half price of ebay, decals for £2, ect ect. it is a gold mine for gundam and scifi modellers, but is useful for other types of modelling but not sure of how good the savings are for stuff related to your type of modelling. so il tell you how bhiner works then walk through the process. so after signing up to bhiner, you can buy items, they will be sent to bhiner and saved in their warehouse to build up a big package or send as soon as item gets to the warehouse. so after signing up to bhiner you can search for stuff you want on taobao using bhiner search bar or look directly on taobao, id say it is best to look on taobao as you can search easily in modelling shops, id suggest you use google chrome browser as they have a translate feature and after finding what you want you can copy and paste the taobao address of item into bhiner search bar to find and buy on bhiner. the bhiner website will ask for quantity and if there are options for item choose what you wish and "add to cart" now, once you have the item or items in cart, you can check out straight away or "quote items" which just means someone at bhiner will confirm the price before buying. once you have paid for item the order will be moved for the orders page. on the orders page will be a list of all the items that are on their way to the warehouse or at the warehouse(the items at the warehouse will have a photo next to them taken by bhiner staff showing the actual item) and when want your things posted to you just send them a message with what shipper you want to go with and they will get a quote pay that and you are done. something to note is when you pay for your postage you can alter the marked value of the package, last month i got a £300 package through customs with just a £14 customs charge, which would have been £72. hope this helps, it really isnt as confusing as it first looks.

hay, heres photos of my kotobukiya super robot wars serena kit. I used gaia metal finish paints gaia white lacquers the purple was a black gloss base, then i put some color changing pigment( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEPTUNE-CHAMELEON-FLIP-PAINT-PIGMENT-ULTRA-VIOLET-TO-NEON-BLUE-RL71-MATCH-/251838852562 ) into gaia gloss clear. upgrades... i used metal thrusters and i used 2 kotobukiya "beast" swords. fun build, the photos dont do the color changing justice also cant do a proper photo set up as we are having building work done at the moment.

As I started playing around with this kit at the weekend I thought I might as well start a WIP. I wanted to give this Mr crystal ruby red a go on my RG Astray as test for when i get around to the PG. I thinned it 3-1 paint/thinners and it sprays like a charm, 3 light coats and im very happy with the results, all i did was wash and dry the plastic and then spray the Mr crystal right onto the plastic, no primer no base coat. Its just about impossible to photograph the end result but the is about the best i could get. Downside is that this is £5 a jar from ebay and has to come from Japan and Im going to need a bucket load for the 1/60 scale so if you know of something similar that is easy get in the UK please let me know. Hi all, This sort of appeared from the HLJ sale in late November and after doing the Guncannon I thought it'd be another straightforward mojo-friendly project. It's the "early prototype" Guntank which has a rather '50s look about it, and could easily be some Soviet terror-weapon. It all fits together pretty well although I used some filler on the turret sides and underside to remove seams where the front section wraps around the sides, and where the two halves of the circular collar come together. I opted to leave most of the other seams though since they looked functional enough. The main body fit well although clamps were required to get a good join between the sides and the hull. This woundn't be a problem if you followed the instructions since the track units are supposed to be on little arms so they can come out from the hull when required. A bit like Wall-E's tracks/feet. But I wanted to glue mine so... The tracks are a bit weird if you've ever built a normal armour model. They're two mirror-image pieces each glued together along the vertical centreline. This means there are doubled up guide horns (which look a bit odd) and some impossible-to-fix-really seams in the wheels and bogie arms. I opted not to do much here and weather it up later. Plus the wheels and bogie bodies will cover a lot of it up. I did remove the mould line around the outside of each track, which meant sanding down every grip plate on the treads, and cleaning up in each recess. That was probably the longest job. I also realised when I took these pictures that I forgot to photograph the wheels, and indeed forget to prime them! There are a pile of other parts including the very poseable main guns and vulcan cannon arms: The "shoulders" are supposed to be in a canvas or similar cloth cover, so I glued them into a fixed pose and filled/sculpted the missing bits from CA and talc. Not very sophisticated but it ought to paint up nicely. Now I need to work out what colour it should be. I could do the same as the sandy Guncannon, but I'm thinking maybe dark green(simple splinter?) with the same orange/white helmet would look cool? Cheers, Will

1/144 RX-Jesta. This was never meant to be the greatest build just a test colour change for my MG jesta and my first kit using the new H&S silverline airbrush. I call it the RX as its using the RX78-2 as the colour influence. I managed to brake a few parts taking in apart for painting, i have used some RG hands and the RG GP01 gun, the decals are a mixed bag from other gundam kits but Im happy with how it looks. The bulb had blown in the lamp so I had to use a very old filament build that gives of the funny cream/white light.

Hello Everyone, After seeing Wills and Blastvader's builds, I have been inspired to start my own kit. This is a model I have had in mind for a while. I was doing a lot of planning for it, which I have now decided to throw out the window and just wing it. So what I am going to aim for is a suped-up GM or a Gundam not sure yet from the Flag of Titans/Advance of Z series, this series is quite popular with Gunpla fans the world over. In the Gundam series, this takes place right after the events in Zeta Gundam. Most of the main mecha in it are named from characters from Watership Down series. Most of the main characters mecha is a deep purple which I might go with, or maybe a mixture with red/black. The main idea was to make a variant/custom of the RGM-79Q "Quel"... see below. This is the base model that eventually "evolves" into the TR-6 Gundams and so forth. Love the colours on this, but I don't think I will be copying them. See the little Hazel logo? I like this model and I don't, I don't own it neither (I know...shocking for me). So lets see what we have to work with... This is the kit I am going to base the model from, I will keep the guns on the back, however I do not like how far they stick out when in the firing posisition. This is the first Gunpla that Fumina Hoshino fights with in Gundam Try Fighters, a cool but weird show, it's on youtube for free (legally) if anyone wants to watch it? The shields coming from the back is a Gundam Thunderbolt idea, the guns on the arms is from NT-1 Alex (War in the Pocket) the guns on the back is from any Guncannon/Freedom/F-91/7th Gundam... you get the idea and the powered bit is from 0083 : Stardust Memory. I do not intend to keep all of the items on this model, the hand held gun is the first thing to go, possibly the shoulder armour, the sideskirts too. This is the "normal" GM from 0083 : Stardust Memory, I doubt I will use much from this model. The rifle will be getting used, possibly the shield too. Maybe the shoulder pads too. We will see what comes of this, There are various other bits I can steal, we will see... who knows I might even make two Custom models. This is the first Gundam that is designed from the Quel, I might use the shield you see, it's actually a booster that doubles up as a shield. I might steal the legs as well and put the extra thrusters on... like I said, I am going to wing it... I do like the red finger tips tho, that will be taken over, maybe the powerpacks for the gun too. I spoke to will about these in his Guncannon build, I got these decals from China, cost about £5 each... the print quality isn't all that. Look at how bad the little Hazels are, god job I will not be using them. I got the warning stickers and the Titans Test Team logos, that is what I wanted really. These are the offical Bandai GunPla decals, I have not been able to find these for a while. For the Gundam above, I would use the top left ones, but as I have another one of the RX-121-1 I will not be using them. Well not all of them anyhow. Notice the way I have tried to keep the decal sheet together Will? Stickers that came with the original Hazel RX-121-2... highly doubt I will use any of these at all. The decals under it are for the Hi-Nu RX-93 Gundam. Got this a while ago for... well because I could. Not really had any idea if I can use them or not, but I might put it on the back of the GM... who knows. Love the shield for this one tho. Notice the Gundam Mk.II Titans version Inside the instructions, gives you a better idea of what I have got to work with. I know it wont be staying those colours tho. The Plastic bits I have got to play with... yay. Shameless plug for the Hazel I built, this is the kind of colours I am going for. However I will be painting this one a lot better... who knows, I might even weather it... or completely brake it... hhmm.. This is what I have started with, I have decided to build the GM up and then consider where I can go from there. Slow and steady, I can't bodge this one up surely?? Dont like the antenna coming from the back, the thrusters I do not like neither, I am not too keen on the access hatch neither. This is where I was as of Tuesday night, the gun arms look ott compared to the rest, might armor them up a bit. I like the beam sabres ontop of the sholder pads however the actual sholder pads I do not like. The head is something I might replace with the Gundam head, not sure yet... lets see where this ride takes us.. Suggestions are most welcome... Kind Regards, Dazz

Unit one is down, i repeat, Unit one is down! The core fight is out but the Gundam is down. I had a great time putting this together as my first diorama, it depicts the start of Star Dust Memories as if Zeon managed to take down Unit one in Australian. So over the last week or so I have mostly been playing with my new airbrush (H&S Silverline...oooh its nice ) and most of my WIP are on hold apart from this one, that I bought just to see what all the fuss was about RG kits. So It just a quick build with a few small paint details added and I just about fished with it. I still need to do the weapons and a few more stickers and top coat it all. This little kit is fantastic, Bandai have crammed so much detail into it, the full inner frame is stunning and I would definitely recommend you have a look at the RG line if you haven’t given one a go yet, I will be adding a few more to my wish list.

We found this little chap t'other day when Christopher & I were surfing eBay looking at Gundams, and his Lordship though it was just too cute, so you can guess what happened It arrived this morning while Boy was out with the family, and I couldn't resist breaking it out and building it straight away. Apparently, they're carried around on the back of normal Gundams on a little chair that straps to their backs (go figure!), and I've never seen them in action, possibly because I've not yet watched a massive quantity of Gundam Animé. I prefer the kits to the shows so far, if I'm honest as I don't seem to "get" the rambling nature of the shows, or the thought processes behind some of the seemingly less sensible actions of the characters Doesn't stop me enjoying the hardware though Will I count this in my completions for the year? Probably

Well I finally bothered to take some pictures of my F-71 G-Cannon, as I promised over a month ago, so I can now post my RFI. The build thread can be found HERE, and I'd like to thank AndyRM101, Will Vale, Hunter Rose and Dazzio for all their assistance and valued contributions through a build that nearly went belly-up more than once. And lastly, just to compare to Will's excellent RX-77-2 Guncannon. As you can see, despite being different scales, they're not very far off in size. As the G-Cannon is only around 15m in height compared to the Guncannon's 18m height.

Hi folks, I finished a proper (not a 28mm figure) model - I think the first since we moved! It's a Bandai Gundam kit from the low-end HG (High Grade) line - cheap and cheerful compared to newer models or Master Grade kits, but with good fit and very crisp mouldings. The only real complains about construction were that the feet and body were both split in two by vertical seams. The feet were OK to clean up, but the body was a pain as the seam went through the fins on the top surface - they would have been better as add-on parts I think. I filled and cleaned it all up, but it's a bit rounded-off from what it was originally. The tricky thing which is peculiar to Gundams is the need to paint the interior joint parts and then build and paint the armour around them - at least if you want contrasting colours (and I did.) Masking off the round bosses on the feet was fiddly too! The joints allow a bit of poseability although not as much as the modern kit my daughter put together. Mine can still manage a bit of sassy hip tilt: He's weathered with the usual AK enamels, and the decals are stolen off unrelated Gundam sheets - mostly from a 1/100 Guntank and a set of Wave caution decals - the kit didn't come with any to speak of. I tried to keep the weathering and decals on the subtle/small side to give a sense of scale, and restrict the dust mainly to the feet. I'm not 100% sure how well this worked - some of the chipping might be a bit on the big side, but he looks cool from ground level: He's not actually all that big though! Hello all, Tis' I. Just thought I'd share what I'm working on at the minute. In a desperate attempt to get over the modeller's malaise that struck me hard within months of coming back in to the folds of those fanciers of plastic crack (leading to three incompletes on various Group Builds) I decided to dig this old lad out of the attic. It's a 1/100 scale F71 G-Cannon from the Mobile Suit Gundam F91 film. Originally released in 94 (I think) I picked him up off of ebay in 2001-2 when I was 14 of 15, badly stuck him together and then left him languishing in a box in my mum's attic for over a decade. Being that I've always liked the design and being, in my mind at least, partially complete I thought finishing him off might be a good way of getting myself energized again. And in it's own way it's working, though it wan't as easy as job as I'd first anticipated. Mostly because of the bloody awful job younger me had done to the poor lad. My overzealous self had carved some rather severe trenches in the plastic in an attempt to clear seamlines (very prevalent on these early Bandai kits, and always in awkward places) and absolutely destroyed his hands. Anyway, my best efforts with Mr. Surfacer, lots of sand paper and some primer resulted in this: Which really needed a rub down with some micromesh (which I'm not sure how to use, do you cut strips off it or just use it like a polishing cloth?) and a few touch-ups; but being the lazy and also impatient goit that I am I thought I'd just attack it with the airbrush (if I could remember how to use it and as of tonight this is how it looks: This is after two coats of future (which never takes on a glossy, glassy sheen for me like it does when you proper modellers do it) and needing one more before the decals go on (the early No Grade 1/100 kits actually came with both stickers and decals which is nice). Then it will be some more future and a panel wash. Now, here's where I need you professhunals help...how should I go about doing that last part? I've seen some great work on these pages but my last attempts at panel washes turned out a bit pap if we're being polite (check the sig) and so I'd like some advice. What are the pre-prepared washes like, and how should one use them? Also, filters: Yes/no? Help me Britmodeller.comWork-in-ProgressSci-FiandRealSpace-Kenobi you're my only hope! TTFN and that.
